Many thanks AlterRockerosis. Don't know who filmed this or when ... just glad they did it and kept the camera rolling. It looks early in the history of this song and the crowd seem not to know the significance of what they are hearing ... but that might just be my ignorance.
Increíblemente miran el mundo desde los ojos grunge de Kurt Cobain !! Porque son parte de ese mundo .Después la industria de la música ,destrozara el sentido ,la estética y la idea artística ,como ocurre siempre !
This is probably at the Dragonfly in LA around 1995. Anne Preven, the singer, wrote it (she wrote for Madonna before starting the band), and it covered by a cheesy pop artist 5-6 year later. They would also do a banger version of “Torn” live in concert in the vein their best song, “Glow”.
This is another version of the song which I enjoyed a lot. It's closer to the Beth Brennan version than the Ednaswap original, but a nice cover nonetheless. ua-cam.com/video/2wkbphTZBJg/v-deo.html
1995 I'm guessing, it looks early in their career and Carla is still the drummer. She left in 1997. I followed these guys around in 95/96, one of my favorite bands. I was HORRIFIED when I heard that saccharine piece of garbage cover on the radio.

I looked for myself in the video, but nope, not this one 😆. I was HORRIFIED when I heard that saccharine piece of garbage cover on the radio and realized some poser was making bank off Annie and Scott's song. And in an interview with Natalie in 1997 she was asked how she wrote the song and she dodged the question in a way that made it sound like she wrote it, and never gave Edna Swap credit or corrected the interviewer.
@cjborcuk I think I about covered the reasons in the comment. If you're doing a cover, give credit to the original artist. Don't act like it's your song. Basic decency. TBH, I overstated my reaction at first hearing it, I was disappointed that the cover has none of the oomph and emotion of the original, but I wasn't mad yet. I was angry and disgusted at the non-acknowledgment and everyone's assumption that she wrote this awesome song.
Agree there should’ve been far more transparency about the origin of the material. But the hate in the comments for NI is so wide of the mark. Yes, the original is majestic and the emotion is there for all to see. But Natalie took it, polished it and breathed totally fresh life into it and truly made it a classic. It’s an absolutely amazing pop song under Natalie and she deserves huge credit for that.
They wrote a very good song, and I like their version of it, but not more than the famous cover version. The way Ednaswap did it was probably more expressive of the lyrics, which is generally a good thing, but sometimes what makes a pop song is a tension between the words and the sound.
The original album version is the one, but the industry being what it is, Ednaswap struggled to get recognised. Phil took it to Natalie and then the rest was history.
Oh was it? Was it really? It wasn't meant to be at the tempo and time signature at which they WROTE AND PERFORMED IT? What a glaring mistake that they played thru own song incorrectly. Jesus fucking Christ
This live version- very specifically this one- is my favorite performance of this song by far. Can’t find the right words for how it makes me feel.
Depressing catharsis? 🤔
Torn?
Flat. That’s the word you’re looking for.

How anyone can not stand there in total silence absolutely captivated by her voice is crazy
That is the most 90s outfit ever

It's not ignorance. This is mid 90's. Natalie made her career because of this song.
@@TehSoulZeroThat's not Natalie though.
Somehow absolutely perfect
The original...with actual edge!
ÍDOLA TE AMO, ESTA VERSIÓN QUE ES LA ORIGINAL ES LA MEJOR DE TORN.

Their video recording is much more energetic similar to NI. I wonder if they slowed it down for impact and to stand out.
Pretty sure I read they were asked to change it from the more pop-esque version, hence this version being released on Wacko Magneto
Lo más probable es que hayan tomado algo ,para la ocasión .el grunge , es original .música en estado puro y artistas de en serio !
When was this?
1997
Probably

it was never a pop song until Natalie got a hold of it...

Great cover! Thanks
It's the original version, isn't it?
this is the original.
The worst part is natalie imbruglia stole her song 😢
Nice rock cover of a Natalie Imbruglia classic!
This is the original version. In my opinion much better than Natalie Imbruglia’s version. The sadness and emotion is palpable 😭
@@xheartXcorex that's not your opinion buddy. this version is 10x better than any cover.
I know this comment is a joke but still I have a visceral puke response to it.
She is the original Singer and that is the original band performing their original composition
*FYI EDNASWAP ORIGINAL NG TORN BROD. COVER LANG YUNG KAY NATALIE IMBRUGLIA*
*ALTHOUGH MAGANDA PAGKAKANTA NI NATALIE IMBRUGLIA*
wow this is a terrible performance. original recording is much better. I think you lost it this night Ednaswap
You're all alone on this one bub. Maybe stick to studio recordings.
Opinions are opinions. 🤷🏻♂️
ngl Torn kinda sucks slowed down... it was meant to be in 4/4 96bpm like the remix as well as Natalie's and most other covers.
