- Founded in 1911 in Portland, Oregon, Reed College is one of the most intellectual colleges in the country, known for its high standards of scholarly practice, creative thinking, and engaged citizenship.
Reed students pursue the bachelor of arts degrees in 40 majors and programs. The curriculum includes a yearlong humanities course, broad distribution requirements, and a senior thesis. A 9:1 student-to-faculty ratio and small conference-style classes allow faculty members to truly mentor students and engage with them in individual discussions. Reed also offers a graduate program leading to a master of arts degree in liberal studies.
"If you're a genuine intellectual, live the life of the mind, and want to learn for the sake of learning, the place most likely to empower you is not Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Chicago, or Stanford. It is the most intellectual college in the country-Reed in Portland, Oregon."
-Loren Pope, Colleges That Change Lives

I saw more sunshine in this video than I did in 4 years are Reed.
amen
@DeepForest portland is always rainy, barely shines
lmao
You should have left your dorm room more often ;)
Thanks for sharing the truth 😆
I love this video. It captures many of the feelings I still have about Reed even so many years later--I am from the class of 1977. There really is no place like Reed.
I was put on the waitlist of admission to reed college. I still remember Reed was the only school which required me to submit one of my research papers during the application process. I respect its academic attitude.
And did you get into reed or they rejected you after putting you in the waiting list?.
i am currently at reed waiting list,
What should I do?
I'm a college counselor and have visited Reed twice already. Wonderful place. I wanted my kid to go here.
One of the best college recruitment videos I've seen.. Kudos to whoever produced and edited this.
I was thinking the same thing. It makes the school seem perfect.
Centennial is it doe?
@@Bb-yi5pm My notification to your comment reminded me of how old I was.. Four years ago I was looking at colleges, now I'm graduating college.
Maria De Dios haha congrats!!
Maria De Dios haha congrats!!
Makes me want to go back and do it all over again.
Really great video. I am class of 1993. I still miss the cameraderie and intellectual vibrancy of the campus community!
I have lived less than a mile from Reed for 19 years. Passing it everytime I go out and
It is just as beautiful as ever. One of my greatest regrets goes along with my inability to succeed with what I truly desired. My unfortunate turn in academics. Going to Reed would provided a promising future.
Maybe next time huh?
I GOT IN ❤
I got into Reed as a transfer! So happy
i will cry here and im 100% certain.
Dream college.
I already love it so much. It just feels like I belong here. If I get in, I'll be starting college there in 2016, but it already feels like home.
+Dhhyey it's hell don't go
+Yeah. Why?
+Aditya Hariharan (TheRealZoro) everyone calls Kroger a lizard yet 90% of the student body has been replaced by poorly programmed cyborgs who can't spare CPU cycles to say hi when passing in the hallway.
Well, did you get in?
Great and wonderful video. Thanks! I had the great privilege of having visited the Reed campus twice...once in 2013 and again last July. I wanted my own son to come here.
Beautiful!🙌

I love Reed.
I WANT TO GO TO REED SO BAD BUT I HAVE NO IDEA HOW I WILL PAY FOR IT
+Madeline Hudgens Same!!!!
+Madeline Hudgens +Bubble Cat They actually have really good financial aid, they meet 100% of need. So whatever your family cant pay, they'll give to you (in grants, loans, and a work study). Use their Net Price Calculator if you want an estimation of how much you would have to pay.
+Emily Hinojosa The problem is, what FAFSA and co. say you should get in financial aid isn't always going to cut it
Ask your parents to help you pay for college. My parents help me a great deal to pay for college.
I thought that too!! but I applied anyways and I actually got amazing financial aid!! I'm 100% able to afford Reed now and am going to attend this fall :) So don't be afraid to apply even if you think you won't be able to afford it
That was a pretty good intro video to the college. The campus looks like an old-school one, too. (Sorry for the pun) It's like something from the East Coast, visually speaking. Supposedly, back in the 1970s, Steve Jobs attended this liberal art college, but he did dropout of it before graduating.
Reed sounds so amazing. I wish I could attend, but anything out of state doesn't seem to be an option.
+Mardoqueo Covarrubias Don't be so quick to write it off. Look into financial aid. Sometimes, financial aid can make out of state private colleges cheaper than your in state university.
wow I want to attend Reed so badly...
I will legit cry if I do not get accepted to Reed, it's Reed or community college
:(((((((
I live in Alabama and I added my name to the mailing list, I want to go here because it looks like a great college for the field I am interested in.
I am in love with this college and the city of portland hope I will be able to attend it, why does this feel so inviting and warm!
me too im thinking of applying, are you a senior in high school?
yes maam i am
I would love to join reed..
I am going to cry, i cant even answer the supplemental,,, how am i going to ever have this????@?@?@
❤❤❤
I’m a sophomore in high school on the east coast and the things I would do to just age two years and go to Reed RIGHT NOW
I’m attending in the Fall I never saw myself here at first (southern girl) but I’ve done visits and I absolutely can’t wait to start my college experience at such an amazing school.
i was in your place a few years ago. I came here and it was the best decision of my life!
This school doesn't look like it should cost as much as it does.
“Enter the hallucinations, set the wave to divine, and escape the world.”
2:58 Where are her shoes!?
Reed is no place for judgement
How do I pay for a expensive school if my parents make good money but don’t want to help?
One guy's voice sounds exactly like Larry David's.
Do reed college offer full scholarship?
1:45 He's sleeping in the video, lol.
.....fuck, I wish I went there.
I'm currently stuck with choosing between Reed and Swarthmore D:
Did you choose?
@@brandonfreiberg779 still deciding
@Maria De Dios lol
@@mariadedios9081 how about now
Steve jobs went here
Katia Kessler he dropped out because he couldn’t afford it
I wish I was smart, s I can go here :(
I'm from Bangladesh 🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩
What is the difference between Reed and Evergreen College?
Answer= They have different pot suppliers.
i would apply if it wasn't one of the most politically liberal colleges in the country. at least they don't have comments disabled
Who came here because Steve Jobs?
But the city of Portland remains a dangerous place to be in, with all the drug decriminalization and the excessive homeless on the streets, it's really discouraging ngl.
Reed College where you go to be bullied for attempting to learn a viewpoint that is opposite to the crowd of animals on campus invading classrooms disrupting lectures and bullying faculty on their topics.
Reed - Where liberal kids go to play Harry Potter.
reed more like peed
Reed college students paint *false* Trump graffiti. Watch more on UA-cam.
Blue, I am thinking the graffiti in the bathroom is questionable too. I didn't know gangs and gangs upon racist people hang out in Reed library bathrooms scrawling racist graffiti? Aren't there cameras of people entering and exiting the bathroom? I bet if the Portland Police are able to investigate this graffiti report it will be proven false. I can say from interacting with Reed Alum that they are highly classiest, bigoted, and discriminatory. Even New York Times bestselling author Malcolm Gladwell describes in his book Outliers (chapter 4) How Reed treats poor students www.litcharts.com/lit/outliers/chapter-4-the-trouble-with-geniuses-part-2
Reed is a disgrace of our beautiful state
I have lived less than a mile from Reed for 19 years. Passing it everytime I go out and
