Recognizing the common suit combinations can help us so much at the table. When we see a familiar suit combination, we can have confidence that we know the best way to play the suit.
After drawing trumps with this hand, we want to set up our clubs but we have to keep an entry to North. How would you play this suit combo?
    Dummy: ♣QT963
    Declarer: ♣A85

Thanks Graeme and Bajir. I struggle with suit combinations. I didn't understand the point Graeme made (7.28 into the video) when he said that if either East or West had a singleton ♣K and we played our ♣A first, then we would make all the club tricks. Surely the opponents ♣J is going to take a trick at some stage? Unless Graeme meant that if West started with Jxxx and East with K, then we could finesse twice against West's J, and then play our Q felling the J?? 🤔

So technically the right way to play this suit (when we don't have communication) is to play Ace of Clubs first - alternatively, if you start off low (as Bajir did here) and East has got Kxx of clubs - if you play low and take the club finesse - EAST may well assume (incorrectly) partner has the Ace of clubs. If the suits are laid out as Axx, QT9xx, Kxx, xx then it would be wrong now to duck the club finesse as you are giving declarer a trick in clubs when they don't really have one.

Hoping east has KJ, I would play the Ace then play low to north. King would drop on second round

I would have cashed AC, then led 8C and let it run. Bridge is a game of mistakes and I'm hoping to induce W into winning the KC with the second trick.
