The last hand I would open 1NT because the S are nowhere near good enough for the 2S you would have to bid over a 2C,2D or 1NT response (I suppose you could let 1NT pass). On this hand you'd end up in 4H via 1NT-(2D)-2H-(4H) Imagine the hole you'd be digging if North's hearts and diamonds were swapped!
The 3NT rebid on that 17-count is old-fashioned. A rebid of 3NT should show a totally flat 15-16 points. With any other balanced 15-19 points rebid 2NT.

Andrew Robson has a ‘rule of 14’ for whether a five card minor should be bid over a minor: you add the pts to the number of cards in the minor. Less than 14 you’d probably bid 1NT. As for the rebid, I thought 1h followed by 2s was generally understood to be an exception meaning you only four of each? Another comment about the rebid is how can bidding 2NT be forcing? That’s surely pretty dangerous in many auctions?
1 - Rule of 14 is a good rule, so you could respond to 1H with 2C, with a 5-card suit and 9pts. 2 - If you have 4432 distribution, this is a balanced hand, so you either open 1NT, or open 1 of a suit (1H if playing Acol) and rebid in No Trump. The sequence 1H: 2C; 2S is a reverse bid showing something like 16+pts, as well as 4+ spades and 5+ hearts. Hope this helps.

The 2C response is preferable also because many modern players play a 2NT response as Jacoby , showing a raise to 3 of partner's Major or better.

I primarily teach 4CM Acol with a 12-14NT. That is what I cover in most of these talks.
Opening with a 4 carder.? Standard american should be a five carder.
Yes, my videos cover Acol bidding which is four card major, so some of the bids would be different playing standard American, 5CM.
