It's unfortunate that Prince...at the time...wouldn't loosen the grip on The Time and allow them to write, produce and perform their own music...and create with him..and make another Motown in Minneapolis together but I guess it happened the way it was suppose to....

Jewel M. you must be crazy. Loved prince and it's true he played all the instruments on his first album but you really need to listen to Jesse Johnson on his guitar solos. Prince could not touch Jesse, just listen when Morris calls him, on this video. Prince didn't allowed for him to be showed

Jesse is a great guitarist, but she's correct. Prince played all of instruments on the album except some drums by Morris Day on a couple of tracks.

Prince played the guitar solos on Get It Up and Jungle Love and all others. Jesse couldn't duplicate or replicate Prince's solos. Prince was a master musician. If you look at Jesse's Jungle Love solo, it was nothing like Prince's solo.

morris stated that the time could outplay princes band meaning they were better musicians than the people prince had with him...that might be so...but with Prince leading the band Prince did WAY more interesting things to his songs live than they did...i love the time, they are solid but they dont divert much from the albums...prince almost changed all his songs to the better live.
