Absolutely. But that's because you can't go around spending massive amounts of time (and thus, money) on each unit if you want to sell any of them, especially in a market such as the car market where there is good competition. People will quite simply just buy from your competitor across the street. Most people literally just want something that takes them from A to B.

It's going to be better than it ever was. I really love his "It was only new once, so when I restore it it's going to be how we remembered it, not how it was" mantra.

You don't cut any corners. Your prep work is beyond thorough. It's so satisfying to watch someone who does all the little things first. Our car was officially the 72 color of the year, "coral", which was colloquially called "bird-shit-yellow" in SoCal. Actually blended in well. Next year might have been the green, which in Britain was the "color of death" since so many British Racers died in it. They went dark after that.
Agreed. You should check out the car Chip Foose built. He built many cars, but particularly the Roadster. The quality of work from some people are in a class by themselves.

Many years ago (late 80s) I was looking for a cool car to buy. My friend brought me to a garage and led me to a section that had this orange 240Z. Never got it but it was the first time my body told me "you need this car". You are plucking my heart strings. The emotions this car evokes are truly special. Loving every moment. Thank you.
20 years ago (it took me 8 years) I restored a 1973 240Z. It started out brown (same as yours), ended up white. I rebuilt a 1982 280ZX turbo engine from a donor car with 5-speed and put it in the 240Z. I raised the boost from 7 PSI to 14, added an intercooler, and unded up making 300 H.P. at the wheels. Best project I ever did, putting 30,000 miles on it in the process. Brings back memories. Thanks!
All through parts 1 - 4 I was thinking, 'Wait, I know how much effort this guy puts into filling and sanding a coffee grinder, so at some point, surely he's got to ... but surely he's not going to go as full on extreme ... surely? ...' And yeah, of course he was going to. Superb. Absolutely superb.

FLAWLESS VICTORY! I have never before seen such a meticulous restoration than this series. It is truly UNBELIEVABLE how much attention you paid to every millimeter of this build. Not a dent, not a speck of dust, not a single factory defect left without care and reformation. It is truly shocking to witness this! I cant WAIT to see the finished vehicle! You cannot sell this car unless you get a reasonable quote. This thing is a masterpiece! Every detail, every nook and cranny, every single edge and curve, restored to a level never seen before with this model, anywhere. $100,000? $200,000? Any collector who watches this series and has serious money is going to kill for this car. Offer it to Jay Leno. I bet he'd love to to add this car to his collection. Well done! You are a true artist!
I just wanted to comment and say that all of your videos have really inspired me to take restoration to a whole new level. I don't have access to any of the same machinery or equipment as you do, but I repair electronics professionally and I often go above and beyond to deliver a better-than-new product to the client. For example, thoroughly brushing and cleaning plastic covers and such on game consoles, repairing potential future circuit failures in them (like the clock capacitor in the original Xbox), etc. I recently picked up a manual typewriter in dire need of some attention. It's a very important typewriter to me, as it's the real-world version of what Violet Evergarden used in the anime. Loads of "restoration" videos of typewriters are not really restorations. Many of them do not even attempt to remove rust from internal mechanisms. They simply remove some panels, maybe take out the type bars, and scrub clean what they can see. It always bothered me watching those videos, knowing there's a hundred internal parts that are entirely untouched. I kept thinking "what would mymechanics do with this?" While I can't fashion new screws and bolts, I can certainly clean, polish, paint, and even perform DIY nickel plating on many of the components in this contraption. There's an awful lot you can do with vinegar and a dremel. It is going to be an extensive project for me, as typewriters are extremely complicated devices. But I figure if people assembled these by hand back in the 20's and 30's, they are obviously meant to come apart, too. Having said all of that, I would LOVE to see a restoration video of a typewriter done by you. I think seeing how a real perfectionist would do it would scratch a lot of neurons in my brain.
I wish my grandfather was alive to watch this channel with me. He would have loved it. I learned a lot of basic skills in his small workshop growing up, which prove useful regularly. Craftsmanship is amazing and the skill and diligence shown here is beyond comparison. Passing such skills on is more valuable than any money.
I know a job is being done with love and pride when I see the little things that no one else will ever see still being done with patience and care. The integrity of a restoration lies in these little things. First class efforts.
Thank you for putting so much love and care into this car and into documenting your incredible skills. The 240z is my dream car and nothing else comes close, so I find this series to be extra special.
I don't care about cars. I make a point of not looking when a loud, expensive car drives by. But I will look out for this beautyful bee driving by! This is art and the color phenomenal.
Outstanding in every way. The restoration, the attention to detail, and the phenomenal camera work. So many times I thought to myself that you must’ve spent 2 to 3 times as long just to make sure that we, the audience got the perfect view from every angle. Very grateful. Thank you.

Thank you very much :-)
This to me is the ultimate form of luxury. Having the time, tools and knowledge to completely restore an item like this from a desolate state to its previous beauty. Incredible work.
Couldn't agree more. Sadly, I lack all three of those things, haha.
It's going to be better than it ever was. I really love his "It was only new once, so when I restore it it's going to be how we remembered it, not how it was" mantra.
Glad to hear that, thank you
This car is gotta be worth a million dollars with all the effort you put in. Magnificent job!
Fingers crossed
No cringey shenanigans, no music, just pure action and precision. When this car is put back together, this would definitely one of your biggest masterpiece.
I love the color. It did reminded me of Bumblebee from the Transformers (animated one)
AGREED!
Agree, and the 240z in my opinion has to be one of the greatest driving cars ever
"No cringey shenanigans"....ummm...like Counting Cars?
Thank you very much, I'm glad you like it :-)
This is literally going to be the best, most perfect, flawless, Datsun ever made. I can't wait.
Nice to hear that, thank you very much :-)
If this restoration were put together as a documentary and screened in theaters I'd pay to go watch it.
Better than anything Hollyweird has put out in 30 years.
Nice to hear that, thank you very much :-)
As someone who has owned both an Audi Q3 in Pulse Orange and a Ford Mustang Mach-E GT in Cyber Orange, you sir are a man of impeccable taste in car colors.
Nice to hear that, thank you :-)
Used to work in a collision shop that specialized in classic cars. I have over 10,000 hours of wet sanding under my belt. You Sir, are a mad lad! I love it!
Thanks, I'm glad you like it :-)
Is there any of it left?
hey i need some guidance on my car if you can help that would be great, i painted it in a single stage metallic dark turquoise color called nocturne blue its the original color of my car 79 trans am, should i clear coat it? i was not going to as its just a cheap paint job and my 2nd as i messed up the first time lol, but do you wetsand than clear coat? there are some little impurities in the paint i think that clearing over that wouldnt be good,
what grit would you recommend to wetsand in and what would i use to buff it? how should i wetsand it? on a block? and what pattern? crosshatch?
i know single stage you have to be very careful so i dont want to disturb the flakes and mess it up as i put so much time and effort into it
I watch different restoration videos every time.
But there is no channel more perfect than this channel.👍
Many thanks for watching :-)
For reasons beyond interest, I've witnessed MANY body repairs, repaints, rebuilds, etc. And I've NEVER seen such a good job as this one. It is just PERFECT. And I've seen very good professionals at work in body restoration, but your craftsmanship is beyond belief. It is just astounding, I cannot explain the satisfaction I feel watching such a spotless work!
Just beautifully done
Glad to hear that, thank you very much
So much respect for the attention to detail and getting everything perfect, shows a real skill so lacking these days.
Glad to hear that, thank you
As someone who's stepfather owns a body shop and has been painting and doing body work on cars since he was 8. This is single handedly my favorite car restoration on UA-cam so far. You don't cut any corners. Your prep work is beyond thorough. It's so satisfying to watch someone who does all the little things first. My stepdad is a 40+ year master certified painter for Ford, and he would be happy with the work you do. Thanks, man, for making this wonderful content.
Nice to hear that, thank you very much :-)
When you pulled out the paint cards I was skeptical, but the moment I saw that glassy interior I was 100% sold. It looks beautiful!
Good call!
Our car was officially the 72 color of the year, "coral", which was colloquially called "bird-shit-yellow" in SoCal. Actually blended in well. Next year might have been the green, which in Britain was the "color of death" since so many British Racers died in it. They went dark after that.
Same! At first I was like “that’s certainly a color….that exists. Once I saw it on the car, I was sold
@@limbodog with the grey accents, it's going to look absolutely stunning 👌
The matte grey against the glossy yellow is gonna be SHARP
Glad to hear that, thank you
The master....... the only man that can make the original even better, rustproof and stronger than before
The attention to detail is second to none. There is no car more finely, and caringly built. Bravo, my mechanics!
Agreed. You should check out the car Chip Foose built. He built many cars, but particularly the Roadster. The quality of work from some people are in a class by themselves.
Happy to hear that!
The Safari Gold looks fantastic! I'm looking forward to the next part of the restoration.
Strong honey vibes ❤
You and me both!
Now on with the MECHANICAL stuff 😉
Safari Gold >> Meh Brown !!
As a 30 year body man that was a lot of hard hard work. You grew a few new muscles doing all that. Brilliant.❤️
As a 0 year body man, I'm impressed he didn't use power tools to sand the vehicle.
@@gerber8915 sanding a vehicle with power tools is for someone who does it for a living and needs a time efficiency. this gentleman is attempting to achieve perfection, and mistakes are easy to make with power tools
@@gerber8915 I´m willing to bet there were a few power tools on hand for some of the heavy sanding and prep, just not on the video and there is nothing wrong with it. Sanding by hand just makes for better content.
I appreciate that!
The rough sanding with 240 and 320 grit were indeed all done by hand with blocks. the fine sanding with 400 right before paint I did with an oribital disc sander.
You are restoring it correct way! I love it! Stripping it down to the frame and sandblasting it. I love it. Great job!
The exact point at which I knew you I couldn't do what you do, is when you are showing the low spots and how you deal with them. I 100% would have just gone "Meh, that'll be alright. People might not even notice". That is the difference between an amateur and an artist; dedication to perfection. I applaud you sir.
Thank you very much :-)
I would much rather have a workingman's Datsun restored to perfection than all of the zillionaire supercars ever made. Craftsmanship and dedication creates a true work of art ❤
Thank you very much
I have worked for customer service companies that work with automobile repair and replacement. I have lost track of the number of owners who called in because of a small flaw in the clear coat. Watching a dust particle that marred your work (because we live in the real world and these things happen) get addressed by wet sanding and hand polish was truly remarkable. Thank you for sharing that and continuing to be the master crafter we all know you to be.
Thank you very much, I really do appreciate it :-)
Glad you got a paint sponsor really helpful
Absolutely
Who was waiting for "I make a new one " with the noisy roller? A brilliant looking finish. This will be the best restoration of a 240Z.
If you noticed the last couple of pieces he rolled it didn't squeak anymore. I'm surprised it squeaked more than once before it got "restored".
I'm disappointed he didn't make a spoon.
I noticed the squeaking just after the first few sound deadenings, then I indeed oiled it a bit :-)
It looks so wonderful. It's yummy and I'm so glad the body is done. Despite all of the setbacks, it's turned out superior and to your standards. Thanks for not taking any shortcuts. And thank you Glasurit for the sponsorship.
Thank you so much!
I'm gaping in awe at every step of this jorney. Your original restoration videos was legendary for their precision and perfection in quality. The minimalist approach to editing putting that second layer of perfection to it all. Now you scale up and go even deeper not only restoring but reimaging a complete car to utter perfection that even the original japanese engineers would not be able to reach. I am utterly gobsmacked and deep in admiration for your work. This is the best thing on the internet by far. Noone else can even reach your kneecaps for meticulousness and dedication to your work.
Nice to hear that, thank you very much :-)

I agree
Many years ago (late 80s) I was looking for a cool car to buy. My friend brought me to a garage and led me to a section that had this orange 240Z. Never got it but it was the first time my body told me "you need this car". You are plucking my heart strings. The emotions this car evokes are truly special. Loving every moment. Thank you.
So many of these classic Japanese cars are great! The 240z has such clean lines, I love it! I'm also a fan of the Celica GT range from that era, too.
Thanks, I'm glad you like it :-)
Superb. I wish all car restoration videos were like yours: no talking; no music; just the work: the superb work✨
Thank you so much :-)
'Impressive' does not even begin to describe the work you are doing. And really nice and tasteful color! Hats off!
Thank you very much!
How lucky will be those who still don't know this channel and will be able to bingewatch all the vids in one go in a few years !!
Still waitin'
20 years ago (it took me 8 years) I restored a 1973 240Z. It started out brown (same as yours), ended up white. I rebuilt a 1982 280ZX turbo engine from a donor car with 5-speed and put it in the 240Z. I raised the boost from 7 PSI to 14, added an intercooler, and unded up making 300 H.P. at the wheels. Best project I ever did, putting 30,000 miles on it in the process.
Brings back memories. Thanks!
300HP is about ideal for a daily driver in this weight class, since it makes it fun to drive on standard tires without being excessively dangerous.
300HP is crazy for that car. Must have been awesome to drive!
Way to go ;-)
I love that you use all kinds of highly specialized stuff and then just whip out a teaspoon to smooth out the seal.
He didn't have a teaspoon to hand - so he made a new one.
What highly specialized stuff did he use in this video
@@minimoog4236Слава Богу, с токарным станком работать умеет и был под рукой двух килограммовый брусок нержавеющей стали😂
I was just looking around for something nice and round with different radii.
@Nick210 I think he's talking about it in general, not specifically this video ;-)
don’t know why I wasn’t getting notifications for these but I’m thrilled to watch this series! can’t even imagine how much work goes in to this, the sheer amount of knowledge you need to have for even the smallest or seemingly easy parts is incredible. great work, so excited to see more of this project!
Thank you very much :-)
*I thought I've seen the best of car restorations on YT but, DAMN this is just on another level mate!*
Thank you very much :-)
This is probably gonna be the best car ever made by a human being on planet earth. You sir are just amazing.
lol
Thank you very much :-)
Easy to forget with all this beautiful, painstaking work that the car was a product of mass production and never saw anything like this level of care when it was originally built! You’ll have a priceless one of a kind piece when you’re done. Bravo!
Couldn't agree more!
The work and prep was artistry.
The color is absolutely phenomenal.
Glad you like it :-)
This is quite literally one of the nicest paint jobs I have ever seen!
Many thanks
This is the most lovingly restored Datsun ever.
Better than factory, as usual with my mechanics
Glad you enjoyed the video
I have some problems with mental health. Don’t wanna bore you with the details. But your videos somehow just melts my anxiety away. It’s so soothing and satisfying watching your attention to detail and perfection. Thank you good Sir for these moments of relief and relaxation.
Nice to hear that, thank you very much :-)
Best restoration channel ever with a very meticulous approach to process, definitely be interesting to see a longer than a 14 minutes version of video with more details)
More to come!
I usually play these restoration videos on 2x speed and don't pay enough attention to details, but this one is so incredibly satisfying to watch from start to finish! Well done and can't wait for Part 6!
Thank you very much!
Been following you for years. Your attention to detail and faithfulness to originality are second to none. Watching you take on a project like this has been amazing. All your skills put to the test. I have no doubt you could rebuild spacecraft at this point. I’m truly in awe of your skills.
Wow, thank you!
Holy 💩!!! This car will be a one of a kind gem that will be worth a fortune! It’s 10 times better than original!
I don't think it's a stretch to say this will be the best condition 240Z in the whole world when it's done, and yeah he fixed a bunch of factory defects too so it's better than brand new. 😄
@@Fe7Ace It will probably be straighter and smoother than a 0 mile original sitting in the Nissan museum in Japan lol. But really though. Nissan certainly didn't bother to silicon seal everything or undercoat before painting.
Thank you very much :-)
They seam sealed quite a lot actually, but not all.
THIS remains to be the MOST INCREDIBLE restoration of any vehicle ever.. Bet it out lives us all.
Thank you very much :-)
Been a follower of your channel for years and I have seen ALL your videos. It was the first video I saw you place sponsors and the way you did it was so well done that it did not detract from your content but peeked my curiosity enough to look them up. BRAVO! Your work is impeccable. Your attention to detail maddening and your video montage skills excellent ... please don't get fed up and make content as you see fit. We don't want another good creator to burn out this year 😊
Awesome! Thank you!
Как всегда великолепная работа! Без преувеличения получается лучше чем с завода! Это лучшая реставрация автомобиля, которую я когда-либо видел!
I love the color. This will be an educational video to the so-called car restorers out there. Absolutely remarkable. I can’t wait to see the high levels of perfection in every car part. What an amazing video that you’ve put together.
Yeah, that is fantastic lvl of details but remember that most restorers are running businesses and not making cars for themselves. Time is money, and there are not many people ready to pay for 48man days + materials on bodywork itself 😊
This is what I'm waiting for. I can't wait to see what he does under the hood!
@@krzysiek.w. Well yea, you get what you are willing to pay for. Most people are happy with having no rust and paint that isn't faded. What he's doing here is beyond what Nissan did at the factory, so, yea most people would not be willing to pay for that.
@@krzysiek.w. completely understand what you’re saying. I guess this is the pinnacle of the term restoration. It’s probably even to a higher standard than factory. But then you could say the factory needs to make money as well.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love how there is never (was never, either) ever any shortcuts! Your work is whole and complete. Your final product is the original product reincarnated or the original product made more perfect! Deep, deep appreciation!
You sir, should work for some museum. Preserving invaluable artifacts for future generations. Your crafstmanship and attention to detail feels supernatural to me, a clumsy office worker.
Seriously - his ability to repair, shape and recreate is so accurate it's almost down to a molecular level... and he makes it all look easy with his editing skills.

The wait was bearable.
And now you, like the rest of us, will have to learn the patience of the long wait. 😅
Thanks for watching, much appreciated
My ocd appreciates how clean your work area always is
Same here, perfectionists have an inherent itch lol!
Way to go ;-)
I've been watching this series waiting to see what color you would paint it, hoping beyond hope that it would be yellow - the color of the first car I ever bought with my own money, a 1970 Datsun 240z. And here we are, yellow. I could cry. I love you man. Thank you for this series!
Thank you very much, I'm glad you like it :-)
This car will come out way perfect than it was first produced. Flawless!!
Thanks a lot for being here :-)
I have to admit that color turned out better than I thought when you were painting the interior. It most definitely POPS! Now the fun part… putting it all back together without scratching the paint! Ha! Thank you for education and awesome entertainment, Sir. 👍👍👍
I totally agree!
Yes! This is exactly the color I was hoping you’d pick. Making it “pop” was a great choice. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

I am not a full fan of the paint color, but I can't deny the work you put into it is simply top notch. I wouldn't be surprised if this car lasts ages without a touch-up.
I appreciate your oppinion, thanks for watching :-)
Oh boy, this series just keeps getting better. I just know that when you're finished this car is going to be better that the day it rolled off the production line. Thank you for the video.

And both last two videos I’m pretty much right on the money. Great work as always! Cheers!
Thanks a lot for your support :-)
The gold is gorgeous, but I am so happy you chose anything but the brown. A car this carefully restored deserves way more than brown.
@@MidwestJedi Brown vv bad!:)
Eh, before painting it looked so dusty blue... I don't like yellow or brown. But the work done is truly magnificent!
Glad to hear that, thank you very much
FLAWLESS VICTORY!
Thank you very much, much appreciated :-)
Love the adjustment to the Safari Gold - this build deserves a one of a kind paint color.
I'm wanting some striping now!
Thank you very much, I really do appreciate it :-)
I just wanted to comment and say that all of your videos have really inspired me to take restoration to a whole new level.
I'm so glad that you went with a factory-correct color. The '70s had some vibrant colors and it looks fantastic in that gold color
Absolutely
The color is a great choice!! Your modification to make it more saturated was done in great taste. cannot wait to see this ride finished!

I wish my grandfather was alive to watch this channel with me. He would have loved it. I learned a lot of basic skills in his small workshop growing up, which prove useful regularly.
