Best QB in this class making plays under pressure / in the clutch. His OL and worse offensive coordinator were garbage in college but he still brought USC to their first Rose Bowl and Pac 12 title in a decade.
it means he's built like a linemen, tough to take down, likely would have to double him if he's moving. home boi reminds me of Big Ben. And if he that? the Jets gonna be a problem.
Way more athletic than Eli and he didn't throw that many interceptions in college, it was overall turnovers that were high because of 9 fumbles. But 13 ints on nearly 500 passing attempts isn't that many. Especially considering he threw the ball 200 more times than a guy like Josh Allen.
If you don't appreciate the excitement that Tony Romo brought as an incredible quarterback, the ability to improvise, to make something out of nothing, to extend the play, to push the ball down the field, to pull the trigger, to take the chance, to come from behind when he's already put 3+ TDs and 300+ yards on the board, week in and week out, to make a below average team relevant and a consistent playoff contender with absolutely no blocking/no running game/no defense, a leader on the field, a role model off the field; I'm sorry but you don't really love football. You just don't. You don't love football enough to know what in the hell you're talking about, anyway.
This, Pac 12 head coaches voted him 1st team over Rosen because of it. He’s a better playmaker, more mobile, better throwing on the run, and better in the clutch. The only thing I’d say Rosen has over him is deep ball. But Darnold’s deep ball is still solid.
Nah Darnold has a better deep ball but Rosens mechanics are a lot better. Also Rosen doesn't have much of a turnover problem as Darnold. He's just a better passer, but his attitude and injury concerns are what put Darnold above him.
Please H E L P Rosen had 10 INTs and 8 fumbles last season in 10.5 games. He doesn’t have less of a turnover problem. Darnold had 13 INTs and 9 fumbles... but he played a full 14 games. If Rosen stayed healthy and finished the season his turnover numbers should’ve been identical if not worse. Also I have no idea how you can say Darnold has a better deep ball it’s the one thing he’s always been criticized for. He ranked 49th out of NCAA QBs in passes over 30 yards downfield in 2016. Rosen has much better touch on his long ball. Also I’m not buying Rosen is a better passer overall. Mechanically yes but you can have beautiful mechanics while throwing an INT. Darnold led Rosen in every passing statistic. Passer rating, QBR, completion percentage, average yards per attempt, etc Darnold was better in. Maybe he didn’t look as aesthetically pleasing as Rosen when he did throw the ball but Darnold was a more effective passer in college. His career completion percentage of 64.9% is way higher than Rosen’s 60.9%. And he actually had less career INTs 22 for Darnold and 26 INTs for Rosen.
nothing against Darnold he's getting overhyped I graded him as a 2nd round prospect. in high school he was average. kind of like fultz a bust before college. (I PREDICTED FULTZ would be a bust MESSAGE ME FOR EVIDENCE). they just give him the attention because he's a prototype and off the field he's perfect. also they LOVE his arm. he throws picks, mechanical issues. too young and not ready to play in the NFL. he can be good but it'll take time and he won't be as good as Mayfield or Rosen.
How can you say in HS he was average when he was a WR/OLB for his first two years and was injured most of his junior season. He wasn't average, he was just new to being a QB and didn't get a lot of exposure. Unlike a guy like Josh Rosen that had been working with a private QB coach since elementary school, Darnold didn't even focus on QB or even football in HS. He was a 3-sport athlete and didn't have private coaching until college unlike most of the these high profile recruits. Trent Dilfer in this video even said it himself that Darnold's ceiling is ridiculously high because he hasn't been overtrained and overcoached and has a ton of growth ahead of him. He was basically playing off instincts in college and went 20-4 as a starter was a Rose Bowl MVP, set a ton of records at a prestigious program like USC, and was a Pac 12 1st team selection by the Pac 12 coaches... over Josh Rosen. The mechanical issues are overblown. He tightened up his release and mechanics are way down the list of things that aren't important for a QB. Philip Rivers has unorthodox mechanics, so did Farve, so does Russell Wilson. His anticipation and ability to throw WRs open and keep a play alive as well as deliver in the clutch are why teams are so high on him. There's no QB that was cooler under pressure in this draft class that brought their team back in the 4th quarter more often. I actually agree with you that his best case scenario is sitting for a bit and it will take time, but his ceiling is insanely high. Much higher than Rosen or Mayfield.
A-O his ceiling is high no doubt. we are talking ALOT on potential. I don't think he should have entered the draft this year but yeah he has crazy potential
Mayfield, Rosen, Allen, Jackson, Rudolph, Darnold...there is your quarterbacks in order of talent. Darnold is another overhyped USC QB who played in the PAC-12 and is not ready for Pro football. He reminds me of Jay Cutler but with a weaker arm.
Dale Hanks don't use that cheap usc excuse he has played less games than any other qb in the draft and yet he was still rated as the best by most experts

5:50 that receiver got rocked lmao
"He's built like Tony Romo" is like saying he's built like a meatball sub.
More like vegan meatball sub
Lets Read! He’s way more durable
it means he's built like a linemen, tough to take down, likely would have to double him if he's moving.
home boi reminds me of Big Ben. And if he that? the Jets gonna be a problem.

Toughness and interceptions. Goofy looking as hell.
If he's there at 2, he'd be Eli reborn.
Way more athletic than Eli and he didn't throw that many interceptions in college, it was overall turnovers that were high because of 9 fumbles. But 13 ints on nearly 500 passing attempts isn't that many. Especially considering he threw the ball 200 more times than a guy like Josh Allen.

Hm, a USC QB. Where have I seen this before...
If he’s even half as good as Romo was then he’s worth the number 1 pick
If you don't appreciate the excitement that Tony Romo brought as an incredible quarterback, the ability to improvise, to make something out of nothing, to extend the play, to push the ball down the field, to pull the trigger, to take the chance, to come from behind when he's already put 3+ TDs and 300+ yards on the board, week in and week out, to make a below average team relevant and a consistent playoff contender with absolutely no blocking/no running game/no defense, a leader on the field, a role model off the field; I'm sorry but you don't really love football. he's a gamer and smart. has toughness. great arm talent. but can he play the position?

Honestly I think he’s overrated I just don’t see the “it” factor with him.
Sean Olivas and thats why your not an expert who gets paid to anlayze football players to find the best talent around
