Even sunscreen isn't well regulated. The advertising is deceptive, (as in, youd have to use an unrealistic amount of certain products to get the labled spf. But of course advertisers don't have to tell you that.) the us doesn't have a system for rating uva protection beyond "broad spectrum," and a shit ton of products end up not having the labled spf, regardless of how much you use! It's over regulated in some ways, and over regulated in others. The US is a mess when it comes to spf!
If the umbrella is opaque like those with metallic finishes, it’s a full on barriers and will block but you still get the surrounding sky’s ambient emitted UVs.

Why are the revies on Amazon showing it's NOT protective at all? Plus, many are saying that its also flimsy, falls apart quickly + they say there is a strip of light that goes through between the band and the actual visor.
Those light sources (and computer screens and phone screens etc) are so weak that they really don't matter. The one exception seem to be UV lights in nail salons, that's why many now offer gloves before using them.

Wait for it to turn purple. I take it inside. Wait for it to turn white and then I take it back outside and place it under the item that is supposed to protect from UV and I leave it there for 10 to 15 minutes and if I come back out and it is purple when it should be white then I return the item
