"Dude can play" is putting it VERY lightly. Greg Koch can play ANYTHING.......EVERY STYLE.......AND HE ABSOLUTELY HAS IT ALL MASTERED. So humble, and hilarious to talk to.......but an absolute monster on guitar.
I love how Lee does these videos with people. He lets the other person finish what they're saying and talk about themselves without interrupting them like many other people in Lee's position would. Also, he always seems fully intrigued by what the other person has to say. Much respect Lee.
Like Joe Bonamassa said about Greg "one of the best guitar players in the world, and an even better person." I've known Greg since 1995 and the guy is fantastic all the way around. Amazing person and a vicious guitar player.
Greg Koch is on a higher plain of guitar existence, very underrated. Been watching his channel for years and he just has a great picking style and technique all his own. He is very funny and would make a great TV personality.
Greg is a BEAST!!! One of the top ten best players on the planet! Plus he's super sweet and crazy funny (-_-) Thank you Lee for having him on your show! :-)
I saw the length of the video and thought I'd pop in and listen a while but wont listen to the whole thing. Wrong. Stayed the whole time. Great stuff guys.
You have to check this RJ Ronquillo out if you haven't seen his channel. Love his style of play. Another amazing guitarist. ua-cam.com/video/meLSNkktAEU/v-deo.html
If Gregory Kochery was to ever move to England, I’d think he’d make a great addition to the demonstrators on the Andertons channel. Imagine him and Danish Pete!!! My god man the licks.
What they don’t specifically mention in the conversation about Greg’s career path and success is that Greg’s an extraordinary talent (above and beyond many of those we think of as extraordinary).
A family of academics, that makes perfect sense. A good sense of humour is often an indication of intelligence. he's a smart dude and a fantastic guitar player.
What I love with Greg is how he constantly tricks his mind, how he pushes words and how his mind and the word coming from his mouth trick him back. Amazing persona.
The people who click on an hour long interview featuring a fella they don't like just to comment that they don't like the guy. Man, you guys are missing the point.
They are known as "miserable, wretched TROLLS". Their "mission" in life, is to spread their own misery onto everyone else. They are also desperate for attention, because they have no one to play with, and I mean "play" in every sense of the word.
It's funny I was thinking yesterday we hadn't seen enough of the Captain recently, still the most enjoyable UA-cam videos, then up pops this with the wonderful Greg Koch. Really great player and super guy. Thanks for this Mr. Anderton.
Greg Koch is a fantastic guitarist with an amazing sense of comedy. That mix would kill many people from reaching beyond local limitations, but he is world renowned and this video proves that.
I learned back in the 80's and it was more magical to a point. Maybe not as much as learning in the 70's but with all the hair metal, guitar magazines and new tab books...it was a fun time! Now a days I flip on youtube and learn everything quickly(to which I've learned more since the advent of youtube than all previous years combined but there's no magic in figuring something out).
What an extraordinary man and incredibly talented individual. Highly articulate and unbelievably versatile. Well presented! Brilliant! Thank you. Gary from Australia/Tasmania
The Pedals can be purchased currently at greg Koch.com as well as tcjeffects.com. They are totally hand made and I currently am backlogged a few months.
I must confess I've been mall walking too. I'm 58 and probably the youngest person there, but I've dropped 82 pounds since the first of September, so it's all fine. Unfortunately, they've just opened a new store called "Village Idiot." I kid you not. I just know some wise guy in gonna send me a gift certificate for Christmas. I'm gonna re-gift that thing faster speeding bullet.
By far the funniest Captain meets ever. I have never heard the people behind the scenes laughing so hard. And Lee is becoming a great interviewer. Great job.
Oh Koch! I wish that I knew Greg was in town . His got such a way with words and I just can't help but be fascinated with all he does. 🎸 Rock on Gregory Kochery 👿
Man, this was one of the longest videos I've watched, BUT it is worth every GLORIOUS second to be with Greg Koch! Thank you Capitan. BTW-I swapped out my 96 Strat Plus gold Lace sensors with the Fishman Fluence pick ups and haven't looked back, Cheers!!
Listening to Greg describe his youth reminds me so much of my own and probaby thousands of more aspiring guitarist kids from that "Brady Bunch/Zep/" 70's era. He is so right about how before MTV you could only gets glimpses of your favorite guitar players or bands. Learning was much harder. You either had a good ear or a good guitar player friend ; ) Then in '78 or '79 the Van Halen album came out and that changed the game forever... Also: Hondo LP copy.... The 1st or 2nd guitar ever donated to the "Hard Rock Cafe" was a "Fender Lead II" given by Eric Clapton.... "...Life changing guitar moment?" Seeing SRV for the first time in 1984 a week after graduating high school. All bets were off after that show, lol : ) Great interview, Greg Koch is a guitar god!! And that Roy Buchanan album on Alligator records rips.....
Greg's sense of humor can be heard in his playing. I love it.
Yep.
Salama Nicolas Haha so true !
Haha you’re right
"At the end of days, there'll be cockroaches and Telecasters." Absolutely CLASSIC Greg Koch. Best Captain Meets interview ever!
..the cockroaches will be playing the teles!! that was my fave moment too!!
And they will be in tune.
Don't forget that you can treat them like a farm animal and they'll be coming back for more!
Agreed. Best so far
😁
I went on a Greg Koch UA-cam rampage after this video. Dude can play.
SamEricEdge - did you see Metal Poppins? If you haven't, search for it.
"Dude can play" is putting it VERY lightly. Greg Koch can play ANYTHING.......EVERY STYLE.......AND HE ABSOLUTELY HAS IT ALL MASTERED. So humble, and hilarious to talk to.......but an absolute monster on guitar.
Howabouthetruth I agree 100%. Dude can PLAY.
welcome to the family....
He did a live performance of ‘Spank It’ several years ago - it was incredible.
I don’t know this guy (should crawl out of my metal-bubble more often, sorry guys), but 5 minutes in I’m sold. This guy is a genius.
Same here. I’m a hard rock & metal guy myself…. Koch, Johnny Hiland & Andy Wood are all not metal - but they are INCREDIBLE players.
I love how Lee does these videos with people. He lets the other person finish what they're saying and talk about themselves without interrupting them like many other people in Lee's position would. Also, he always seems fully intrigued by what the other person has to say. Much respect Lee.
Absolutely, well put.
I never get tired of listening to the Mansquatch!
Greg is a national treasure!
Best "Captain Meets..." yet!! This could've gone on for 3 hours and I would watch every second.
That was your BEST guest interview !!! ... It is just as entertaining to sit and listen to him talk as much as listening to him play
Like Joe Bonamassa said about Greg "one of the best guitar players in the world, and an even better person." I've known Greg since 1995 and the guy is fantastic all the way around. Amazing person and a vicious guitar player.

And you thought Koch was joking when he called Lee "The Demon Seed".
I did the same thing.
Haha...same
Steamboat Willie - I pipped you at 0.009 ...
Greg Koch is on a higher plain of guitar existence, very underrated. Been watching his channel for years and he just has a great picking style and technique all his own. He is very funny and would make a great TV personality.
Guitardudeguy 313 I don’t want him on TV and he is not underrated .)
Greg is a BEAST!!! One of the top ten best players on the planet! Plus he's super sweet and crazy funny (-_-) Thank you Lee for having him on your show! :-)
Most underrated guitar player in the world!
Love listening to Greg, both musically and verbally! He's a good kinda crazy.
One of the best "meets" yet. Thanks Andertons!!
Greg's flow of ideas both musical and verbal is well....pretty unique!
I saw the length of the video and thought I'd pop in and listen a while but wont listen to the whole thing. Wrong. Stayed the whole time. Great stuff guys.
I watch his videos everyday ! He is a wonderful character, a great guitarist and a teacher.
One of the very best guitarists on UA-cam and seems like an all round great bloke. His demos are always incredible. Love him. Love this :)
You have to check this RJ Ronquillo out if you haven't seen his channel. Love his style of play. Another amazing guitarist. ua-cam.com/video/meLSNkktAEU/v-deo.html
The Kochster Disembowels Trucks in 5 minutes here. What a joy it is to watch and listen to this man. Legend.
My favourite UA-camrs in a single video..Mr. Koch is an inspiration..
If Gregory Kochery was to ever move to England, I’d think he’d make a great addition to the demonstrators on the Andertons channel. Imagine him and Danish Pete!!! My god man the licks.
Imagine the jokes
The Gospel of Mark I think he makes the Danish fella look like a beginner to be honest,he's insane !
That would be insanely awesome
It would be so epic that it can never happen. The fabric of spacetime itself would be torn asunder.
Adam mc Yeh up until he does, I'm jazz fusioning 3 notes at a time, laughing cause I did to many tricks. No he's awesome.
Really does get the "Derek" sound with the slide! Gorgeous!
I know what I’m doing tomorrow... watching this again ✊🏼
Greg is such a riot! One of my favorite interviews from Andertons. Thanks Lee and crew!
‘I can’t play all those notes so I don’t want to hear someone play all those notes’ NAILED it
Best interview yet - on both sides. Greg is so good he's like a Tele-savant!!
This is definitely my favorite video from the channel. I get myself watching it over and over again. Awesome guy this one.
One of the best Andertons vids ever.
Lee, total home run interview!
Finally my hero on Andertons!
Best player to ever appear in one of these videos
I love this guy. Run for president Greg....please run for president, please!
Koch is a monster. Crazy good. His personality DEFINITELY comes through in his playing.
I've been waiting for this one - well played Captain!
When I first saw how long it was, I was a bit reluctant to watch it, but I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Nice job guys!
Such a brilliant interview.
Love to see The Captain meet Derek Trucks
Incredible player….equally as impressive as any player on the planet and has such a great feel and improvisational gift….
Johan Segeborn will tell you those 12-watt transistor Marshalls from back in the day still sound awesome :)
What they don’t specifically mention in the conversation about Greg’s career path and success is that Greg’s an extraordinary talent (above and beyond many of those we think of as extraordinary).
I've never heard of this guy but my god is he good
Greg and I have the same stories.I'm 57 and it was a wonderous magical time for guitarists in the 70s. All gone now.
Haven't laughed this much during a Andertons video since Miku.
Love Greg Koch, he's that warm, fun you tube video player that always brings a smile to my face when I see his videos. What a talent!
Captain meets Greg Koch...It's Christmas come early...
gregory is an absolute treasure...great interview...
Sunday morning gristle!!!
5 years on... Super Fun to watch!
Like button just by reading the title:)
Without a doubt the Captains interviews are some of the truly best UA-cam music journalism and musicology. . Plus always great gear and playing ...
FEAST!
Made my day :)
Ggreg is THE MAN!
Greg is in the UK? How incredibly cool, plus he's not reading instruments specs and serial numbers, just chatting and playing. Perfect!
No thank you, I won't be attending the wedding. I'll be home nerding out with two of my favorite people on Andertons TV.
A family of academics, that makes perfect sense. A good sense of humour is often an indication of intelligence. he's a smart dude and a fantastic guitar player.
When Greg talks about his influences he never mentions Foghorn Leghorn :o)
What I love with Greg is how he constantly tricks his mind, how he pushes words and how his mind and the word coming from his mouth trick him back. Amazing persona.
The people who click on an hour long interview featuring a fella they don't like just to comment that they don't like the guy. Man, you guys are missing the point.

Mr Koch just exhibits and injects so much joy and laughter into the business of playing the guitar. Wonderful guy!
Yep, the point is move on to something you like and make nice comments there, coz nobody gives a fuck lol.
one of the most interesting interviews I've seen in a long long time
I'm looking forward to hearing more about the Koch Gregory amp, with its extensive controls for reverb, harmonic tremolo and standard tremolo.
It's funny I was thinking yesterday we hadn't seen enough of the Captain recently, still the most enjoyable UA-cam videos, then up pops this with the wonderful Greg Koch. Really great player and super guy. Thanks for this Mr. Anderton.
If Robin Williams had amazing guitar chops, he'd have been Greg Koch.
Very apt description.
The number one person I would most like to take lessons from in the whole wide world... Living or dead... Of all time...
COME!!!
I think we need a "The captain meets Rick Graham"
Greg is one of my all time favorite players. Great video!
Lee couldn't get a word or a note in edgewise ... but it was glorious! :-)

*The Captain Meets John Mayer*
I've dreamt of seeing this upload for years. Make it happen, cap'n.

Hiding in the toilets watching this at Waterstones whilst the wife does Xmas shopping x

Gavin!
@@Darkgl4ss GAaaavin! ''Have you seen my mate Gavin?''
Just 36 minutes in and this is the best interview of Greg Koch I've ever seen. Thanks, Cap!
Then one we’ve all been waiting for. The coming of the messiah
Greg Koch is a fantastic guitarist with an amazing sense of comedy. That mix would kill many people from reaching beyond local limitations, but he is world renowned and this video proves that.
After this show upgrading Mr. Koch´s Wikipedia entry is a breeze.
FANTASTIC interview Captain. Thanks for letting him just talk and jumping in with the occasional question. Cheers
This guy is hilarious but can play his ass off Greg Koch love your UA-cam videos 🎸👏

This pagan rock overlord sure knows how to wield his mighty axe!
Quickly becoming my fave guitar hero! So much personality and humour in his playing. A Master

Thumbs up for Mark Knopfler!

What a fine person...and what a fine interviewer. Thanks for that! Much appreciated...
Greg is an amazing guitarist. Have had the pleasure of seeing him play a few times when he came to Sydney. Just phenomenal.
That was great. Thanks for hosting Mr Koch. Super. interview - he’s fantastic and really enjoyed the discussion.
By far the funniest Captain meets ever. I have never heard the people behind the scenes laughing so hard. And Lee is becoming a great interviewer. Great job.
