Of all the stages to achieve a S rank, this one is by far my personal least favorite stage to go through, from the beginning with sauna’s slippery physics, annoying enemy encounters especially the guys who kneel drops you and the burgatory elevator section where the enemy can knock you off and damage your health from it is the worst thing worthwhile. But I’m happy that you went out of your way to guide us from atrocious stage in the whole game at least for me though, not sure for everyone else who reading this but thank you.
Just wanted to say a big thank you for your SOR4 videos. I was really struggling with stages 4 and 9 in terms of trying to get an S rank on hard difficulty for the Maniac trophy. I've left a comment on this video specifically because Y Tower by far caused me the most amount of difficulty. I see from your videos that the trick is to get high combos but make sure that you don't lose acummulated combo points by getting hit causing a break in the chain. It also helped me refine trying to pick up food with a full heath bar for extra points. I finally got my platinum trophy last weekend. Arcade run on hard difficulty was the final thing I had to do. Luckily alll that s rank training paid off so I just about managed it on my first attempt. Anyway thanks again and sorry for the long messge!

Man I wish I could go back and play your version of the game from 8 months ago. Whatever patches happened since then made max never stand still to be able to land any hits, pretty much requires a fight stick controller to be able to exit his grapple, and he seems to hit way harder now. :-(
I hope the tips will help you with Blaze. Keep in mind that Floyd can pick up enemies and walk and then throw them. This is really amazing for the elevator part.
I don't understand why people are having such a tough time with Possessed Max... Jump to avoid his Thunder Tackle and his grab, if you do get grabbed, mash the buttons and either the control stick or D pad (whichever one you use to move) as quick as you can and you'll escape his grab every time (not on the 2nd half of the fight though). In the 1st half of the fight, I never even try to avoid getting grabbed, because it's that easy to break out of. When avoiding the tackle, watch Max closely. He crouches slightly right before he charges. His Spinning Knuckle Bomb has short range, and therefore characters with greater range can hit him while he is spinning. The only move I can understand getting hit by a lot is the dropkick. Besides that, he is piss easy because he telegraphs every move except the dropkick, but if you stay somewhat close to him, he won't use it that often.
It’s almost impossible to get rank S on this stage after the new update. Not only Max is harder and more aggressive (more shoulder charges) but also the threshold for ranks S is over 23.000. I arrive in the boss with 12.000 sometimes 14.000 and Max drains my health to zero lives in a blink.
@@GiacomoVaccari I did, after hours and hours, with Cherry. I was extra careful on Max, using the forward, forward, square attack and jumping over him whenever he came with the shoulder bash. But as I said, no easy task at all. I hope these hints can help you.

On the Playstation the jump and punch button are square and cross. I smash both buttons with my entire thumb while pressing away from Max. Hope this helps.
The game updated. Making some levels a little bit harder than usual. The last level is a perfect example. That wrecking ball in the middle of that stage was removed, and you get twice as much of the obese enemies attacking you. Not to mention, Ms.Y got some fight in her as well.
The last patch really made Max too agressive, It gets stupidly hard. Its broken for sure, a Boss like that shouldnt be this way, buffed with out control/testing. Its the last stage for me to get S rank. Crap.

I've been trying for several hours and I agree. Any other levels I get S without even trying hard, I think it's "broken" now

Floyd is the absolute best character for the elevator. He can toss enemies out of it so easily it almost feels like cheating.
How do you set yourself free from Max's grab? What combination on the PC version?

They probably added more enemies in Patch 1.03, which included a lot of balance updates.

Balance Patch 1.03 which was released in september 2020.
I got really close many times on this level but I can't fucking get the S Rank. I got withing 150 points of S Rank twice now...
