Man, another great and hilarious edit! I loved how you made a little cinematic for Throggs burp back then and I love this little cutscene here. I hope we see more of this tomfoolery in the future, love it.
I think Domination battles are a fine addition, but there's something about classic land battles that just feels right. Just two massive armies going at each other.
Also, good to see those Minotaur's mass is finally fixed lol.
I just wish we could get dojos from Shogun 2 back, its so annying when people just camp mountains
Domination is terribly boring to watch.
I did my first MP battle, a land battle, yesterday. Khorne v Kislev. With two flying Bloodthirsters, two Skullcannon bikes, Flesh hounds and 4 units of silver chevron Chaos Warriors rallied by a Cultist of Khorne, I prevailed.
OH THANK THE GODS! Finally a regular land battle! Never thought that would be such a difficult thing to see

I absolutely love how a lot of matches appear to be down to the very last man with the units holding or breaking and coming back and forth even with a lot of damage on them.

An army of Khorne without any Flesh Hounds seems to be a bit of a mistake in almost every matchup though. Little bastards just seem to be the best unit in the game right now.
Well, the thing is, they trade really well into traditional mid-tier shock cav (winged lancers and presumably also empire knights and the likes) because unlike regular warhounds they are decently tough and have a lot of weapon strength, making them very capable at killing models.
I think a lot of people presently make the mistake of just thinking of them as slightly upgraded warhounds, when they really are warbeasts and as such a different category of unit.
To mess with them, you'd be better off using dedicated anti-large cav like the bear riders, halberds or large monsters or just ranged. Also, making use of magic damage would be advisable.
I think certain factions such as the Wood Elves aren't gonna struggle all that much against them.

Nice "call an ambulance but not for me" finish. The opportunity for close ending like these is one of the good features of classic land battles.

Introducing capture points into Multiplayer is great idea imo.
But domination mode ist currently missing the maneuvering and positioning of armies with clever formations which is the most interesting characteristic of total war.
Much bigger main armies and more open maps with no chokepoints would be a possible solution.
At the very least, three capture points. Being forced to split your army into smaller pieces so the game devolves into three separate micro-heavy blob fights straight up isn't my cup of tea.
It is very easy to underestimate how much of a difference the map topology makes.
Especially coming from starcraft, the way the game is played was completely redefined not so much through DLC adding new units or balance patches, but rather by making maps a lot bigger / resources more spread out etc.
So I definetly agree that there is very large room for diversity on the map end, ideally we would get a system where players can create maps themselves! In sc, these eventually even ended up being what the default in-game ladder is played on, to the advantage of everybody involved.

But the reinforcements trickling into the capture points also take away from the gameplay imo.
7:32 I love Skarbrands body language here - every other daemon lord collapses when they die and are sent back to the Realm of Chaos. Skarbrand however looks at himself like he can't believe this is happening, that he was beaten, before screaming in rage as he is banished.
Skarbrand is the only lord in the game who, even in death, cannot be knocked down.

I'm welcoming the new modes and effort CA layed into MP and all, but you gotta keep the land battles a thing! I, for one don't find domination that engaging to watch, and there are plenty of content for them as well, so I hope these kind of videos are keep coming from you Bear(d)man!

Bruh this was so much more entertaining than a domination battle.
Classic ending there, I remember something similar from a 3 v 3 you casted looong ago, on warpstone crater, where a dawi lord who had more leadership than HP came back to assist an empire captain to finish off some druuchi.
GG loved seeing a land battle with the only faction I find at all interesting; kislev are going to be a delight to main until my rattobois arrive along with the rest of faction 1 and 2, at which point kislev will be a delight to gat down in a hail of missiles, mortar fire and war-crimes, while my grey seer sits, cackling his megalomaniacal cackle, atop his bell swinging back and forth with a zeal only warpstone railed through a hot glass rod can provide.
I love and hate rats! I like their gameplay but playing them is kind of easy... legendary campaign is way to easy with Ikkit.
And that is why i hate them. Still to strong in campaign. Even in MP they can do a lot of things.

@@tinkerbell1337 This is why people such as Z and I are somewhat forced into the MP scene, despite (and I can only speak for myself here) very much preferring not to :P I play games to escape people, and CA's AI is simply not up to the task and I cannot for the life of me figure out why, when there are free machine learning tools available, why has CA not implemented some machine learning that takes data from, oh I dunno, the steam player base, and use it to train an AI capable of offering some modicum of challenge.
I don't expect CA to simply whip up AlphaGO TW edition ( I don't need to be humiliated either haha alphago is crazy scary) however, they've got all the tools, they've got everything. Except the drive. :(
@@therealdoomsage I made a similar comment on total war Reddit last year, apparently training an AlphaGo-style AI on Total War would be prohibitively expensive for a games company. Those things require scientific-grant sized funding, at least for now

We'll still be able to get land battles with random opponents easily, right? As long as that's the case, I won't care because ladder for land battles wasn't indicative of skill anyway. I'm sure lots of people will still want to play land battles
@@yupyupwassup6864 I'm afraid that no matchmaking will be available, just the good old MP lobbies set to fiels battle and 2 players.
Land battles will always be players bases favorite and CA will sooner or later be forced to fix the issue.

Cheers to you for showcasing a landbattle. Domination may be fun to play, but it gets "same-y" to watch (& it misses out on climatic endings!)
On a technical level, I feel like the Khorne player managed to fend off a lot of damage by using those speedy dogs. It's really cool seeing how you could use one of the few "fast" Khorn units to maintain so much control on the battlefield.
Land Battle is better than Domination mode. Much more fun to watch.
That Boris coming back moment reminded me of that dwarf lord saving the battle in wh2

I'd watch both land battles and domination, I'll watch either, but I do prefer land battles at the moment.
Really great report - good fun and excellent ending - like many others remember fondly the Dwarf Lord from THAT battle report.
domination may be good to balance ranked battles, but for cinematic purposes, land battles will always be king
you can't balance domination sadly. some unit type don't even have a purpose anymore. when all factions merge it will be obvious.
I like how the entire Khorne bar was the minotaurs all this time.

I think I'd be happiest with 80% land 20% domination as an ideal mix on UA-cam, but go with what you enjoy

I don't know why but this is the video that made me realise I need to play multiplayer more, I mean, I'll be as bad at multiplayer as I am at campaign but that was fucking epic.
What a game eh, even last night before turn 20 with Karl Franz I had two epic battles, a quest battle and one defending a gate.
I'm going to sink another 500 hours at least into this one, probably closer to 1000 by the end.

I like both, I feel I no need to diss the domination battles, but a mix of both is always better, than just one.
But with *all* the content creators pushing out domination content I think this is needed like a sip of water on a hot day.

Land Battles are nice, I'd probably prefer about 20% domination battle coverage tbh.
Domination battles are more interesting for a viewer, because it seems more tactical and its easier to follow. However land battles are more cinematic by far. That Boris cut was great for example.
I think the opposite. Domination is "throw your best units in this spot to take it" battle. That's not much of a tactical battle.

I have actually no experience in WH3 myself but from what i observed i think blood thirsters plus flesh hounds Plus minotaurs great weapons will the absolute meta for Khorne players in all custom PVP battles soon after game released
The mobility and shock damage that these units offering is immense
You just need to build your army around these and you have the upper hand against anything even Nurgle
because minotaurs plus booldthirsters are excellent counter to what ever nurgle can bring

Fun video! Even though the Kislev army was superior, he managed to keep the odds even throughout the game granting us a bit of thrill
