Love this old Nova. Cars didn't have to get complicated. But look where we are now. Most of us older guys don't have the extensive range of diagnostic equipment it takes to do you own repairs. A code reader will tell you there's a problem but it won't go into great detail to diagnose. If the ECM fails in my van I can't just go get a new or used one and bolt it in. It has to be installed and flashed to match the VIN no. My point is we've let the government grow and the EPA is completely out of control and this is why your car is an electronic & mechanical nightmare as it ages & needs repair.

I loved the 60's and early 70's muscle cars plus the room under the hood and trunk space. I had a 71 Nova SS in 1978. It would go very well.
Had a 67 Chevy Caprice SS with 396 . Bought it when I was 14 and it had all the gauges factory. So much power and would get 7 mpg on a good day lol.
You would not believe me but I made a race car with a 72 Ford pinto using the original 2.0 engine. Would do 137 mph in 3rd gear. Have no idea how fast it would go in 4th.

As a 20th century mechanic, I appreciate cars like this. Easy to work on, with simple systems.
For years, growing up, there was a big tall tripod in my back yard. My older brother and his friends would but old junkers, and make hot rods out of them. They'd park the cars under that tripod, pull the motor out, rebuild, hop up, and put it back in the car, in just a few days. I learned so much. Cars aren't like they were in the 60's and 70's. Now they are highly computerized, and modular. If you can afford the scanners, you can do a lot to fix the new cars. I've done that too, in the last 20-25 years.
Cars are so cool. And I really dig watching guys like Jared, finding some of these awesome classics, and sharing them with us..
    Thank You!!

Had two Nova ss 70 and 76 ,had double hump heads on both, wish I would have been smarter, and held on to my old muscle cars, I would have been a wealthy man, young dumb and full of ___ ,fill in the blank. Man, those were the "good ol' days" bruh... the engine bay had so much room you could climb up under there and take a nap... they were very easy to work on... hell, back then, you could build a full out race car right in your own garage... nowadays, you have to have a shop or garage that resembles the bridge of the Starship Enterprise just to do a tuneup... it sucks...
Man, that dashboard and those wing windows brought back some memories...
Great looking and sounding car, and great video... I liked it...

I had a 72 Chevy Nova, MAN I LOVED THAT CAR! IT WAS MY BABY! I was Active Duty U.S.Army at the time and was transferred overseas. As a E-4 I was not authorized to take a POV (Privately Owned Vehicle) with me at Government expense and it was an unaccompanied Tour (means could not take my family with me) so left my car with my wife here in the States. One night the car ended up wrapped up around a tree. The Police report showed someone else was driving! Came home got a quick Divorce, collected the Insurance payment from my wrecked car and went back overseas. Still miss that car, but not her!

My Pop always told me, the more grind you see, the better it is to work on & I totally agree. As a part time wrench, I love it that way. If I could afford it, I'd buy it.

Love the old classic cars. The new ones may be faster and have all the luxury but they can’t compete with the style and character the old cars have.

I had a 72 Nova coupe. The cheapest model my dad could afford for me to commute to college. It made me pretty good mechanic. 6c, 250, 2 speed auto trans, no AC. The engine was rebuilt twice. I could never afford to improve it. Kept it 18 years. Yes, I remember being able to crawl into the engine compartment to work on a friend's car on a roadside in the driving rain. The room in that Nova and the simplicity was a luxury.
