      Yep the big block was dropped in x bodies after 1970. It might be a real SS but it wasn't ever a BB car from the factory.

    Had three buddies who owned '70 Novas, 396/375 hp with a 4 sps. Also a couple friends who had the '66 L79 325/350 hp Novas. Big fan of Chevy II/Novas

    My first car was a 72 Nova SS 350 4 speed. Bright red on black with a quarter vinyl roof and rally wheels. I was cruising in style back in 1980 when I was 16.

    They stopped big blocks in 1970 in 1971 and up the largest engine is a 350 270hp in a SS. "DONT GET SUCKERD" as a Novas owner this is a $23K to $27K car.

    Really like the car. She's been pieced together from different stuff. '70 was the last year for a big block Nova. Small blocks after that. Still a nice car. Presents well. Rather have the stock steering wheel. Hood is from a '69. Best looking hood IMO. Thx for the upload.

  • @natew8882
    @natew8882 3 роки тому +5

    Not all Nova Super Sports had the rocker molding. I believe that is a trim appearance group option that could be ordered on any Nova and also included the door frame aluminum anodized moldings which are not chrome and not stainless as often described. Steve is great with the Mopars!
    Trunk lid, trunk pan? Its all the same.

    • @NovaResource
      @NovaResource 3 роки тому +3

      Correct. The rocker trim is not an SS part. It and the chrome around the side windows was part of the RPO-ZJ2 Custom Exterior Package Package. However, there should be another thinner piece of trim above the rocker trim that goes across the lower fender, door, and quarter panel (before and after the wheel openings) with black paint between the two trims.

    Steve, I’m disappointed in you. You should know there were no big block Novas after 1970. That was the last year for the 396, really a 402. That car is a cloned SS. Without a build sheet, impossible to tell if it’s a real SS. Oh, and that bumper filler panel should be argent silver, not body color. Nice car though.

    • @NovaResource
      @NovaResource 3 роки тому +3

      Bingo! You are totally correct. The steering wheel is also incorrect. Lastly, the large reverse lenses in the tail lights are 1972, not 1971.

    Nice car, however, the driver side door has some noticeable fitment issues. The bottom right sticks out and the window frame does not match the lines of the rear window frame. May just need an adjustment (which you'd think the sellers would have done before doing a video) or the unibody has been tweaked making adjustment and correct fitment impossible.

    I’ve literally sold over 2000 cars in my career and whenever I placed an ad I always included a ‘list’ price (against the grain of many dealers) so as not to waste my time or the customers’ with needless inquiries. Very nice, but bright Yellow doesn't do that car any favors. Quick look at color chart, showed code #519 dark yellow to be a slightly different shade.
    A few small BB and SS factoids, ...ALL big block Nova's moved the heater core outlets to middle of the heater box to avoid the large cylinder heads(which this car has) AND a factory SS hood has small tabs attached to inner structure, that strengthen the attaching point for the hood louvers. Also yes, all SS Nova's had power disc brakes AND a 12 bolt posi, with 5 leaf springs.
    Thanks for sharing.

      Positraction was optional and not standard on any 1968-1970 Super Sport Nova. Just like any other Chevrolet of this period. Disc brakes and power brakes were also optional in 1968 on the Nova Super Sport. Non Power Front drum brakes were standard on the 1968 Nova Super Sport. It wasn't until 1969 that power disc brakes were standard on a Super Sport Nova, just like the 1969 Chevelle SS396. I have owned my 1969 Nova Super Sport since 1988. It is all original. It is a 350 car and has power disc brakes which are standard equipment.

      They are not Rally wheels. They are 1969 or 1970 SS or Super Sport wheels. They only came 14 X 7.
      This particular car has Factory 14 X 7 up front and 15 x 8 aftermarket wheels in the back. The way you can tell is the aftermarket trim ring on the 15 x 8. Poor choice as those rear tires are going to rub the fenders for sure.

    I don't think it matters if its a replica BB or not meaning a TRUE 396 car if the engine is a 454.
    Will the numbers tell if it's an LS-6 with 450 hp or the 390 hydraulic version? LS-6 had the 4 bolt, 11 to 1 pistons and the solid cam just like the 427/425. Hopefully if they put so much work into that it wasn't a mix and match garage engine build. With some tuning and good traction should be a 12 second car

      @@kenf2662 bruh I had a 74. Red coupe. Originally a 250. Swapped it out for a 350. Rochester 750 cfm, edelbrock aluminum intake, headers, dual exhaust. What a beast! When you jumped on it, the window wash fluid would squirt onto the windshield. Sold it in 1989 for 1k. Needed quarters. My father told me someday you are going to regret selling that car. He was right about that and pretty much everything else!

      No such thing as a Rally Sport Nova. Only the 1971-72 Rally Nova (no sport) or the 1977-79 Nova Rally (also, no sport). Rally Sport was a Camaro option, not Nova.

    You guys, 69' 70' rims what happen to the 71' rally rims you know why, because they don't make them aftermarket just like everything on this car is aftermarket.
