I have played accordion my whole life and was pretty good...good enough to pay my way through law school playing at weddings and parties and I also was a fan of all the great accordionists throughout history of all styles....THIS GUY IS THE GREATEST accordionist I have ever seen or heard Nobody I have ever seen can play the left hand with this degree of virtuosity UNBELIEVABLE
Phenomenal mastery of the accordion. Rare ability of equivalence of left and right hand. No one error or dissonance throughout. Greetings from Bulgaria.
if you look carefully the bass mechanism is enclosed in clear plastic. that's so cool! Also seems to be a reversed quint system with low octaves close to bass strap instead of near register switches.
This is consummate mastery at it's finest. Very unique left hand construction ; skeleton framing to optimize sound (no bass plate, and the cover completely removed revealing all the mechanism.). Certainly extremely uncomfortable to play. Plus it's the Titano six-row system, a six-row system that reproduces the two-row Stradella system of fourths, fifths, and upper thirds at octave intervals. Absolutely hellish to play. Master Ariondo must have had a phenomenally powerful "mental". His teacher (thanks for informing us of this) Tommy Gumina was the first to have arranged, and recorded, a version of this piece. It seems that Ariondo took it much further. This is pure wizardry at work. Very admirable. However, I'm afraid that it might not be the best approach to get the accordion out of it's closed claustrophobic tight circle. Don't get me wrong, this gentleman deserves praise, but our instrument still has roads to take before holding hands with other instruments and traveling down NEW roads. But Maestro Ariondo will go down the Hall of Fame, may God bless his soul.
Even if one hated the accordion and never wanted to listen to one......this video would change your life forever after listening, admiring this extreme talent and not understanding at all how someone can play like this.....he is not human, he is definitely one of those (an alien).....as no mere mortal could play the 120 bass like this with the left hand...it's impossible!! Not only this video, but everything you play is a masterpiece! OMG....that's all I can say.....Nick my boy....you are genius....you are simply genius.....big hugs from Samoa.....
ACCO-Music/Nick Ariondo very much appreciate your kind words. Through his arrangements, compositions & performances, Nick continues to showcase the beauty of the accordion in a variety of styles -- his specially designed left-hand free-bass system allows for this incomparable Paganini arrangement.....Thank you.
Outstanding performance! Just curious why the left hand bass covers (top and sides) were completely removed. Have never see anyone do that before and it seems like it could be damaging to the bass rods. Just wondering what the reason could be. Thanks.
Nick sad to report Tommy passed away Oct 23 RIP. We'll be flying to LA to attend his services Nov 3. He was my father figure guru teacher bandmate friend. cliff in tokyo
this should be presented in Carnegite Hall in NY It is more impressive then playingg the same on violin the amazing corditioan send me your meail i play jazz accordion would like to be in touch thanks gideon

C. Play it WHILE playing 3rd's.....
D. That's 3rd's.... IN THE BASS!!
Holy God.
Phenomenal mastery of the accordion. Rare ability of equivalence of left and right hand. No one error or dissonance throughout. Greetings from Bulgaria.
With my talent it would take me five centuries to play 50% as good as this genius!

I never get tired of watching and listening to this video plus it's the best arrangement I have heard of this piece for accordion.
if you look carefully the bass mechanism is enclosed in clear plastic. that's so cool! Also seems to be a reversed quint system with low octaves close to bass strap instead of near register switches.
Excellent Nick, I studied and played with Tommy and Art Pepper for 2 years in the 70's, man I had the time of my life!
I is hard to think a man can play this, without seeing this video. Really impressing and diverting at the same time.
Nick Ariondo has set the bar so high
that there is no room left
for anyone else to jump the bar.

Where can I get a recording of this?
Congratulazione! Suona con Quintconverter?
Does he not have a bass plate or is it clear? I'd end up hurting myself if I tried playing without one
Which free bass system does this accordion have? C-system, B-System, Quint-System?
Quint-system
Eso creo
