My next planned trip away is next weekend. The weather forecast is for heavy rain, but I’m going to commit to going away. Who’s know what I might find. What’s your next trip?
I am located in central New Mexico and just do day trips. It helps keep the pressure off and much of the time don't even end up on the destination I was planning for.
Absolutely agree, Andrew. What ends up happening is, from what I see, if you always wait for the perfect conditions you end up having a portfolio that looks just like other photographer's.
Spot on with this discussion Andrew and can relate to what you said as I went through that phase of using non perfect conditions as a reason not to go out. Now I look to adapt my plan if my initial idea is a non starter. Had this experience recently and came away with what is probably my favourite image of the year so far and posted it in a group online and the response was phenomenal.
Another ripper video Andrew. I really enjoy listening to your mindset regarding composition and light etc. Great advice just to get out there into the great outdoors anyway I reckon ...!!!!
Hi Andrew, thanks for sharing this well thought and constructed video. Sometimes it seems its the obvious things one need to filter out, form, sharpen and finally speak about it. I find you have that gift and knowing about your teaching background its clear where that comes from :-) Thanks again and good luck with the weather on your upcoming trip. Cheers, J.
Great job buddy !! This video is packed to the brim with excellent advice !! A turning point for me was realizing that bad conditions do not exist ! There’s always a shot
I think it all has to be about the adventure, small or big, about just leaving the home and get out in nature and when I am there it’s always somthing that catching my eye. But it can be in many different style of photography. The photo may not be good when I look at it when I come home but the thrill and etusiasm I fellt was one of the goals. A professional photographer may have a more pressure to get good photos. But I hope I can remain in my state of mind of childish expectation every time I leave home :) Thanks for a good video as always!!
I did a guided project at the end of 2020 with the theme of 'Inclement'. It forced me to go out in some awful conditions and seek out images. it worked, I was able to present 10 images a month later and I am sure I would not have made any of those images if I had not had the project to do. I am more inclined to go out and see what happens now. Thanks for sharing Andrew.
Perfect for the way I took a little walk today with the camera. It was filling in time while I waited for one of the kids with an activity. The light was dull, not very interesting. I was in suburbia with a little walk by a bay area. I went with the idea of just seeing what was there. There was a bit there. Then the camera battery died, and all I had was the phone, and bang the light hit some boats with some don’t miss this gloriousness. . . . . Phone it was - just getting a couple of images that were there .. . . Just seeing, wondering and wandering.
You can do that even in lockdown. Shoot locally. You might get surprised by the results. I've been doing that for almost a year and I got some of my best images I've taken in years.
@@rodmehta5356 I have YT premium too. One would think that the intensity of Squarespace’s ad saturation would turn people away from their product as it has done so with me. It is hard to name a YT photo content provider who hasn’t succumbed to Squarespace. Tired of punching fast forward.

My trip this week is back into the workshop, unfortunately. Might find another kind of environmental photography 😉

At this stage who knows... I'm in Melbourne. My Nov QLD trip won't be going ahead.
Your picture are amazing

Thank you Andrew🙋🏻♂️
Great common sense inspirational/motivational talk, as I’ve put off going out these past few days, though out tonight. Thanks😊
Great advice Andrew....I will take that advice on board and watch my improvement as a landscape photographer
This excellent, informative video is exactly what I needed because I have been struggling with this very thing. Thanks!

Great little vlog Andrew and I recognise what you’re saying in my history.
Thank you for this!
Great advice! Thanks

Another great video Andrew - making the best of any conditions certainly does let you uncover some hidden gems 💎 😎
Really great video Andrew. Very much enjoyed this.

Guilty as charged. Great video, Andrew, and spot on advice. I’m gonna shoot like I’m 15 again - just with an extra 35 years’ experience. 👍🦘🇦🇺
Light snob here.... but I'm working on getting over it : ) Great tips Andrew, particularly about fog and woodland photography.
Great advice…thanks
Cheers Allen! 👍

Once we get out of lockdown, am longing to just go anywhere & do photography

lol...so many of the statements you made in this vid are things i do or think.
So sick of squarespace ads everywhere
Agree. I got YT premium to get rid of ads, just to get square spaced everywhere. I'd rather buy a beanie to support the creator 😄
