Interesting Doc, I may take a chance on that when it becomes available, if it isn't already sold out. A couple of years ago, I switched from chemical fertilizers to organic fertilization and was amazed at how much better my lawn looks. If the Biochar will add to that, it's a plus for me.

Hey man. New subscriber here. Nice channel.
Question: Last summer I had a terrible "goose grass," or nut sedge problem in my bermuda lawn; mainly because my little old lady next door neighbor waters every single day to excess and my lawn is down hill a bit. What can I do to avoid this infestation this summer?
I've thought about digging a little drainage ditch between our lawns. 2-4-D doesn't seem to affect it very much.

Very informative video Doc! I'm new to lawn care. I live in southern Ontario, Canada. Sadly it's pretty much impossible for me to be able to get Humichar.. I am planning to get granular humic acid and biochar to use on my lawn during Summer.. My lawn is damaged/brown from the heat and myself walking around to water flowers. The grass is flattened. I mow grass a bit. I feel if I apply biochar now, they would be sitting right on top of the grass. Should I use a food mixer to make biochar into small pieces? Should I rake grass first? I read online that raking in summer is a no no. Or can I just apply Biochar (also Humic Acid granular) without doing anything to neither biochar and lawn ? From your video, even the regular biochar in small particles sit on the water. I am not sure what to do :-S Any suggestion would be appreciated..!! Thank you,

Hey Doc love the videos and the blog posts. I was wondering, if humichar holds onto everything and it’s there permanently(pretty much), could bad things (bacteria, fungus, etc) also get held onto and be harder to get rid of? Thanks in advance and thanks for all you do!

I am sorry this is late after the video release, BUT, just moved to NC and wish I would have take before/ after photo. Just bought this home and front and sides were taken care of by big yard company. They did ok, but for the amount of crabgrass and other weeds, my thought was they could have done better. With that said, tall fescue for now, but by just using Humichar, late in year, great dog in the house, I kept it simple. MAN what a difference in just a few weeks. Used the insect control too, grubs all over. I am sold on product and sent product information back to Maryland, too good to be true.

Doc I read that Humic Acid can last over 1,000 years in your soil. I would like to read more about how it only lasts six months. Where can I find that information? Thanks for all of your videos! I am learning so much and I really appreciate it.

    • @HowTowithDoc

Humic Acid is not biochar. Humic acid is effective for about 6-12 months. Biochar never goes away.

I have Humic DG left over from last year and a very, very small yard. Can I put this down now? (I live in the middle of Georgia). How often can I put down? I have clay soil and new burmuda sod from last August. I have PGF and super juice which I used last year which was great! When do I put the 10-10-10 down? Hi there Doc. Love your videos! I have a question about Humichar. You said it holds on to stuff in the soil and you can put it on with any other product. We have spring fungus lawn problems herein the spring. So if I Humichar is applied and then a fungicide is applies sometime after that, will the biochar hold on to the fungicide? Im afraid the fungicide would kill all the beneficial bacteria that is in the Biochar.

    • @HowTowithDoc

Give the humichar a week... or wait until after a rain. Once it's been WET... it really has no "liquid draw" to it.

Last year I talked to an Anderson's representative about which product to use on my yard black gypsum or humic since I have three dogs. I live in northern Georgia and the soil is red clay. He informed me that I should use black gypsum, 10 pounds per 1,000 square feet per month because of the dogs. It would provide some humic and restores calcium into the soil. Should I continue with the black gypsum and add the biochar or just use biochar?

If a bio-char/humi-char piece the size of a tums tablet, has the surface area of a tennis court (your term), and it lasts for hundreds of years in the soil, why do you need to apply it every month? Seems like 1-2 apps should do it.
