I collected baseball cards in the late 1950's through the early 1960's from the back of cereal boxes. I used a thick rubber band to keep the stack together, wish I still had 'em.
While digging a storage spot under an old roadside garage I found a Piedmont cigarette pack in a can ..it was empty 😢it had the name Dwitt Clinton on it. I also found a pile of old squat soda bottles and crocks...I eventually sold everything at a Pennsylvania flea market 😊

You're absolutely correct sir. The cigarettes' box alone is more rare than the cards for sure, unless it is the Plank, Wagner or Magie card. Just like say a 1952 Topps wrapper or most old wrappers itself as they were thrown away. P.S. P.S. there is a way to know if there is a card inside, it can be Xrayed
Me too, imagine three boys riding bikes and clipping baseball and football cards on the wheels. I’m also sick, because I had a stack of comic books that were old in the 60’s when we got them from elementary school. I think I gave them and my matchbox cars to my nephew,years ago

Just have the "Antique Store" "Antique Store Picking" in the uploads will INCREASE it all ACROSS the board on your channel over time. I do 1 or 2 Antique Store Picking uploads a month. They are ALWAYS my top uploads.
Ya Wagners are almost exclusively SC. Prob far more likely to get a fish or bird card than a ball player but who knows!!!! We probably will never know unless a lot winner is foolish enough to open the pack 🤷♂️

Believe it or not I know of 2 unopened packs in MD. Man who owns,friend of my father's, a wealthy man,also owns a lower grade t206 a card in the 2000k area. His sons were told they can open them when he passes.
If any groups (or box) has been CT scanned for inner contents, this is 100% among them. No way these packs have a card in them as too much $ reward is at stake. Thus, the auction house lot disclaimer (need to protect themselves as these likely do not contain cards).

A good standard medical X-ray digital system may reveal the simple presence of cards pretty easily manipulating box position. Detail and processing has greatly improved in the last 20 years. Some products with CT concerns cross over into the base modality. In many it appears standard X-ray may be faster and easier.
To me the holy grail would be a high number 52 Topps full box. Remember they dumped them in the Hudson many years ago. If an unopened full box surfaced, I would bet at least $25 million .

It would be naive to not consider the MRI tech with this. I think it would be safe to assume the owner & rea have not mri-ed these packs, however when considering the investment what's the resale? If one wins this auction holds on to them & sells swearing they did not get them mri-ed it's a tougher story. Perhaps the value is in opening them. That or course changes the financials. What's the chance they actually have cards, what cards could they have & what the grade of said card on average from a pack of piedmont?
You know that there could be a card of a bird or train or flower. Not all the tobacco packs had baseball cards. So many could not even be a baseball card.

Those things have already been scanned unbeknownst to the owner. A few key people know which lot numbers are the ones to buy (if any).

Good questions. My understanding is that not every pack has a card, and some may not be sports cards too. I’ll find out for sure.
