Nice demo......I have an Ego and very happy with it. Was thinking about the Wong one and wasn't impressed with the bells and whistles. The DI, always on switch and boot didn't interest me but the idea is great for some one who's going t use them. The Ego 76 sounded interesting.....but it has a latch footswitch and not the soft one. A major turn off for me. All of my other Wampler pedals have the soft switch. Even my Walrus Ages does. I wound up returning it because of that. I liked it but..........They told me it was a supply chain issue which is why they weren't putting them on the 76........Really? So it looks like I'm sticking with the Ego.
Excellent video and great performance! I agree with you about the Ego being warmer and with a touch more of bass frequencies. I have both and I decided to use the Cory Wong in my pedalboard because is more balance and fits better in the mix in a rock band context, plus the boost sounds really good and also I have a Gretsch Jet Duo TVP with Powertronic humbucker pickups so I don’t need more bass. Anyway I love both pedals so much! Which one you prefer?
Thanks, I see uses for both. But the ego feels better and spongier for fingerpicking and things. But after listening back the Wong sounds better in the mids
I have a Jackson Audio Bloom, Xotic SP and most recently a UAFX 1176 . I'm chasing the 70s funk sound. So far the Xotic SP(the most affordable )has gotten me closer than the others but the noise at certain gigs makes it unusable i guess its all the wireless gear, cell phones, and lights that cause it. I'm about ready to try a Wampler comp Any thoughts?
Tested them side by side. Wong was definitely more articulate, Ego softer, less articulate. Checked it out time after time. A fact, not an impression. Diamond Comp/Eq too is articulate but not so tweakable.
Great comparison demo, thank you! Which pedal is quieter? The reason I ask is due to my TC Hypergravity is noisy when the configuration is set up for auto gain enabled. I am potentially looking for a new compressor pedal but I want one that is quiet. Thank you in advance! God Bless!
Both very quiet, I think I do a noise test in this video, I usually do. I think ego might be slightly quieter and warmer. Check my big compressor shootout video to hear these with xotic, analogman etc
Great playing and great demo.
Thanks mate, keep on practicing and breaking new ground, and sharing your skills with the world.
thanks for subscribing if you are now
