I love using pocket notebooks to write the lines that make me laugh when i read a book. I usually put the book title, page the quote is found on and then the quote.
I LOVED the big journal. It was so nice I wanted to be able to look at it for a long time, so I decided to turn it into a 5 year journal. That way, I get to look at it every day for the next 5 years!! My partner and I are using the little notebooks to write things we love about one another/memories together and keep them in the little box on the shelf. It's been very sweet.
I've enjoyed using the collage papers in my reading journal for decoration! I tend to tear them diagonally and pop them in a corner. Won't work with all of them, of course, but it's been fun so far!!
I loved this video so much compared to simply the normal unboxing!! Getting ideas for using all the subscription boxes can be difficult. Thanks Mark! That letter opener stays on the desk of where we keep the mail so it’s already used often. I rarely use collage paper so am going to use it mostly for some leisurely origami, but like the examples you gave to use it too.
I really do like A&O notebooks, but like you, I am not really into all the floral designs. I have lots of co-workers who are very happy when I get the books with floral designs, because I usually end up bringing them to work for someone to use. I could also do without the washi tapes in the boxes. I have so much washi tape and I can’t give it away anymore.
I am using them in a couple of different ways. As a general daily journal with the photo of the day and some info about it. Also as a dog show journal. Points progression, judge and placement, picture of the day etc.
im using the blue notebook for gaming, the red for health/exercise planning, and the big one for my language practice. the academia just fits well with it
I deeply appreciate your ability and eagerness to appreciate and expound on the design aspects of any given product, even (and especially) if a specific aesthetic isn't *for you*. The two aspects are definitely not mutually exclusive, and I feel much the same about a lot of A&O products; it's a big part of why you instantly became-and-remain one of my very few go-tos when I discovered your content! (I also dwell in the less-floral-y, less-pastel, yet still obsessed-with-stationary-stuffs-and-product-design Camp!) Thank you! Please keep-at!
I’m going to use the decadent notebook as my reading journal for 2025. The small grey one is going to be a sketch book. Light grey is a great mid tone for sketching with either pencil or conté crayon. 🥰
loving the format of this video! it doesn't just apply to the a&o sub boxes, but can be useful for anyone looking for ways to use these items from different brands.
I love the Decadent Notebook, and I'm going to use it as a reading journal. I'm also going to use the pocket journals as timeline notebooks so as I'm reading fiction and non fiction, I always have some quick contextual info about what was happening when the book was written and/or the time period in which it was set. The only thing I'm disappointed in is that there are no page numbers or mid page markers in any of the A&O journals the way they are featured in yours. 😭 Yours was the first A & O journal I invested in (for a work project journal) and those features really save a ton of time. ❤📏📚
This was such a fun and practical way to do an unboxing. I love the combination of reviewing the items and talking about how you'd potentially use them. Hoping to see more like this!
I am using the burgundy notebook as a platform for the letter opener. I love that letter opener and it looks so nice on it. For the college paper, I am going to use the sheets with cursive writing on them to cover up personal stuff when I post my layouts online. I am starting a reading journal and while I want to share parts, my actual notes are going to be written for my use and not an audience. I might use the teal notebook as a travel notebook, and if I do I need to decide fast because I am currently packing!
My father kept a small notebook where he would write words he came across in his reading that he wanted to know the dictionary definition, even if he knew what it meant from context. Periodically, when he had time, he would take out a dictionary and look up the definition. I don’t think he wrote those down but he kept the books.
Always here with the quality content Mark! Thanks for the ideas, I struggle with using the pocket notebooks and the collage paper. A game journal is such a good idea for the tiny notebooks! I’m currently trying to use an A5 and it feels a bit too big for what I want to mark down when I’m gaming so I love that idea! I will probably use the A5 flower journal as a diary of some kind but I’m not sure just yet. Loved the video!
Love the colors in this box. I’m from New Orleans and still live about little more than an hour away, Mardi Gras colors are purple gold and green… this box will have a dual purpose…. I love the A5 journal! Exquisite
The small thick notebooks just strike me as something to use as a reference book…my first thought was for recipes (I love to cook and bake) and one could be for “savory” and the other for “sweet/baked” and the tabs could be used to divide between major types of recipes. It could also be an “overall index” as to where information is location. It could be a password, website book. My other thought as a reference was that I like to write in different fonts, and I will either type them up to copy from and glue in and then use as a reference for different type faces that I like to write with. The beautiful floral notebook looks like an heirloom type of thing…like writing down life events and experiences that you would pass down to your child…family history stories, and leaving half blank for your child(ren)/grandchildren to continue on with. Maybe photos of great great grandparents, their names, where they lived, any info you know…sort of a genealogy/family history book to pass down and for future generations to have when you’re gone. Great ideas (and I wish that A&O would have more kraft paper notebooks, or notepads!!!! I love the look of kraft paper as a journal…it just shouts out for beautiful penmanship with an antique looking fountain pen ink and some vintage stickers in a long form journal. Or used as a travel journal…put all the different trips you take in them with photos and some ephemera picked up along the way…that would be great in a B5 or Square to use over the years. Thanks for the video, Mark!! Great ideas!!
@@markyourpages You’re very welcome!!! I’m working on setting up a recipe book (to make some order out of the 100 print outs I have from the internet) and that kraft notebook just looked perfect! Also, I’ve been doing family research recently, and that came to mind for the other book. I saw a video where someone bought a 5 year journal since they had a child to write down some things each day over the years for their child to have and continue to have, as she had found a journal of her mother’s whom she recently lost, and it was something she treasures…so she wants to pass that along to her own child in the future and I thought that was a beautiful idea, as I’ve had the same experience 😀
Great suggestions! I'm currently using my gray paper pocket journal for a swatch journal for my paints - both acrylic and gouache. As an artist, I often use a gray base as an alternative to white for color mixing. Gray is a good neutral for lighting and color correction (even in photography - especially for portraiture). The size of the notebook makes it exceptionally portable so carrying it to classes or the studio doesn't add a lot of extra weight to my bag. I'd love to see a larger notebook with gray paper. It'd be great to have a large letter-size notebook as a reference journal for my home studio.☺ As always, thanks for sharing!

Ok this tie is the sweetest use of these items !!

That’s how you win the office over. I do the same. Its like a Black Friday grab all 😆

Oh that’s so cool! Fingers crossed for all the doggie points 🐶

Love the breakdown of uses. Great ideas

I love just looking at stationery - especially A and O. 🖤 Your pages are so beautiful and neat. 🖤
I totally agree!

The letter opener works very well. I tried it out.

🙌🙌🙌 we need to talk them into more page numbers
@@markyourpages 100% agree!!!

Oh! And I'll be using the metal bookmarks as divider tabs!
Thank you so much! That’s my plan.

So happy you like the video. I tried an A5 for gaming too and felt the same way.
I am happy to take the big notebook from you 😜
Hahaha you don’t need more notebooks. Signed, pot to kettle. 🖤

I have this sub box and just purchased your A&O A5 journal. Great ideas!
Hope you enjoy it!
Excellent video, Mark. Thanks. Really enjoyed the last Planner Pals video as well. You and Jess are a great team.
Thanks so much. I really appreciate the support

That sounds awesome
Great ideas, Mark. This was my first box. It is very luxurious!!!
Glad you liked it.
This was a great video. Nice to have ways to use these items
Thanks for watching
I bet crabs DO think fish can fly….🤯
😆 I loved that one
10:47 I would cut of the elastic band right away. 😜
Having it on top of the front cover would drive me nuts.
✂️
This was a gorgeous kit! I would love to be able to purchase the chunky books, but with white pages. (Not a subscriber. Just enjoy the reveals.)
Keep your eyes peeled for when : if they sell the box outside of the subscription. Sometimes they do that
I hate hearing 'vegan leather'. IT DOES NOT EXIST.
Sure… but it sounds a lot better than saying “this A5 polyurethane journal…”
