My favourite sound system. Birmingham carnival in the 90s, really rainy day and we walked into a big marquee, stayed in for hours and were so glad it was Saxon playing, kept us rocking.

Saxon vs V.Rocket clashes were the best dances ever! I attended a few in various cities. Saxon took some, V.Rocket took some too. Regardless of who would take the win, it was always a good clash. The midlands baddest vs London’s baddest! We don’t see clashes like that anymore, miss them days.

Saxon v Ghetto Tone, Ledgendery. Check it on UA-cam if you haven't heard it yet. I wasn't there but I had the tape a week later. Ironically I lived in the barrier block right nextdoor to Dennis Rowe (I didn't get the bootleg tape from him 😂) when he lived in Brixton in 83 and down stairs from our balcony lived Coxson and he would buss tune every Sunday afternoon. To be honest the time was so rich in culture you took things like that for granted because they weren't the only ones on the Somer Leyton Estate which sat beside the front line, let alone Brixton. Somer Leyton is a large estate and a no go zone for the police in the early 80's after the riot, orders from the very top, so it was a safe haven with its own shop in the middle and easy access to the line through a passage. That cassette tape was the most duplicated cassette tape in the 1980's.

The barier block was where to go if you wanted a place to live all you had to do was find an empty flat kick off the door and move in after a while you were the legal tennant. I know nuff people who still live there all buy their flat from dem time deh. Now those flats are worth crazy money. At least that was one thing a man get from the riots.

Only sound to win the UK Cup Clash & World Cup same time. History pon record, set trends that nuff other sounds followed. Fast style originators and leaders. Big up King Saxon Studio Sound bad sound.
