i found blood orange on my 15th birthday now nearly two years later i’m still insanely addicted. for anyone who likes blood orange i would suggest you listen to the band black kids too ! ❤
Test Icicles was the start for me. That band ripped. Lightspeed was a welcome change sonically. His evolution and dexterity in music is pretty amazing.
Dev has said in his BBC radio series 'Composed' that the template/blueprint for Blood Orange is a song called 'Madam Butterfly' by Malcolm McLaren. Everyone should go listen to it, it is an amazing mix of genres with the iconic drum machine to back it all up. You can see where Dev got his inspiration :)
This was such a good overview! Love the Stars reference - never would have made the connection, but I can totally hear it now. Also shout out to Nils for the persistence! You two did really well researching Dev's work.
(Espero puedas traducirlo)
Enjoyed this, but I was listening in the car and the levels for your voice were so much quieter than the music. Keep up the otherwise great content though :)

Cupid deluxe is one of my all time favourite albums. it makes me feel like I’m floating every time I listen to it.

Incredible! Thank you for pointing to that song :)
He's also expressed his love for Weezer. Their album, Pinkerton, takes its name and inspiration from Madam Butterfly.
