Im running a burn/poison setup. Pretty good in nightmare, havent tested it in apoc yet though. But seems pretty solid especially with leeching.

@@PogoZilla I'm not on right now to look at it, but I was using ritualist (prime) and invoker (second),detonation trigger amulet, fetid rounds, atonement and ravagers ring/braided thorn (BT is 10%, whereas Ravagers is 5% for crit and all damage. I was using ravagers). Last ring is personal choice. If you need the mod gen, malevolence. If you want armor DR, hardcode metal.

@@PogoZilla I also forgot this, the sapphire ring can work too as the last ring if you want a 4% skill cool down on a crit hit every 2 seconds.

i really like the weapon but no matter what build i try the damage just feels underwhelming
Doing something similar for quick farm runs. I have the Ritualist as primary and max AOE. When anything dies everything in a huge area also dies. Using the Red Ring of Death and Band of Fanatic to concentrate the DOT and be able to reapply when on higher difficulty. Even on APOC was working not too bad which I was surprised Not so well on bosses so I switch out build just for boss and was using the lightning/heal from Nacho
I would think for bosses, use the detonation amulet or ENC with either searing, fetid, or twisted rounds on thorn. I did some brief testing with thorn and detonation trigger with fetid rounds. The damage seemed to be slightly better than ENC with just fetid (the 5 needle explosion does 150 base but with detonation it increases the explosion damage AND adds burning). Granted, I am using atonement, ravagers bargain, sapphire, and hardcore metal for my specific build. So if actually building into just status, it could possibly be a stronger build.

it sucks that you have to google every single thing in this game. it is cool that there are options, but playing blind just means you will miss so much cool stuff. I mean, who thinks NOT picking up the QUEST ITEM is the correct choice? ._. or that it even is one? there is just no indication for it... frustrating.
Then don’t play the game that’s catered to people who like to explore and think outside the box - respectfully this is just how the first game functioned so this isn’t anything new and gives a sense of achievement and accomplishment when you do infact figure something out like this on a “blind play through.”

Just something I been messing with -
Amulet:
Detonation trigger to increase explosion damage and apply burn.
ENC is a good choice too. But for what I need, DT is able to proc more often and from some light testing, does a bit more upfront damage without the need to reapply a status.
Mutator:
Fetid, searing, or twisted rounds. I would say use searing if you only want the added bonus damage to burning targets (but it would be kinda redundant IF you use detonation trigger imo).
Rings:
Use ahanae, band of fanatic, and shadow of misery/malevolence (if you need the mod generation).
Time keeper's if you're going to use ENC.
This isn't my current setup, but something I played around with. Was pretty fun but can lack survivability if traits aren't right.
