Mick (undertaker) wrote all the guitar work for this he's a beast plus Corey's vocals, amazing. And you're absolutely right this should have won
I was waiting for this day, I still have no clue how Gehenna won.
This is Slipknot's most technical masterpiece to date, I believe.
If you're interested in the studio recordings, There's a video of Mick Playing most of it. It's pretty awesome and the raw energy he has when playing it, it's just *chefs kiss*. (not a reaction request btw)
I checked this out. He's much less scary sitting down. :) But one of my favorite comments I saw under that video was something like "I hope that guitar is over 18." LOL

Gehenna won because this album is old and we’ve burned ourselves out on all the other songs and Gehenna has the most staying power because it’s unique.
Lauren from now on react to the least voted ones. You’re welcome. That’s how I started to re-discover them, with a song called ‘Diluted’ 😁 Slipknot is so much more than devil in I or psychosocial.. From this album you have Wherein Lies Continue, Butcher’s Hook, Vendetta, All Hope Is Gone (the song)…. ✌🏻💀
This Cold Black is another underrated song from this album. One of my personal favorites.

In my opinión this whole álbum is a very bad slipknot álbum, great songs bit they are not slipknot songs at all, veré they lost they personality of a creepy and raw band
This is hands down the best Slipknot track ever. If it wasn't so damn complicated to play, they'd do it live.
Off of this album, Gematria and All Hope Is Gone are probably the best songs instrumentally and maybe lyrically even. They are technical and instrumental monsters, absolute behemoths. Gematria, stated by Clown, has never been nor ever will be played live because it is too much. And I love it because of that.
Gematria, All Hope Is Gone and Butchers Hook are the top three songs on the album. You'll probably also love Wherein Lies Continue.
Such underrated track. For some reason, they have never played this live (as far as I know). Loved your reaction.
The first part of the guitar solo its the undertaker and the other is phantom.
I also loved that you heard .execute. first, slipknot has a lot of transition songs that are amazing. When you listen to "Sarcastrophe", listen to "XIX" first.
they physically can't play it bc there's like 6 layers of unique guitar parts and they can't agree on how to strip it down, plus idk if jay can do the drums live
@@petal_cult pretty sure Jay can do it. The guitar part is the real problem, but there must be a way. They have a sampler in the band lol

One of the best on the album! This entire album is so underrated. Many awesome songs such as This Cold Black, Sulfur, Wherein Lies Continue, All Hope is Gone, Butcher's Hook, and others. It's one of the albums that got me into Metal at the age of 13 (a long time ago, haha). 🤘

It's the best song on the album for sure, not that that's saying much considering it's their most commercial and Poppy.
I think more likely because way fewer people have reacted to that track over the literally same songs that get reacted to.

This one was definitely better than the other one. I still have my Slipknot training wheels on, but I’m learning and definitely interested in hearing more.

If you ever listen to "All Hope is Gone", the song, try a lyric video. Something went wrong when uploading the sound on the Slipknot channel so the official video gets messed up towards the end. Loved this reaction!

Execute reminds me of the weird radio voice and static from the classic John carpenters (prince of darkenss). Yup Gematria is burn in the brain as the first on the AHIG album and it was a banger! Then sulfer... psychological and dead memories ...then follow. It was not bad for the fourth album. I'm still an IOWA purist... hehehe
Gematria is their heaviest song and best song. Too heavy to be popular i guess so not many people know about it.
I kind of like that it's a hidden gem. :)

Also, you know 7 songs off this album... execute, gematria, sulfer, dead memories, psychosocial, gehenna, snuff... love this song though, my favorite from this album.

The child of burning time(the other song of the poll), was other gem from AHIG in my opinion. Actually the people chose the "worst" song, or maybe was the one they listen among the three songs

Child of burning time is a nice song. A different style. Gematria ( the killing name ) is better though.

This track is actually ridiculous, and totally sets the bar for the entire album, and separates itself from Vol 3 imo, it kinda feels like Iowa to me.
Unfortunately the vocals and guitars are softer than on 'Iowa', but the drums could definitely be on it.

I think Gehenna won because of its unique dark slow vibe. This is more classic Slipknot. Also awesome, but more what you could expect from Slipknot.

I think it comes down to taste. If you ask the average Maggot what the most underrated Slipknot song is, 99% of them will say Gematria.
Personally it's not one of my favourites, and I disagree I think the amount of times it comes up in conversation proves it's not as underrated as people tend to think. But it is a killer album opener and perfectly sets the mood for the record. It's heavy, it's progressive, it's introducing a more political angle this time compared to their previous work. And I'll yield to the other Maggots I do really wish they would play this live at least once, maybe for an anniversary or something
I can't wait until you eventually do Child of Burning Time. I'm one of those weird people, especially when it comes to Slipknot and Stone Sour, where I tend to think the bonus tracks are some of the best songs on the record. And Child is no exception, the atmosphere and imagery in that song are incredible and its EASILY one of the best songs on an already amazing record for me

To answer your question of why this didn't win...I have no fucking idea. Gehenna is a good song but this is top tier slipknot as far as i'm concerned!
