• Tina Arena - Farewell ...
Tina’s last performance as a team member on Young Talent Time singing The Way We Were & Macarthur Park - October 1983
Hi suzi and travis. I am so excited to share this video of where tina arena's career started on the australian tv show young talent time. In this video she is only 15 years of age and it's her last show. You can see that at that young age how talented she is and that she will one day be a star and she's still performing over 4 decades later and still sounds great. Please enjoy guys. Lots of love tanya....

Thank you so much I watched Tina and the show when I was a kid. I loved all of it and especially Tina.
Wow such a talent.....Again she had to fight tooth and nail to get the recognition here in Australia from the music industry finally moved to France and they embraced her and she even had a medal from the French Government to recognise her musical contribution to her adopted country.
Yeah, unfortunately they couldn't get past her being a little girl competing in an adult world 😢. She so deserved more than that.
I use to watch YTT every week and McArhur Park was my favourite performance of Tina’s. So much talent at such a young age ❤
I love Tina and great person to.
These kids attended school all day, rehearsed after school and taped the show live each Saturday.
Are you kidding me that much talent at that age and how the hell did she compose herself to do the 2nd song, unbelievable.
Johhny Young , the compere of YTT , wrote the Russel Morris Hit " The Real Thing " .
Was a shame that YTT didn't air in the States.💔 I would have definitely been watching.
You had the Mickey Mouse club.
@@iankearns774Eh... Rather watched YTT! 😁
Used to sit with my parents and watch YTT with my parents every week. I think she started on YTT when she was 7.
The host Johnny Young had a successful rock career and wrote the "The Real Thing" a must to listen to and react to. Russell Morris version.
oh man that brought a tear to my eye, i remember this, we all loved Young Talent Time.
YTT is like our version of the Mickey Mouse Club. So many careers started there. Kylie Minogue's sister Danni presented her the flowers
Love Tina singing Sorrento Moon❤
What a voice. I forgot how good she was when young. Wasn’t she called Tiny Tina? It just popped into my head.
Still have her CDs when her career took off. Might play one today😊
Thanks again Tanya. Great choice.
Gotta love the 80’s perm 💯♥️🇦🇺
Yes! I had one of those! lol!
Kylie Minogue’s sister Dannii was also a singer on this show and Kylie came on the show a few times. Once her and Danni sang “sisters are doing it for themselves”.
I think it was whilst Kylie was an actress on neighbours a famous TV show
Omg just saw there is a clip on you tube of Danni and Kylie Minogue singing it..I remember being at a party when it came on and all the girls singing it!
If you look at about 6:00 you can see Danii on the far left
She is still One of the best!
Some absolutely fantastic talent came out of that show. I remember seeing this, I’d forgotten how awesome Tina was at 15.
YTT was appointment viewing when I was a kid. I loved that show so much.
I had such a crush on Juanita Coco. I was sad to hear she died in a car crash at only 17.
There is a great clip of Tina singing live McArthur Park with Donna Summer
🥹 I'm crying again. Cried when she left YTT. This song and the show brought so much joy, love and entertainment for me as a teenager growing up. What a beautiful voice Tina has. 🙏🏾✨♥️
I went to a Young Talent Time concert. It was outdoors, and we sat on a grassed area with my parents… I don’t even know how old I was, but probably about 6 or so. Tina always had confidence in spades, and she deserved to, because that girl can sing, and still can ❤
The host, Johnny Young was always a kind and gentle song. He wrote The Real Thing, sung by Russell Morris which was released in 1969. Brilliant tune. I also like the cover by other Aussie female girls, Kate Ceberano, Mahalia Barnes and Nikka Costa. You know of Jimmy’s daughter, Mahalia. The other girls are powerhouses too 🎉🎉🎉
Im 70 yrs of age and remember this performance like yesterday. I remember Tina's very first appearance on YTT. SO BEAUTIFUL ❤️❤️
One of my favourite YTT memories, it still makes me tear up every time...
Tina has always had a phenomenal voice!!!
So glad you reacted to this & glad you loved it!!
Love you guys xx
Tina Arena had success after YTT and even moved to France where she had hit songs in French and became the darling of the French music industry. Born in Australia with Italian roots she conquered Europe in another language. She sang with Donna Summer in a notable performance, taking the part that was originally sung by Barbara Streisand.
Kylie Minogue's younger sister (Danni) started on YTT and Kylie even made a guest appearance on a family members show and kylie had just started on an Australian sitcom Neighbours. Danni is well known as a singer in her own right.
I remember sitting on the floor in front of our tv watching this and crying so hard. I think i was about 13 and had watched every episode i could.
You should here her singing in French or Italian ❤ Like Vanessa Amorosi she sang at the opening ceremony of the sydney 2000 Olympics . ( along with Olivia and Farnsey)
What a gem
Her opening to McArthur Park still gives me chills
Oh wow, I remember watching this as a kid, I replayed the recording my parents made on the VHS for months.
Next, don’t miss Tina Arena and Anthony Callea sing ‘The Prayer’ live with the Melbourne symphony orchestra. Incredibleeeeeeeeee
My friends and I used to pretend we were on YTT, the garden wall was our stage, we'd stand up there and dance and sing into hairbrushes 😂😂😂
I'd like to see you react to Tina in a very different setting. She was singing "Don't cry for me Argentina" with a choir of 2,000. It was live in Amneville, and she shows a different style. Excellent.
My little sister is the same age as Tina or thereabouts born in 1967, she watched YTT religiously every week and back in those days in a one TV household I had to sit through it as well.
I might have fake protested a bit but TBH I watched it to see her or another girl Sally Boyden as I had a thing for them albeit I was a couple years older. She did very well with her career for sure.
People have compared her to Celine Dion but she was belting out songs since an early age and this performance shows her ability and brilliant vocals. She could tell a story thru singing from a very early age. Unfortuantely being in that show hindered her to be taken seriously as it did a lot of the great singers who grew up singing on this TV show.
MacArthur park was about drugs, a nickname
Young Talent Time was a Melbourne -based TV program aired every Saturday evening. The children were nurtured in their singing careers by Johnny Young, a well-known performer himself. Many of the children went on to careers in music and acting.
Tina showed talent from day 1 and she certainly did more than fulfil her destiny.
I've loved Tina since starting on YTT. 💕
Over the entirety of the Young Talent Time show, Tina has been the favourite of all Australians. The Young Talent Time started in 1971, with the final show in 1988; it was originally only intended to be for 13 week, but amassed over 800 episodes. Other YTT participants to reach some notoriety were Dannii Minogue(Kylie's younger sister) and Jamie Refern; there were around 40 young hopefuls that joined the show.
Hated this show. I was a teenager at the time and thought it was the dorkiest show on tv. Grew up and learned to appreciate just how talented these kids were. Absolutely love Tina now.
Wow! That brings back some memories :)
She can sing in multiple languages
Also speaks around 7 languages
So you will find her singing in other languages
Their not dubbed over its her singing in that language
Tina was one of the favourites of the show
It produced many international performers
Even one travelled with Liberace was massive international singer piano player
They had very strict rules on the show besides learning their songs for the week
All had to do school work and if grades dropped due to training as performer
They'd drop them from show as part of the deal was education came first if they dropped
So did your position it's not like they just dropped them gave them every chance to improve
Even giving less time on air to get grades back then more performances
The show supplied Tudors for all the kids as they spent large part learning performance for Saturday night every week
It was big asked for young kids some didn't make it and dropped out or if in any trouble show dropped them
15 was maximum age as it made way for younger performers to learn
They had so much of a wait to do it they got to pick the best hence why at 7 she was picked
They didn't exspect them to be brilliant and some kids where better but they where looking for kids with potential to learn
As well as temperament not just talent alot with better talent didn't make it because issue's in these area's
Cheers guys 🦘🇦🇺👍
Yes, the fashion was quintessential 80's big hair sprayed hair, sholderpaded tops and loud multicoloured tops.
I loved my YTT, but I used to hate when they all turned 16 and had to leave the show, and that last leaving show was always so sad 😭💔. I'm in chains would be a great song to react too 👌🤗
Love this so much Tina has always been a class act , no pre recorded stuff for Tina 👌⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I excitedvthis popped up have watched m any times even watched it live all those decades ago
Born a star
She started writing songs after this. In just a few years and with a little help from her friends, she had a hit with a song she co-wrote. She went to Monaco to represent Australia at the world song contest. After she had sung her song, Princess Stephanie of Monaco, who was hosting the program, came to the microphone and said,"Ladies and gentlemen, we have just witnessed the birth of a diva." The rest is history. Not only was Princess Stephanie correct, but even she had no idea as to what extent.❤🎉😊
Guys have a listen to Tina singing Chains and Burn. Two of her best.
Incredible! It's such a shame that real life, relationships and adult stress always intrude to affect a natural career progression, wow what an amazing talent - pocket rocket! 🤗
