Midge talks about her cheating husband and her son’s potty training, and Lenny is literally subversive. So yes, comparatively, midge is wholesome.
Midge makes jokes about having sex, being married, being divorced, being a mom... not really THAT crazy. The point the show seems to be making over and over is that women's lives in that era were taboo for no reason.
Lenny Bruce was talking about the Pope having sex with 3 legged ducks... making jokes about 7 year olds getting wasted... really not the same thing.
I think she's talking more about their lives offstage. Both of their acts onstage are vulgar and obscene by 50s standards, but onstage Lenny is at his cleanest and offstagge he's even worse, and Midge is just the opposite.
It's like watching an Auntie tell her hard headed but cute nephew how to cook.

All they do is control the conversation and talk. It's hard with interviewers.. they want to take up the spot light to highlight their opinions and their thoughts. A good interviewer allows their guests to share more while they speak less.
Rachel is probably thinking am I ever going to have a decent interview on this show, seriously so uncomfortable to watch.

I honestly think Lenny Bruce would kinda make it in today’s comedy, because most of the comedians I like nowadays, are just as “obscene” and political as he was, and all of that is thanks to him. So yeah, he would make it. Yey freedom of speech

Nothing against MMM but I wish Gilmore Girls got the same attention as they've had. Same creators, same type of dialogue and comedy, GG no love :(
-I think Gilmore Girls has stood the test of time, but the Pallidinos didn't have the name recognition and respect they have obtained over time. GG was a brilliant show but once the Pallidinos left, it had a different feel. With Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, they have complete control of the writing, directing, and producing---and that came because of how well Gilmore Girls did and how beloved it still remains. Amazon was smart to give the Pallidinos a show. It's very niche and yet that's the allure. Gilmore Girls did get attention, but didn't have the Pallidinos fully in charge and didn't have their current budget, either. Both shows are great and I also loved their short lived show Bunheads
Its also a different era right now we have all these big networks and shows and advertising is different now as well as amy and dan werent as recognized back then
GG is one of the most iconic shows ever! It gets so much love and an extended season on Netflix!
