This is the official track breakdown for my song "Defiance", in which I go into detail on the history, initial idea, song structure, and sound design of the entire song.
This is the most innovative song I've ever made, dealing with jazz chord progressions and a 5/4 time signature, along with some interesting sound design techniques I haven't used before. The main reason I made this song to begin with was the frustration of being unable to find a tutorial on this kind of music, so I decided to do it myself. Though I am just dipping my toes into jazz music theory, the main technique I learned is to look at a circle of 5ths table for a bit, draw some lines connecting some chords, and BOOM you have a song. I certainly have a long way to go in my music production journey, but this is a step up in creativity for me for sure.
