The Wall is a great example of a two-record set that needed to be that long. Each song adds to the story and it flows beautifully, as you noted. I had sort of the same experience with The Doors as you had with The Wall - I didn't like them for the longest time because they were too mainstream. But after I really listened I really liked it.

ECM is the Touch and Go of light jazz.

True true. There are a few screamers in the early phase: Mal Waldron, Art Ensemble of Chicago and Meridth Monk specifically.

"I try not to litter, but..." I will use that qupte as a review of all Keith Jarrett records. Gary and Paul are also dreadfull. I've kinda changed my mind on Jan Garbarek, on occasion. I'm also trying to change my mind on Janet Jackson, John Adams and Daniel Johnston. It's not an easy path. Completely changed my mind on Jandek some years ago

I think Paul is a good drummer. Jan has a ton of stuff, I can't imagine anyone loving or hating ALL of it. JANDEK got better musically about 10 cds in. Johnston is mostly about his personal story vs the music in my opinion. I suspect R. Stevie Moore might be more your thing as far as lofi solo artist with personal struggles, but it's a real crapshoot with his 200 plus discography.

I have only seen The Wall movie. Didn't like it, but I have the 7" from the Wall. I don't think, that The Wall would be in top of the list for finding "new" music to listen. I already tried with Animals album...

The Wall is very English with its rebellion against society expectations. I think the movie is supposed to make you feel uncomfortable. Uk Punk rock and crust is also sort of in opposition to dignified British societal culture. Most of the VC underground types prefer the Syd Barrett era short poppy trippy songs

@@Shawn_at_Sound_Advice Yeah. Not sure how well it is aged consider lyrics, but when it was released it commented the situation well. Many hardcore songs are still very valid because the war... Now listening songs about draculas, mummies and zombies.
