    I fully agree, the noise issue is highly exaggerated. Was also pleasantly surprised.

    An easier way to adjust the exhaust fan speed rather than manually would be to adjust the gcode presets in Bambu/Orca Slicer. There are two areas you would want to modify. First is the printer start gcode which you can access by pressing the edit preset button for the printer itself in the slicer and then editing the gcode for the Filament itself by modifying the filament preset settings. The exhaust fan gcode is M106 P3, so just use a text editor to find where that's set to 255 and lower it to around 180 (70%) and then save as a custom preset.

      lol, yeah I can see how it could be read that way. Some day I'm sure we'll get one since Bambu has essentially unlimited capital to develop new products now with the success of the X1 and P1P.

    I realize the main reason that Bambu labs makes you upload your models to their “cloud” is to train the ML algorithms to make better prints. Aren’t people worried about other nefarious uses of their data ?

    • @nilla3d
      @nilla3d  Рік тому +4

      I exclusively print from an SD card. Partially because of worries about the cloud, but mostly because its how I've done it for years and feel most comfortable doing it that way.

    I would look into the Hydra mod for your AMS, it seems to be very straightforward and might depending on the size of your spools fix the issues you are having.

    • @robbrown6667

      Since Bambo Labs sells the Hydra as an accessory, the should incorporate the Hydra into the AMS.

    Nice Video! I wish people would give DBs for the noise on both calibrations and the 3 different print speeds.

    I just got the printer today and. the fans are LOUD.... even turned down to 70% my wife was asking me from across the house what that noise was. I don't think I'll be able to run prints during the day working like I can with my ender printer.

    Rather than use the support material people have been using PETG for supports as PLA wont stick to it and vice versa, you are probably aware of this but I thought I would comment just in case you not

    There is no comparison between RC servos and the gears in the AMS. A RC servo requires WAY more torque than what’s needed to pull filament that has little to no resistance.

    • @nilla3d
      @nilla3d  9 місяців тому +1

      Well, except that there is. Its not a point really worth belaboring, but I think the similarities are pretty obvious. Not all servos are high torque, and there are many that have smaller static loads than the gearbox in this AMS. Plastic gears do have some advantages, but afaik we don't know exactly what material the gears here are made out of to get into too deep of a conversation about it.

    What is the actual depth of this unit? Like how deep of a shelf/table does it need to be on? I've heard this dimension needs to be larger to accommodate some sort of bucket accessory that you can add to catch your waste/purge filament that gets pooped out the back?

    Nice video, thanks. I just got my X1C and I'm new to 3D printing. I tried one of those dragons with the MicroCenter store brand silk filament and they did not turn out very good. Anyone have any thoughts on what I could do to improve the quality? I used the Generic Silk PLA settings.

    I would look into it yourself, but I believe the gearbox units in the AMS have a warranty and expected lifetime of 3 months.
