      That's what training drills like this one is for - over time, they settle these motion patterns from conscious actions to instinctive reactions, and you won't have to actively plan these actions out, just assess and react.

      @@WhatThatIsNotTrue agreed to a point...example, look at the recent Uvalde police officers that did nothing and all were trained...had to wait until the customs agents to go in and cleaned up...in stress situations, no time to think...look at all the marital experts in china that got clobbered by a MMA fighter proving their arts were no good compared to MMA...those guys trained for decades...just saying...

      @@sherrcon I would more say that people will fall back to the level of their training. Training for decades can mean so many things. This is why it’s important to pressure test your art, regardless of what it is. I personally wouldn’t call an art “no good”, but it would fall to how its taught and how its tested within a given school. I agree, a lot of more traditional schools may not pressure test sufficiently but those that take the concepts their art teaches them and test them vs a non compliant partner are more likely to get them to work compared to decades of drills. Drills are important but they need pressure testing

      Did we watch the same video? He specifically showed how given one opportunity you finish. Or continue with the drill to train muscle memory in case of an attack from a different angle.
