- A look back on the sites visited throughout the series, summing what we learned throughout the process. Where is craftsmanship recognized in modern homes, and how can we make sure craftsmanship endures?

I can't believe the series is coming to an end. You have passed bits of knowledge to everyone that has watched this series. This helps viewers understand what they see not only what they build. Thank you.
I'm gonna miss this series! Love the spirit and determination to preserve the old soul in new homes.
@buildshow & BrentHull Thank you for putting together a series like this. As an architect who trained at modernist institutions I never received this information during my training. Even as an intern I was working on mostly modern buildings. Running my own practice now in the Northeast, I work on historic homes all the time, and most of my clients want these historic details in their custom homes as well. I'm grateful for builders, craftsmen, and historians like yourselves who are sharing these lessons for those of us who truly care about the work we do and want to elevate our craft. Keep up the great work!
Wish I had one tenth of this guy’s knowledge. I enjoyed the video
Knowledge and Passion!
Beautiful! Loved the series and how it teaches the fine integration to bring out that soul.
Thank you so much for this series! Loved it!
What an incredible home!
I don't want this series to end but I am so glad I get to re-watch these episodes for the rest of my life. So much work had to be put into the production of these videos. Each episode has set the bar so high for anything to come in the future. Thank you so much !!
Thank you Brent for this series it was awesome and has inspired me to continue to work on old home. I think you need to do around 2 soon and show more of the houses.
Fabulous.
It's been an asolute pleasure
Love this whole series! And love Brent! I want to be Brent when I grow up!
Needs his own yt channel
@@cheeseburger9232 He has one! @BrentHull
Thanks Brent, your knowledge of building style and history is incredibly impressive.
Great series.
As an avid fan of traditional details and a former operator of a Weing 5 head molding machine I still learn something from you on every episode. However I have one correction I think needs to be made. In a Gothic arch the rise is greater or equal to the span. A Tudor arch has a span greater than rise.
Great series! Thanks Brent for sharing your passion!!
I’m NOT READY for the end!!! 😭😭😭😭😭
Also I live in Philadelphia near old city 3:52!!!
Awesome information brent... Keep it up brother...
Magnificient
My husband says you know something about Marvin windows, we have that in town here in Fargo, ND!! Wondering if you'd be willing to come to town?! We will buy you dinner and a place to stay!
Hey! I live in Fargo, ND - what a small world. If you are all interested in historic houses and architecture I'd love to connect.
This series was for millionaires not the everyday home owner.
Multi-Millionaires…a million ain’t what it used to be!😂
Not true. A millionaire could do every detail here, and do it at massive scale, and more importantly hire Brent and his team to design it for their actual house. But for us regular Joe’s the lessons still apply and we can apply the same learnings to our own homes but at a smaller scale:
- use historical precedent when choosing details
- if you’re faking it (faux brick, faux shutters, etc) think about how it would look if you did it for real and make your end product look like that so it’s more convincing.
- think about balance, proportion, aligning details from the same era. Don’t use modern cabinet doors with French country hinges with craftsman door pulls
Yes the house he’s going through is amazing and well outside what any of us will ever live in, but that doesn’t discredit the lessons he’s giving us for free :)
