Thank you for sharing this Andrew. I'm glad the music is back in your life, music is very healing. I use music, sound and Reiki to help people who struggle with mental illness transform and shift their perceptions and stuck emotions and energy. What people really need during extreme times of crisis or stress is more compassion and unconditional love. Let's keep fighting the stigma of mental illness. Only in the western world do we view hearing things and hallucinations as bad signs. In other cultures its a sign of awakening into your abilities in the community and you have a mentor who guides you. We need less medication and more compassion.
I am diagnosed schizoaffective disorder and have a similar story... and used to take Zyprexa... but in 2003 of September 10th I was finally able to get off medication... and live freely my imperfect life ever since.... over 11 years and counting now... probably the greatest accomplishment of my life learning how to hold a job and function like others.... regardless of what nonsense my brain may be telling me...
Thank you so much, Andrew. You are a beautiful person, and I admire your bravery very much for sharing your story with the world. I am so glad that you did. I am grateful because you are helping to erase stigma in this world that is ready to move on from the old, in something bigger, better brighter. Never stop being true to you
Thank you so much for sharing your story. My younger brother was recently diagnosed with schizophrenia, and has slowly declined. Quit his job, quit making music, stays home all day because he can’t be around other people. He locked himself in his room all day yesterday, turned his phone off, and didn’t even come out to eat or use the bathroom, and wouldn’t respond to us all day. He finally responded after banging on his door several times. He’s gotten so bad because he wasn’t able to get his meds due to financial issues we’re all having. Your story has given me hope that he will get better. Idc if I have to starve, I’ll get him his meds one way or another. I myself suffer from anxiety and depression, and my anxiety has just made me doubt that he’s going to get better, but your story has shut down those doubts. Mental illness is so tough, but there is a light.
Thank you Andrew. I have dealt with depression for years. Some people have been understanding and some people have completely shunned me. It takes a lot of guts to share your story. Just know that you are encouraging people like me
That was so amazing. COMPASSION will save our world, may people open their hearts and minds and care for others in distress. Than you for sharing your story.
Andrew, thank you for your courage! I, too, suffer from mental illness. I have struggled with depression for as long as I can remember. The worst part is the shame, and the loneliness that comes when "friends" detect that you are not quite well. The rejection and abandonment when family and friends walk away is devastating. You are so blessed that your family was there for you. My brother took his own life two years ago, and I often feel he made the right decision. There is no respite here.
I feel for you - What a hellish experience for you and I understand for I have mental illness as well. Your parents suffered I believe as much as you for I have a son to with mental illness and I suffered and I believe even more. I admire your strength and thank you for sharing your personal experience with mental illness. .
Kim, The Lord Jesus Christ helped me in this battle and can help anyone who will believe God. Please listen to my story on UA-cam at Hearing Voices:real help and understanding. Praying for you, Carol
Can I just say that is absolutely beautiful, amazing, inspiring, and motivating!!! You are just a wonderful man, with so many bright roads ahead!!! Thank you for your story Andrew!
I nearly cried. I feel so sorry for this man. It takes absolute balls to do that. Don't criticise his talk, stay focussed on sorting your own insecurities out so that you can help others to do so just like he has.
I have a lot of respect for you. I'm sorting myself out for paranoid personality disorder. It's just my instant perception of others, although it has influenced most of my opinions and I need to retrain it. I hope you keep inspiring others.
Hey Stew!...after a long time now, this is the second time I've watched this. I'm glad that your music has not stopped. Your playing always sounds great brother. Keep doing what you're doing because you are one of the greatest people I've ever met.
Awesome and inspireing video yes it is true we are not violent at all but lack of Love and Support can be fatal????? We are all in this together to beat this illness G-d bless you Andrew Very inspiring Message Amen!!
I don't think focussing on vivid details of unwanted symptoms is effective in "beating mental illnesses" Learning to pay heed to what improves quality of life and being diligent about educating yourself in neuroscience psychosocial support systems pharmacology is what will help in reducing the suffering. I wouldn't aim to beat an illness I would aim to heal my mind and body. There is so much to learn about this subject. People need to get curious about causes and treatment options. I think everyone needs to learn how to live in a mentally healthy manner. No one needs to dwell in the events of the past.
Andrew thank you for your story i really thought that you were so powerful in sharing what you did ! I'm more than amazed that you survived this. Just remember, God is loving and he loves loves lovessssyou.....i think yes it is smart that you go on medications, the chemicals in your brain are imbalanced, like mine. I hear voices too. I heard them since I was little. I am 21 now and just finding a medication that works for me, and yes taking care of your self is a part of it :)you are so smart
Mental illness would be easy to conquer when the therapist is for you, and not for the mental illness diagnosis. When they diagnose you wrong, so that it benefits them or their friends in low places then how do you get over that? I had to diagnose myself, to get it right. Then when I confront my therapist with why she diagnosed me with "paranoid schitzophrenia" when only ONE marker she checked matched with it, but the same "paranoia" also goes with PTSD!!
Andrew, LOVE YOURSELF and LIVE YOUR OWN LIFE. There was probably too little love in your early life and too much expectation for you to become an ideal (prodigal) child. You have learnt to strive to meet those expectations to receive love and acceptance. Crisis came typically at the age when the brain starts growing/developing rapidly. That's when such diseases as schizophrenia start. YOU ARE A GREAT PERSON and YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO BE YOURSELF. Repeat that to yourself dozens of times every day.
Andrew , there is nothing wrong with you brother , people out there , who are deliberately full of lies , exploiting , are worse than you . Be proud of yourself .
Anyway, its been nice arguing with you but it's pretty evident neither of us are going to change out minds on this matter on account of an argument on UA-cam. I'd like to thank you for remaining civil and wish to pose you this advice. Do not try to defend people who agree with you but go about it the wrong way. It is a losing battle, I should know. Best regards and have a good day.
oh wow.. oh wow..well done Andrew! it's hell to be in that "hole" but you pulled yourself up!!! you asked 'are we afraid of you?' hell no man, I envy you! It's the scariest thing to go thru it, and some didn't get thru it, but you did. I think the next target, is to be in that list of Winston Churchill, and Abraham Lincoln etc.. go for it! You have the same gift as these heroes.~ from a survivor.
Emotions are an extremely potent Friend or Foe, depending how U use it. Emotions WILL LITERALLY KILL YOU IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW HOW!! IF U really want a cool life, FEEL GOOD FOR NO REASON EVERYDAY, AND APPRECIATE WHATEVER U HAVE NOW, EVEN IF YOU'RE BROKE-ASS POOR, cause when u "Appreciate" WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND HELP OTHERS WITHOUT EXPECTING ANYTHING IN RETURN( U can't fake it, U can't lie to yourself, cause U WILL KNOW), AWESOME & COOL INTERRUPTIONS INTERVENE IN YOUR LIFE like magick...
YES we do & must bring the discussion out from under the rug, out of the dark back room & N 2 the light of day. As we know - U talk about any difficulty the false stigma is destroyed. At age 60, now 64, I moved my dream/vision 2 reality & created The Walk for Mental Health Awareness - Houston. My vision is 4 this 2 become The National Walk for Mental Health Awareness. It's held on the Sat. during Nat. Mental Health Awareness Week in October. We R a "Positive Public Dialog" Join our dialog
Religion is an "ESCAPE" for your insecurities, THAT'S IT!! It is U thyself, your PRESENCE whom you need to Forgive before your next step, to Love & Accept yourself UNCONDITIONALLY meaning to acknowledge ALL your faults, disabilities, fears, EVERYTHING THAT YOU THINK OR FEEL THAT IS AGAINST YOU!! INVITE & WELCOME IT INTO U, (Don't be surprise u shed tears), BECAUSE U R FINALLY ACCEPTING WHO U R, THAT RESISTANCE U FOUGHT YOUR WHOLE LIFE BECAUSE YOU DID NOT TRULY LOVE YOURSELF..TILL NOW.
use lithium orotate, it is a natural supplement i have been taking it for 17 months zero depression zero mania and zero bipolar and yes i was Bipolar type 1. I suffered for over 20 years of depression, 25% of North America is natural Lithium deficient. Let me know if i can give you some research thanks and God bless
I know the difference. I was wondering how monotheistic is bad but polytheistic isn't. I don't know enough about Islam to say, but in Christianity and Judaism, there are strong tenants against violence. The authority of deity commands only humanistic goals with the occasional harmless ritual. Further evangelical atheism has just as much of an alienating effect on alternate belief systems as any other. In short, these religions discourage violence, but have been used as an excuse for violence
Can I share your video with my doctors of comicare because i share with having mental illisness i woukd buy it Roy Perry 528 Glean cirle drive apt C E-town Ky 42021 your friend Roy
You do realize that if he wasn't religious his illness would have manifested in different way? Religion isn't bad, though it has been used as an excuse to do bad things. Many great things in this world have been used to horrible ends and we don't trash them.
Thank you too. I really think you should take another look at the Bible. Yahweh does nothing but kill and because he's god expects people to be okay with that. A lot of people believe that a God that allows anyone to suffer eternal torment for finite crimes is a loving God. That is beyond messed up. My heart goes out to you if you were raised in a religious household. I don't know you, but I think (from the way you respond to my arguments) that you may have been brainwashed. Just a hunch.
And may I point out that you have yet to even attempt to defend your original statement, that religions, later refined to monotheistic religions, are inherently bad.
You have given reasons why the Judeo-Christian (which I have given a pretty good rebuttal for) but not why monotheistic religions are bad in general. You have given no reasons for what you think, just stated negative things about religion, and there are atheists out trying to convert by any means necessary with a very religious-like zeal. You have placed the burden on who you're arguing with to find the faults of the system he's backing and this is a real failure to debate or defend your ideas.
Read the Bible and you will see right away that Yahweh is a horrible deity. If you don't, then I don't know what else to tell you. There is no such thing as evangelical atheism. You are wrong. There may be people who are obnoxious at your school, but that has nothing to do with it.
Amen! Coming from someone with bipolar, struggling, with the rug pulled out from under her, i thank you for sharing.

1:16 literally burned out? so you were literally in flames until there was no more combustible material in your body?
