My dad bought one brand new. I miss it, but fortunately I know where it is, it didn't go to the crusher. It was one of the rare ones with the manual 3-speed and go pack. The reason he went that way was because of the way the ratio spacing was in the 3-speed was wider, first gear was lower than the 4-speed even, so you could go with a lower rear end ratio and still have good off the line performance. The engine was torquey, so the wider ratios didn't affect things that much, and since the final ratio was lower, the engine didn't turn as fast at highway speeds, and he got a little better mileage. Insurance was also lower on the 3-speed cars than the 4-speed ones, which was another factor that came into play for a father in a household where funds were a little tight.
The Hornet was a cool car. I remember it was peppy and cheap compared to other rods like the Charger. I don't remember the SC360 variant. Thanks Green Hawk.
Gorgeous ride! Never heard of these before. But just one question: Is it a 2-door sedan that has "coupe" in its name? hahaha. Thanks for another informative and entertaining video, Hawk.
I always click on your videos as soon as I see them in my feed. You’re really getting into the groove now with your channel’s productions. Good luck toward reaching the tattoo goal. The channel avatar will make cool ink for sure.
285 HorsePower?? In a 5.9?? In 1971?!? That CAN'T be Right!! You mean...WHAT?? You mean the Dodge Daytona's Not a muscle car??😁5:16 "Deep Dip RustProofing"🤣That Plymouth Duster will Always be the Al Bundy Mobile.😎And how the Hell was this Hornet Not a success?!? Seems like a poor man's Charger or Challenger. I don't understand! Oh, The Oil Embargo.
James Bond movie The Man with the Golden Gun had a AMC Hornet It was impressive.
Really the HORNET we WANTED from Dodge!
I love amc I think they’re are so underrated along with the javelin and the rambler. Great choice man, they don’t get enough credit.

America just wouldn't be America without muscle cars❤💪 🇺🇸!

Another good solid video my brother. 👍🏾 I remember these cars very well. I lived close to the AMC plant in Detroit.
Thanks for featuring this one. I didn't even know about this model. Pretty neat car! Cheers!
A woman I worked with years ago had one of these. She loved it.
Thanks for the video! A die hard AMC guy here. I especially like anything Hornet/Concord, and have five Eagles 🙂
thanks for this! have never heard of this model :)
And now the Hornet is a plug in hybrid crossover, because Stellantis hates America.
😆Now THAT's Funny!!!🤣
awesome car

It feels illegal to be here this early.
