    A revised law in Hong Kong has sparked fear among the estimated 14,800 asylum seekers and refugees who live in the city. Introduced in December 2022, the new policy allows immigration authorities to remove unsuccessful claimants from the city before they can exhaust legal pathways to challenge the decision. The government says the move was necessary to crack down on claimants abusing the judicial review process to prolong their stay in Hong Kong. Human rights lawyers allege the changes infringe on the rights of asylum seekers, while NGOs and community leaders say they are seeing a surge in the number of claimants seeking psychological help.

      i used to think it was racist to think like this but now i agree. if natives who have lived in hong kong for decades are homeless they need to be prioritised first over a refugee whos entered the country for 5 seconds. i have compassion for these refugees but if them entering the country affects the native population then its not okay. i have compassion but again the refugee mother who decided to have kids in hong kong despite her visa status, she knew she might have to leave and was hoping that her having kids would gain sympathy

      @@pennypillow4445 Things don't work like that. A lot of the HK homeless population are elderly with limited ability to work and rely on handouts, meanwhile you have relatively physically healthy or even well-educated refugees who can contribute to society with full time work. Count in their hard working kids and their ability to work and contribute is the same as the native population.
      And lack of housing totally isn't caused by immigrants coming in but by the rich cranking up home prices or local government arbitrarily restricting which plot of land can be sold for residential use and which plot should stay commercial or remain a forested area.
      It's preposterous to blame the refugees or the homeless for the housing crisis. The situation just isn't managed the way it should be.

      I learnt a lot from this lockdown.. not that I didn't realise what was going on.. I suppose I didn't accept it. Like.. not really... Cos why would any bank runs? Always? Often ? Cos people don't even stay in a single city to build it up? Why ??? So you keep running.. and the banks also keep running out of money as well.. and you keep printing ? I didn't know that the money inside China is all based on remittances. LOL.... That, is surprising... despite with SO many qualified individuals ALL across China.. and it could still actually ruin itself like this. No wonder they locked down their internets.. cos people don't know what to believe any more. What is true or false. And doesn't know how to get out of the situation either. etc etc. No wonder so many netizens write.."HK is a blessed land".. of course it is ! With so much foreign currencies FLOODING into the city ! Well.. no more now.. cos even the foreign banks are running out. Only China.. has more money.. holding in its own hands.. than those.. printed. Or ever acknowledged as printed by foreign banks. LOL...... You have to give it to China.

    To be honest, most people claim asylum in Hong Kong is not even legitimate, they just try to work there and they believe they would able to stay. For instance they can easily go to other countries in the Europe and remain there, why Hong Kong? When the UK bans people coming to the country with a small boat, did they not give up those people’s rights? ‘If they knew they are unable to stay they will not come’ this is from the UK Prime Minister, if you hate Hong Kong’s environment just go to the west they welcome you. Why wasting HK taxpayers money????? Btw so called asylum they committed crime in the HK just search up what they’ve done, the Hong Kong people should no longer tolerate.

    • @MeiinUK
      @MeiinUK Рік тому

      The reason why people are running towards the UK is because other countries have economically collapsed... but.. they also don't want to reform either. i.e. They can reduce their own export level.. and revert back to a country with an internal market.. and raise taxes and things like that to STAY inside the country. And control migration... which equates to controlling cash flowing out of the country. But of course, theyd on't want to stay and do that for the rest of their own lives. I mean, who would? But in the UK.. people do.. and they make sure that everybody does. So then the rules and the laws are stated clearly. Similar to Japan too. People stay and they do as well. They even merged their companies together as well....so thent hey knew what they had to deal with. The only problem for Japan is possibly.. not able to balance a generational thing. For HK.. there is a mega big issues.. like... they don't re-enforces the laws. They misconstrue the laws to a large extent as well ? And everybody does not agree to the same thing. It can work as a remote financial place. But the government doesn't reinforce this as well. And they also don't control birth rates as well. So those, even those who were transient... ends up indirectly with a HK SAR passport. But why ??? They didn't solve this issue either. And those banks.. some of those money are or WERE from overseas' chinese ! Not the "migrant who happened to be born here".. Do you notice that they don't have a great future, since the people protected their money by creating a trust already ? So there is no work or money for them? But they don't know that. Yet, everybody who COULD read Cantonese KNOWS IT.... and READS IT... and TOW THEIR OWN LINES....

    • @MeiinUK
      @MeiinUK Рік тому

      There are now far more "charities" in HK... than there are actual businesses.. and so many cantonese chinese.. have literally left the city.. either gone abroad.. and gone over the border into the Greater Bay Area.. to ignore those people.... and literaly hold onto their assets.. and never lease them out.. or to give them a chance. THAT is what is going on as well....
      It is also funny that Carrie Lam got banned from the USA... on this situation... and on her uncontrollable... stance..... well... A small city that tries to be local.. when there had been so many global players... who is now stepping on areas that isn't theirs to deal with.... USA is actually indirectly eradicting chinese people as well..but they don't know that. Cos why? The software didn't translate properly.... If anything, it probably helped some people end their own family trees and their powers.. over others. As usual.. it is about powers.
