  • Hello guys,
Today I will show you how to repair the Nespresso Citiz without changing the brewing head . There are other videos on youtube on how to repair this machine but there is no need to change the entire brewing head.

    Thank you 🎉
My machine is identical to the one in your video. I didn't have a oval bit/screwdriver, and stores are closer by now, so i heated a plastic pen and pressed it agianst the oval screw to shape it, and was able to unscrew them. After that, following your great instructions, i managed to fix the leak by cleaning the perforated plate, and clean out all the gunk buildup while at it.
Again, thank you for allowing me to fix it for free instead of throwing it out 🤟

Thank you Adrian for making this and showing it to people 👍🙂 I had disassembled my unit once because of a loose water pipe... Now years later I wondered if the brewing chamber maybe got a crack but it seems like the punching plate and area where the holes are, is the problem now 😉😊 Keep up the good work! Cheers George

Brilliant video for coffee lovers & DeLonghi Nespresso machine owners... thanks for sharing! 👍 I had the same issue with a newer model (internal mechanics are identical) and I cleaned the perforating plate thoroughly using a toothbrush, ran a full cleaning cycle and used compressed air to gently blow through from both sides of the perforating plate & in through the nozzle. I then ran another cleaning cycle... and some of the gunk did actually come out. The leak on the inside appears to have been re-sealed... but I suspect that I will have to redo this cleaning operation every now and then.

Nice job mate. If you open alot of these coffee machines, consider making a T or L shaped oval driver, or mod the existing one.
This model has 4 screws to pop the main unit a bit out. So I used a 3 jaw chuck to sds adapter from my bosch hammer, and boy that grips on the screw so good you can't pull it out. The rest of 5 screws are for the rest of the bottom part, but if you only need to get the main unit up a bit so you can tackle the sides, take those 4 screws and the main unit is loose from the base. Make sure you don't pull too much, as the pipes from the water tank don't have much slack.
I will take mine apart to clean it tomorrow, and I hope it's not the o-ring, even this is about 7-9y old.
Thanks again for the video, as I was going to oder the whole brewing unit, but now I'll check where the water comes out, and try out the cleaning method first, as this machine was never cleaned.
    Cheers !

    Cheers Adrian,
I attacked my leaking Magimix last night and cleaned out all the holes. The nozzle was filthy dirty and I had good hopes this would solve the leaks. The good news is, the coffee produce the ends up in the cup is better again and the leak has gotten less. We still have some dripping left here, but after about 10 years, replacing the entire machine might become an option.
Thanks a lot for the video, it's very instructive and by this I succeeded in not only taking the machine apart, but also putting back together and having it working again.
    Cheers and enjoy your coffee
    Paul

Hi Paul. Happy New Year! After 10 years of use for sure you have a shrinked o-ring gasket. That one is really easy to change and to find. The down side is that you have to reopen the machine again to have access to it.

@@benassy69 hi cheers again, opening and closing gets easier each time. After cleaning the piercing grid and trying a few slightly different size of o-rings, the leakage has not sufficiently improved after all. i decided to replace the machine, rather than investing in a new brewing unit. still i liked the journey of trying the cheap options. it gave me trust in the repairability of machines and a regained my repair skills a bit :)

I have found that a dental water flosser like the water-pik works wonders as a miniature pressure washer for cleaning tiny details like you have on this project.
I have one of these that I bought at the thrift store. I wanted to use some parts to build an automatic pour over machine. The pump, and perhaps the boiling tank. However from the pictures it looks like the boiling tank is made from aluminum, which is what I am trying to avoid. Is the tank aluminum or stainless steel?
    Thanks.

But the quality of krups is not only cheap it´s also very difficult to repair. It starts with the head of the screws on the button. I replace them by screws with a torx head. The plate in the brewing unit is made of plastic. No metal ( very cheap ). When I try to move it out of the brewing unit I do not get the plate in one part, I got three parts.
