I'm ordering your book now and I will definitely leave a review. I'm 80 years old and was diagnosed with GP in February. I love to cook and, obviously, have cooked for years. It's been stressful trying to figure out what to eat, so I'm looking forward to reading your book and trying your recipes.
I just found you after being diagnosed with GP as well as having a bazoar. My doctor told me to drink coke to try to desolve some of it. I am quite sick sometimes from “food”. I watched your video and will go to Amazon and purchase your book. I need the education and the recipes. I did a search for naturopath holistic gp recipe book and somehow you popped up. I really enjoy your whole food “reality” as I am doing all I can to do things naturally… including supplements. Anyway, I’m rambling. Glad I found you. Blessings and Love ❤️
I was diagnosed in 2014 after several abdominal operations. I've been following you since then and have appreciated all that you've done to educate us about "How to Live Well With Gastroparesis!!" I look forward to reading your new book and will definitely leave a review on Amazon.
I've been struggling with gastropresis (undiagnosed for a year) and now that i know what i have I've been learning about my diet. Thank you so much for this and literally thank God for putting this here for me. My only struggle is finding the proper treatment in my state.
Hi, Drina. I'm so sorry that it took so long for you to get an accurate diagnosis but I'm glad that you're on the right path now! I know how overwhelming it can feel, especially in the beginning, but there are lots of resources out there to help and I promise that it IS possible to live WELL with gastroparesis and to thrive despite the diagnosis. I hope this book and my other videos and resources help you on your way there. Sending lots of love and good wishes!
I have just been diagnosed this year with GP. I believe I’ve had GP for 20’years undiagnosed, masking as reflux. It is completely over to figure out what to eat. I am ordering now and can’t wait to read you book. I have the second one you wrote and it helped me a lot. I do the anxiety thing you talk about. Everyday is filled with what do I eat anxiety. I also have ADHD and never have an appetite so that makes it even harder. Thanks for doing the research so that we can all benefit from your knowledge.
Thanks. My son has gastroparesis and we have just started the journey. I liked the warning about carbs and sugars. I like that you mention vegan diets, as we are finding that part really Challenging. I am going to order your book. 😊
I'm very new here. Ive been struggling with loosing weight, not eating and just all the gp symptoms and nobody knew why. I went thru this beginning October of 2021. But I'm so thankful that you uploaded this. I literally just started watching your videos not even 30 mins ago because my gp has been having me have flares and i came across your channel. I will be purchasing paperback on Friday thank you so much again !!!!
Just got told i have gastroparesis. I see my doctor next week to go over the results and what to expect. I also just bought two of your books to help me out. Thanks.
I was diagnosed 3wks ago. This is a nightmare. I wish I could find a good book with sample menus. It's going to be difficult going to Restaurants& Family functions.
My partner compete cured her gastroparesis with animal based diet, no seeds, oils, sugars, vegetables or leaves, only eats raw milk, fruits, meat and getting off medications and birth control, it was astonishing how quickly it went away. Her stomach produced acid and bile again after having absolutely none. We tried every other diet option recommended for GP and they all failed. It comes back if she eats too much sugar or vegetables but it has been in remission for a long time after she had it on and off for a decade. I really think there is something there with this way of eating to cure certain types of GP.
So glad she found something that works well for her! Idiopathic gastroparesis is such an individualized condition, likely because it's not one condition at all, that it's hard to extrapolate one person's experience to another. But I think being open to experimenting with things that make sense to you -- even if it's outside of the traditional recommendations -- is really important and something I talk a lot about in the book. Glad your partner is doing well!
I have had Gastroparesis for years, diagnosed in 2003. Have had Type I Diabetes since early childhood in 1972. I have nephropathy, neuropathy, and other complications associated with having lived with Type I Diabetes for years now. The comment above regarding the person who is now able to go off meds and is able to now digest foods again gives me hope! I am unable to digest any processed foods and it’s been this way for many years, however, I am able to digest raw cheeses and soft meats so I’m wanting to try doing what your partner did. However, I’ve recently had a stent implanted due to heart a clogged artery which is genetic. This lead to renal failure, and so I am eating almost zero saturated fats now as I don’t want to go through renal failure again. After the heart surgery, going into renal failure happened because my creatinine level went up to 300. It’s so difficult to know what to and to not eat. I just bought Crystal’s new book and and reading through it. I do know what I’m able to digest and not digest though. It did give me hope to read about your partner! Thanks for giving hope!
@@denicedancasey I'm sorry to hear about your condition, it is so tough to deal with. I didn't see your comment until now but I really appreciated reading it. I hope that you are doing okay, any updates? I will be starting a UA-cam channel in the next 3-6 months and GP is one thing I would really like to discuss, as well as sharing the story in more detail. I've seen how much suffering it can cause and the relief she felt was amazing to see, and I want to help people if at all possible. I think the end stage medicalization route with GP is so disastrous, the guidance is non-existent and docs just offered meds and garbage meal shakes. It's crazy it took me of all people (not a doctor I'm just passionate about biology and nutrition), 99% of doctors will hurt you more than help you. they don't see the whole picture (diet, plant toxins, mold exposure, hormones, etc). To my untrained eye that seems like an approach I would be hesitant to take personally (0 saturated fat), but if it is working for you keep going with it. I wish you well
@@brandymoreno382 there isn't one food or group that is problematic with GP, it is highly individual. If it helps you then drink it, but it is more important to get nutrition, cabbage juice is basically void of nutrients. Not to mention it is a heavily sprayed crop, and some people with GP, IBS leaky gut etc have a hard time with plant toxins even without the fiber etc.
I’m so looking forward to getting your new book (I have all the others😃) but I have severe food anxiety along with my gastroparesis and unfortunately haven’t found a therapist who has been able to help me. I look forward to your ideas on how to tackle this difficult problem that comes along with gastroparesis.
I'm sorry you're struggling with the food related anxiety. It's a significant issue for a lot of people. I hope that what's in the book will be helpful for you. There's a specific section on food related anxiety but honestly the whole book was rewritten with the goal of alleviating the busy, heavy thinking most people with gastroparesis feel around food and eating -- whether they identify it as anxiety or not. I think you'll find the whole thing works toward helping your mind let go of the hypervigilance and allowing you to relax a bit around all of it. 💖
I’m sure your book is great, congrats. We definitely need more gastroparesis books out there. As a vegan though, I found the book Low Fodmap and Vegan by Jo Stepaniak to be helpful. In case anyone is looking for more recipes.
Does anything work for GERD? Ppi meds don’t work. Not even in high doses. I just recently got put on motegrity for slow motility. Gastric emptying test showed mild Gastro paresis. The medication has definitely been helping me go to the bathroom daily but probably still not emptying the stomach fast enough because the reflux is getting worse. I mostly have sore throat and tingling in my mouth and tongue. doesn’t get worse when I lay down but it seems to be constant all day long. I am chewing Pepcid AC tablets every 30 minutes and I know that’s not good but it’s the only thing that takes the edge off.

Hi, Melissa! Most of the non-vegan recipes are meat-based and don't have vegan modifications. (Roasted Chicken & Root Vegetables, etc.) The juices, smoothies, sides/veggies, and desserts are nearly all vegan as written. There are a couple of vegan breakfast recipes and a couple of vegan soups. I woke up one night so hungry I just ate and ate and didn't care about my gp consequences. I've been sympton free since except for eating smaller portions than a normal person, but my portions are increasing. Guess I just got lucky.
I think of the hardest things for me is that sometimes I can eat one food for awhile but then it will cause me r be sick for several days. It can really be a rollercoaster ride from day to day. Also people at work so do not understand how I feel ( They think it is in my head even when I throw up all day long oh u are making urself sick are u bulemic or seeking attention I'm tired of it!
This diet not only is helping with my dx of gastroparesis, but with my newest dx of paralyzed esophagus (thanks to a surgeons mistake). Knowing that it's not all about just eating simple carbs as my physician said, is helping me accept my new food journey.
Does anything help with your reflux? PPI meds aren’t doing anything for me? The new motility meds called motegrity is helping me poop but nothing is touching the acid in my mouth
@Brandy Moreno At first PPI's and Journaling my symptoms was my go to's. Then came diet changes(no beef, no citrus, no trigger foods seen in my journal). But, my GERD just became obnoxiously bad. Food was my worst enemy. So, I made an appointment with a Gastro specialist. After I did a bravo test, I knew where I stood- either surgery or suffer. I suffered for years until I heard the words "changes to the cell structures, soon to be Barrets Esophagus." Those words scared me into surgery.
@@RosannaPerrigo what kind of surgery did you have? Did it stop the acid? I’ve heard the procedures like the Nissan fundoplication surgery doesn’t always work. If that’s the surgery you had do you have difficulties with gas and bloating. Not being able to vomit, etc.. I have gastritis which I’ve had for about a year so it would definitely help the acid from coming up my throat if I had the surgery, but it wouldn’t heal my gastritis. I now have bile reflux coming into my stomach and up my throat since having my gallbladder out two weeks ago. They have me on bile binders, but it doesn’t seem to be helping right now. I’m hoping that the bile will eventually calm down.
