My little guy will be 2 this fall and I realized other I don’t actually have anything for him to “learn.” I don’t want junk toys and I don’t want to be full Montessori but I need things to do WITH him and enrichment on his own. He loves learning and has outstanding fine motor skills but needs a mental challenge, I see him get bored with regular toys if they don’t have a challenge.

Great video thank you. I’ve just come over to you from Tori’s channel. I am a U.K. mum of four 8, 5, 2 and 10 months and I am about to start our homeschooling journey after falling in love with it during lockdown. My two year old also wants to have his “lessons” as he calls it. I have a 5 year old and a 3 year old. And I have tried sitting down And doing structure work but every time we do my 5 year old just doesn't cooperate. Even when it involves drawing with a video. My 3 year old is already so far ahead of the 5 year old. So I kinda just let him do his own thing until January. He's not behind. He knows some sounds and letters and he can identify numbers and letters when he chooses to. 😒 He doesn't even want to do khan academy kids. But trying to do the scissor skills both just sit at the table and cut papers 😂 and the 100 easy lessons book is just so hard to follow for me. And the 5 year old is just not interested. My 3 year old loves to ask for school work randomly throughout the day and when she does I try to give her the dry erase workbooks that we have. She's not steady or even to the level of tracing and following the lines so I just let her do her thing. It's pen practice.

Once my kids asks me what a word says then I teach them how to read. So my oldest learned to read at 2 and now at 4 she is reading chapter books. We also teach sounds first begins at birth

Awesome video!! I love all of your recommendations!!! I have a 2 year old daughter, she'll be 3 in a month, and I am thinking I will be ordering the Bob Books and teaching to read in 100 lessons, and see how she does. She's already started reading. This morning she was able to read quite a few words in Dr. Suess's Go, Dog, Go, and it was soo exciting for all of us (my husband, my daughter, and me) to see her be able to read whole sentences all by herself!!! That was all just by learning sight words!!! She knows all of her letters, upper and lower, can count to 100 by 1's and 10's, knows all her shapes and colors, and more! I'm always looking for, and finding new ways to make learning fun for her to keep her motivated and engagwd in learning and it is truly paying off!!! I am getting so much joy teaching her and watching her grow and being a part of that, I am seriously considering continuing to homeschool as she gets older, but we will take it a year at a time and see where life takes us, but I truly believe she will get so much more out of life homeschooling. I have the Pre-K The Good and the Beautiful along with many other supplements. I am taking the unschooling approach, but using a curriculum as well, just to help as somewhat of a guide. Your videos are so inspirational as well as informational (is that a word? Hahaha) Thank You So Much for all you do!!!

Thank you so much for posting this video because with having two toddlers you are really not sure where to start with homeschooling. You wonder am I doing this right?? Is this too much? I have a 22 month old and a 3 year old. At first I was trying to figure out if I should start a curriculum but I felt it was too much. Watching your videos has eased my mind some. Right now I use a lot of flash cards, sensory bins, read to them, and allow them time to work on puzzles and color. I’m trying to figure out how to incorporate hands on activities involving worksheet assignments. My toddlers don’t like to sit still for too long, so I’m working towards that lol. This is so far the best video I’ve seen on how to transition from baby to toddler to pre-k. My daughter is basically in between all of these but for my structured planner self this makes so much more sense to me. I can have varying levels to help her. She’s 3 and is already tracing letters, asking about letter sounds and shows a genuine interest in wanting to read.
My question is how do you develop the other subjects - science and history in terms of hands on learning. I’d like to engage her beyond letters and math. Any suggestions you can offer would be extremely appreciated.

Well when it comes to history at such a young age I wouldn't really stress about it. The What your preschooler needs to know book does go over history and science as well. When it comes to science I would follow her interest and expand upon that using books and experiments from Pinterest or library experiment books. I also found this website handsonaswegrow.com/science-activities-toddlers/ they have really cool and fun experiments that you can do with a toddler. In my early homeschool days I was all in with Montessori, but I found it overwhelming to keep up and to keep switching out the toys and activities to keep my little ones engaged. It is a GREAT homeschool model, but 100% Montessori wasn't right for my family, so I took a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Stay-tuned. I'll do a video to show you exactly what I use.
