The cap should be flexible based on local tax rate. So if tax is 15% in Van over a zero rate in say Florida, Van’s cap should be 15% higher. Easy. Still benefits low tax states owners but gives higher tax markets a leveler sheet of ice.

An NHL player pays less tax in Edmonton and Calgary. Florida is 3rd best. Vancouver is the 8th best place in the entire NHL .

How come analysts never ever mention the state income tax as a factor when signing a contract?
Taxes period is so much lower in the states then up here where we get taxed into the ground.

Ppl have a misconception on Guentzel being a great signing for the Canucks if it panned out, but what ppl don't realize is that if we sank $9mil on Guentzel times 7yrs, that means there's no money for Brock and he walks next year. Also, we definitely wouldn't have the money for good quality role players and we would have had to dumpster dive for reclamation projects to fill spots on the team...
