@@rrrttt1112 honestly I didn’t even try it out this summer. Used the Yamaha all season. Johnson is still sitting in my garage ever since I restored the cowling etc with new paint and decals.
Mine didnt seem to piss. Took it out 5 ft into salt water and it made a clink sound and I couldn't get it to rotate. Went out today 6 months later and it rotates with compression. Is this little motor supposed to piss?

Very nice... I just picked up a 1975 Evinrude 4hp... under 10 hrs on it... still had to fix carb and a coil but it's sweeeeeet now!

Yeah only thing good about these is the weight normally, wish the one I used to have moved that fast damn... had to get a 9.9

What are you’re settings on idle knobs and what’s your procedure for cold start? Just bought exact motor trying to get familiar with it

I have one of these motors and the water comes out several holes near the waterline. You can see it in the near the end of the video..
That's a good thing. Water coolled motor.
Those are exhaust relief ports for low speed. If they spit and the shaft is warm, not hot, you are good to go!

No ,water escape via exhaust holes
Just spit. The rest goes out the bottom. If the shaft it hot, dont run it

water comes out of the mid section and it is a mist. i have worked on many of these and he is getting a perfect stream of water
90% of water leaves with exhaust under water. These holes are not a true indicator. If they spit, you are good. Shaft should be warm, not hot
