I’m excited for this challenge! I’ve had a piece of Pendleton wool for 30 years or more that I just couldn’t bring myself to cut. My mind is saying Jasika blazer now, so here I go! Let the fun begin!
I have some silk my cousin brought me from Prague when she was there performing. It’s a beautiful embroidered fabric. I’ve decided on the Be Mine Balloon Sleeve Top from Pattern Emporium because it has minimal seams.
That sounds like a great idea to show off that beautiful fabric. If you post a pic on instagram, be sure to tag me so I can see it (and you can enter to win!)
Really excited to be sponsoring this amazing challenge! I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone makes - I think this theme is going to generate the most stunning output as everything will be made in a special fabric 😍
Would really appreciate you sharing your Lutterloh experience - The set looks amazing - but I cannot find any source online that shows how to make fitted pants with the system. Also loving this challenge .....off to the stash!
I made a dress similar to yours that had the same shape sleeves, but they were elbow length, and it looked great. Maybe cut the green one with shorter sleeves. Still a dress, but a very different look.
What a great idea this challenge. I have so many precious fabrics that I almost don’t know what to sew. I have been saving them for something perfect….
OMG, this is so much fun Whitney. I'm almost done with my choice , can't wait till post my make later today or tomorrow. Enjoying the vlogers so much fun to and I subscribed to a few of them. 😊
I don’t usually do contests but this one is a good motivator for me. I have a dear friend who gave me some scarves and African Wax print fabric that I’ve been scared to cut into. A second option would be: I have a set of quilting fat quarters Simply Delightful by Sherri and Kelsi Moda that I thought I would use for a quilt. I’ve always been scared to cut into it. I’m not quilting as much anymore so I’m thinking of turning it into a quilty vest. I’m jazzed about both projects.
Great challenge, I just have to make up my mind which pattern & fabric to use. I will make a twirl first to ensure the fit. At the moment making dresses for project dress a girl 2024 - made five last year so want to double that this time. 😊
You have really inspired me! I have some fabric from my Think Pink sewscription box that has been just hanging out on my shelf….I decided to make the LN Timbre. I usually make a wearable muslin, but since LN fits me pretty well and going off the finished garment measurements, I decided to just go for it. If it doesn’t fit, I have more TP fabric I haven’t used yet.
Wonderful! The Timbre has become one of my favorite dresses and I think you will enjoy this quick sew! And most importantly, get that beautiful fabric off the shelf and onto your body! And don't forget to enter for prizes!
I'm so excited. I have a piece I've been holding on to. Knit. So I definitely need to do my muslin first. LOL. Now that Luderlow system I'm so looking forward to seeing your video on that. I ran across that just before you started talking about it. So I'm waiting.
Love this challenge! Because I am sewing a module for an upcoming vacation, I didn't think I could add this. But as I listened I realized 2 of those tops--a dressy dinner blouse & a sweater knit pullover-- met the guidelines. Both fabrics were purchased just because I loved them. Thanks Whitney! PS Your trees look exactly like the well tended trees from Le Vesinet, France where we lived 35 years ago. They a much too straight to be pickles.😂
Gosh, I would be afraid to sew with that, too 😍 it's Gorgeous!! Greens have been my favorite food group haha. I'm planning on picking something for this challenge, actually I may be already working on it haha. It was one of those "It's Time" decisions that spontaneously happened all by itself Saturday. The fabrics were flying! 🙃
@@TomKatStitchery Well put! 😉 And I realized that the satiny lawn that I had folded up with it for the lining was one of my first on-line fabric buys that I loved an just couldn't find the right shirt pattern for... so win win. 😍 (and #2fromstash in one project)
At one time I bought a sewing app and input all my fabric with pictures, length, content, etc. it took me forever. Then when my computer updated its system, the app would no longer work. I was devastated. I’d also input 50 years of patterns.
Looking forward to the tutorials coming up. I did some elastic pants and simple type of shift dress with the Luterloh system. I did the pants muslin first and found for me to use my finished measurements (ease) worked better. However they required very little fit. I was quite pleased with them. Can you find if we can order more up to date patterns from them?
Whitney, have you ever tried to line the Closet Core Pietra pants. I’m doing that for the Precious Fabric Challenge I thinks once I get the front leg together I can use that as a pattern for the front lining. Same for the back. Any suggestions?
@@TomKatStitchery thanks. This gave me a good refresher. Now I just have to decide if I’m going to eliminate the elastic back waistband ( I found a tutorial where someone did it) and add either a side zip which I saw you do on your daughter’s Pietras or change it to a back zip. A little worried about the back being too bulky with a lining if it is gathered.

I also have a beautiful Pendleton wool piece. I gained lots of weight from medications, but now I’ve moved to Phoenix and don’t wear wool blazers.
Yay! Get it started and tag me when you post your pictures on instagram to enter to win one of the prizes!

That Lutterloh pattern will look beautiful in that fabric. Can't wait to see it made up.
Stay tuned all through September and see how it turns out!

I'm so glad you are having fun following along! I find myself oogling those beautiful fabrics and being inspired to sew more!!
This is so timely! I'm staring at some shot silk that I think would be a beautiful lining for the coat I'm making. And second guessing. Decision made.
Oh that will feel so good inside the coat and make it so luxurious!
I'm looking forward to following along with your journey through the Precious Fabric Challenge. Thank you for everything you do!
You are so welcome!
I bought some off white wool in hong Kong way back in 1988. Still haven't cut into it. So maybe this is a great challenge for me.
This is the perfect time! There's no time like TODAY!! I'd love to see what you make!
Such a great challenge! I am in.
Thinking I’ll use my precious denim.. 😊
Yes! make it into something you can enjoy!!

Both of those projects sound wonderful! I've been seeing lots of quilted jackets and vests lately!
Sounds like a great challenge! Do you plan on showing how to redesign the facing into a lining for the dress? Thank you so much.
Stay tuned to see what I decide to do!

I am excited about this challenge. Sew Carol has used the Luterlo system
It's been around for a really long time!
Oh my… I have this fabric that my daughter got me for Christmas and I really have been worried that it wouldn’t be perfect.
I hope this inspires you to take the leap and make something beautiful!
love the challenge, love the hair!
Thank you! Please join us in the challenge
Oh my, those trees that look like pickles! Beautiful.
❤️❤️❤️
that silk is GORGEOUS!!!!!! The trees do look like pickles though lol!!
You and Jenni think alike with the pickle trees.🤣

Bummer!
Sounds fab… I’m hoping to use some precious fabrics this Autumn/Winter - just not sure if I’ll have the garments finished in September though… 🤔🫤
You can do it. I believe in you!
@@TomKatStitchery thank you, I’m toiling a dress for a charity ball in Nov so will take a few more weeks at least…

I have not lined that pattern but I do have a tutorial on how to line pants: ua-cam.com/video/wnxNIsczrsc/v-deo.html

Looking forward to September! You have a spelling error in the title of this video. Challenge is spelled challege.
Great catch! I corrected!
❤❤
❤️❤️❤️
@@TomKatStitchery so I just shared my first precious challenge video on my channel asking for help to decide on a pattern and fabric. Exciting 😊
@@SewFelicia ooh!! How exciting! Did you tag me? I’ll go take a look!
@@TomKatStitchery I included the precious fabric challenge as a tag in the title. Should I add a tomkatstitchery tag? 🤔
@@TomKatStitchery I’ve added a tag for you too now. I’m still a student of the platform. 😊
Jenny's wrong. The trees look like jalapeños 😅
🤣🤣🤣
I’m looking forward to see you use the lutterloh system. I have it but have been afraid of going for it 🫣
Give it a try! Check out my video about it posted on 9/6/24
