I am a Jamaican and i can say on behalf of EVERYBODY in jamaica that is not the real Jamaican patty...dah patty deh small and looks dry... PATTY FI A RUN OVER AND BIG that is not a patty dat a bread dry bread listen to mi patty Fi crumble when yuh bite it dat patty look tough like bulla on be half of Jamaica an all di patty places we DO NOT claim that bread how dare I call dat a patty kmt RUBBISH
(thank you for the likes everyone)
Ikr but sadly that’s the average size out here in America lol I be sad but I still buy it cuz I miss it so much.. along with coco bread
@@raverchu1894 same
Facts I'm not Jamaican and can tell that's one bought from Walmart. I used to buy it
Dem coulda at least guh a Golden Krust. 🙊🤦🏾♀️
@@raverchu1894 not in connecticut never had a beef Patty look so small is there even meat in that?!
Definitely not a Jamaican Beef patty but we love to see the love and support 🇯🇲 🇯🇲 🇯🇲 🇯🇲 🇯🇲 🇯🇲 🇯🇲
and that was not authentic jerk
I was thinking that too.
Jamaicans..What does a Jamaican beef patty consist of?
@@VjmopremeKENYA they have the concept right, a pastry crust with beef inside. But a real Jamaican patty isn’t as dense, it has a light flaky crust and then beef is a lil more tenderized.
Me nuh it wasn't, the shape alone
As a Jamaican we nuh claim dat patty right deh so 🤨
Exactly not even one crumb
*If you bite the patee and it's not so flaky that it's stuck in your teeth and making a mess on the plate, it is not right!* 😂
Definitely not claiming it 😂
“Trained expert to prepare it” 😂😂😂 baby I hollered cause we ain’t never been trained
i hollered! "trained expert"! Apparently, we are all trained experts
Exactly. It completely ridiculous 😂😂
I'm 12 and I'm cocking ackee and Satish its not that hard jeez
"Ackee is dangerous and it takes a trained expert to prepare it" 😂😂😂 all we do here in Jamaica is just wait for the fruit to open on its own while still on the tree. Once its opened, even slightly its edible. DO NOT pick and force open the fruit or else ☠.. thats all.. Love from 🇯🇲
Right! As simple as that
You need to remove the seeds too those are very poisonous
True true
All wah you explain means we are trained experts 😂
🇯🇲
Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹 , st Lucia 🇱🇨 , barbados 🇧🇧 Bahamas 🇧🇸 Grenada 🇬🇩 all have amazing spices and dishes hope you guys aleast try one from each
Yessss part 2...🇹🇹

"You need a trained expert to prepare Ackee". I guess all Jamaicans are trained experts
😂😂😂😂 I was thinking the same thing
lol me laughing bc i was preparing this since i was young
As a Jamaican, I nearly died when I heard that you need a trained expert to cook ackee🤣🤣🤣..just wait until it's open..pick out the seed and the pink part..ready
Mi a dead wid laugh Dawg, Trained expert mi foot 😂🤣

This definitely needs a part two:
Guyana 🇬🇾: pepperpot
Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹: doubles
And so many other countries and islands
CORRECT🇹🇹
Yesss👏👏
Never had doubles but people say it's really good
@@Forever4God It isss
Jamaica has pepperpot soup too, not just Guyana it's self .
As a Jamaican I can’t tell you those weren’t authentic only because the table isn’t covered in flakes of pastry now I must get one!
Exactly what I said😂😂
I love that you have these people try different foods, but it was mostly Jamaica. I’m shocked that you didn’t include Trinidad 🇹🇹 or Barbados 🇧🇧.
Trinidad & Tobago food is just pure flavour. We have so much yummy food to name a few Callaloo, Roti in all forms, Doubles, Pastelles, Curry Crab and Dumplings, Gyros, Chinese Food, Fried Bake and Shark. The list is endless. ❤
As a Jamaican, just reading the comments I completely understand and agree that they can explore more of the Caribbean. Maybe for additional series cause I mean they didn't have to do so many Jamaican foods.
typical americans, honestly they don’t know anywhere else other than their country and they barely know the states, you’re lucky they know about yours, they didn’t even make an effort to explore the caribbean after boldfacedly making a video about said population, imagine countries from south america made it before dominica, grenada, trinidad and tobago or even barbados where rihanna has shamelessly mentioned she is from
Best thing was to see Sharon packing whatever food she left after tasting into a small lunch box she carried 😂
She can never fail to make me laugh
'A trained expert to prepare it' - LOL As a Jamaican that's hilarious because we all make ackee at home.
Lol i😂
Bredda a spit facts from yah youngin from high-school yuh know fi cook ackee
“Around the Caribbean” mostly Jamaica 😂 but I liked the variety
I’m so glad y’all got to try some Caribbean food plus gotta love Sharon with her tuberware the Ackee and salt fish is a great breakfast meal I’m glad Sharon likes it 🇯🇲🇯🇲
Ackee and salt fish with festival bread is my favorite...just dipping the festival bread with some ackee and salt fish on it is pure goodness 🤤
Me being Caribbean and eating these dishes every week. Glad y’all are enjoying them🇯🇲🇭🇹
You guys went "around" the Caribbean and stopped off Jamaica three different times and never even step foot in the majority of the other Caribbean countries. Makes a lot of sense to me. You could truly say that you covered the whole Caribbean by going to Jamaica three times and missing out the vast majority of other Caribbean countries.
Well Haiti and Jamaica and the others are Caribbean food right? So they did try Caribbean food
@@NativeNomads10 Exactly! and trying just Jamaica, Haiti, Belize and Puerto Rican food is representative of the "whole Caribbean". Espcically when you highligt three different Jamaican foods and other countries didn't even get one their foods highlighted.
Most English speaking Caribbean countries eat Jamaican food, they can consider it as their food too.
@@NativeNomads10 I'm from T&T and yes we do eat Patties but other stuff I've only heard about and never actually seen or haven't even heard of. So that isn't necessarily true. I think there especially in the past and even to some extent in the pressent the believe that Jamaica is the whole English speaking Caribbean.
I visit Trinidad and you guys eat ackee, well some, and Jerk chicken so cut the bs
How to get Caribbeans mad 101
Fr mi wan tell dem boh dem mada💀
😅😅😅😂😂😂
As a Jamaican, I’m happy she said Ackee properly 👏🏾❤️
True
These are great foods to try from my country Trinidad (Roti, Pastel, Pelau, Bake and Salt Fish, Cou Cou, Calaloo, Sweet Bread, Doubles, Phoulorie, Corn Soup, Aloo Pie, Crab and Dumpling, Buljol, Souse, Black Pudding and lastely Dhal)(Drinks - Sorrel and Mauby)
Barbados (My Moms Country) (Oil Down, Fish Cake, Pepper pot, Flying Fish, Jugjug, Souse, Rice and Peas, Salt Fish Gravy)
Cou cou is our national dish in Barbados
My mom is Bajan and she grew up in Trinidad so I only know it in Trinidad
This video should have been called "Dishes from Jamaica"😂
my exact feeling, No Trinidad, Barbados or Dominica
Like WTF!!
Pretty much and mofongo isnt a street food
But other Caribbean food were displayed, should they have removed them?
Wait a darn minute....Everyone talked about the food, no one mentioned the woman in blue brought her Tupperware container.. and stored the leftover 😂😂😂
Lol I was just about to talk about it. My lady storing to enjoy later😅

Don't ask!
Or ducuna in Antigua

it have other islands in the Caribbean other than the Northern Caribbean... The tried like 3 Jamaican dishes... Cyar complete the Caribbean without PepperPot, Roti, Doubles, Egg Ball, Cou Cou and Flying Fish, Oil Down... and sooo many others!!!
Totally agree
Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Antigua, Dominica, Grenada, St Vincent,St.Kitts
For once I’ve seen Haitian representation😭
I feel like no one knows about us or our country; this made me really happy to see🤧
Yall need a part 2. Including more Caribbean places like Dominican Republic.
I have been saying this for years lol
Yes our food is always flavorful they forget the pikliz for the griots 🇭🇹
Yehhh
Sharon is so adorable when she giggles. Every show with her is fabulous!
Those Jamaican Patties haven’t even been in the oven yet 🤣🤣 but ‘A’ for actually trying.
Yeah dem a di fake one dem
🇭🇹🇭🇹 There is nothing like Haitian food! So much variety and flavor! Black rice, legume, patties, tasso, etc, etc. The picklees was missing from the griot. You can’t have Haitian griot and fried plantains without the picklees!
Got to try, black pudding, souse, oxtail, ital, coconut dumplings! Omg the list goes on!
The fact that Ms. Shannon brought her Tupperware- no doubt going home and eating good🤣. She’s all around funny!!
Sigh I wanted to see Trinidad &Tobago 🇹🇹 so bad we have so many amazing dishes from curry crab and dumplings, pastels, pealau and so much more
There's so many amazing dishes in the Caribbean! We only had time for just a few... we'll def be doing another one of these!
@@PeopleVsFood Yes!!!! Defiantly do a another part (maybe more) including Trinidad and Tobago foods along with some other islands!!!! The Caribbean has alot of foods to try.

Yes Jamaica 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲❤❤❤❤
I am Haitian all day' when it comes to food.Haiti has many different taste of food,, from the south, north, east. They're all cook differently.
The fact they said a trained professional for ackee is crazy that's literally every jamaican 🤣🤣🤣 we're all professionals
Love seeing my country represented 🇯🇲🇯🇲❤️🇯🇲🇯🇲
I love seeing foreigners enjoying our food!🥰🇭🇹💃🏾
Every jamaican kno seh that pastry nuh right so means the filling definitely not gona be right but still appreciate the mention
Yal need to eat food in the south Caribbean regions, they very very different: macaroni pie from Barbados, doubles or bussupshut from Trinidad, etc
Surprised that they didn't have a Dominican, Trinidadian, or Guyanese dish. But I guess one can only cover so many countries in one episode. Wanted to see curry goat! Or goat curry if you're Guyanese
producer: it takes a trained expert to prepare it (ackee)
Me a 10-years-old: Casually preparing ackee and saltfish
I laughed at that😂😆
Same I was like anybody cook asked here😂
Ackee and salt fish is Jamaican 🇯🇲 national dish. We have so many dishes in Jamaica 🇯🇲. Especially our Jerk dishes. Jerk Chicken, Jerk Pork, steam fish, roast fish, stew peas. Jamaica food is the best.
hello you guys had 3 Jamaican dishes and there's 26 islands, granted you only need so many pork dishes cause that's the national meat of the Caribbean but besides the point gotta try some Cuban, Dominican republic is right next door to Haiti! Trinidad come on guys got to represent we need a part 2!
The Jamaican patty and jerk chicken were wrong. That patty crust is too heavy, it should be lighter and flakier with a slight crisp. That jerk chicken looks like it was done in the oven, jerk chicken should be grilled/smoked after seasoning with special jerk spice blend (difficult to find authentic jerk outside of Jamaica). The festivals looked so so.
Haiti my country!!
That's not a Jamaican beef patty. That looks more like a British pasty
Right
The Jamaican Patty is too thick and it should be way more flakier than that but everything else looks really delicious.
Ya know everyone can’t get the AUTHENTIC 😁….I have only come cross a few places in different states that have good one
@@camarojai6832
Surprisingly though, Canada makes some good patties. I live in the US and always take a bunch home from Canada when visiting.
Bro I wish they were so big 😂
Exactly
This brought joy to my morning to see Haitian food being celebrated!! 🇭🇹 if you haven’t had griot folks OMG u have to try it!!!
"You need a trained proffesional to prepare ackee"

Yall are too funny
That not our beef patty😢😢😢
Foods from Trinidad and Tobago: Roti, doubles, bake and shark, different one pot cook up. Also oil down from grenada
Ya'll should try some Trinidadian dishes❤ but yes my Caribbean people representtt💯😊
EXACTLYY!!!!!!!!!!! BRING ON THE TRINBAGO FOOD
def needa try trini food
Im part Jamaican and Trinidadian so this is just Good vibes and memories

What's that never heard of it
😭When she said festival bread i was lilke wah? that a fry dumpling😭😭😂
I’m so glad people are trying out Haitian food. Griot is so good. If you guys ever get a chance try Tasso. Basically same type cooking but with goat meat instead of pork.
Haiti has some of the best foods 🇭🇹❤️
Agreed
I didn't know I was a trained professionals I've been cooking ackee and catfish from high school 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Can you make me some 😭😭😭🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹
Catfish? 👀 you mean salt fish
No one eats Ackee and salt fish by its self you need a side and funny enough it goes with basically any sides you can think of
yzt
🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲.. come to Jamaica for the real patty y’all .
I love my country, culture and food 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Jamaica to do worl! 🇯🇲🇯🇲
“How did you guys enjoy our trip around the Caribbean” three of those dishes were Jamaican. There’s so many Caribbean island dishes they could’ve tried if they did one of each
Love to see Haitian food/culture represented well !!!🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹
Need to go further south of the Caribbean, like Martinique, Dominica, Saint Lucia, Barbados, Saint Vincent & The Grenadines, Grenada, Trinidad…
You mean east
when she put the patty in the container 😭😭😭... made my day
So proud of my country Jamaica 🇯🇲 nuff love I watch this show all the time to see my country is a blessing thank you
I am sure that the Caribbean sae the title of the video and thought, "Lemme watch this, next thing my country here" come to find out it isn't... no hate on Jamaica but they could've chosen other Caribbean countries to show case as well... Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, St. Vincent, St, Kitts and Nevis, etc... like come on the Caribbean has so many other contries....
No hate you just stated facts they couldve showcased more countries
Ikr
But nobody wants to talk about Curaçao, Aruba or Bonaire.
@@wedontagelikemilktho.7839 WHy would they? They sound like central American or Asians countries to begin with
lol so many people over here coming for Jamaica 🇯🇲. Jamaica’s impact is huge around the world.
Ikr!! Once anyone says the Caribbean they automatically think Jamaica. It's not our fault that our country has so much influence globally.
@@kayameyamamotoYeah musically but it’s overrated when it comes to food, the other Caribbean countries deserve love too, they shouldn’t named it “Caribbean” just “Jamaican”😉
@@wedontagelikemilktho.7839 womp womp
@@wedontagelikemilktho.7839 But then why do the entire Caribbean imitate our recipes and food? lol keep hating
I’m just glad Haitian food made everyone up there so happy lol 🇭🇹🇯🇲🇧🇿
The ackee is only toxic if it doesn’t open naturally, once it open on the tree. Or on the ground it is perfectly safe.
I need to find the chef who made the jamaican food so we can have a conversation about better representing our countries food, the festival looked like fried dumplings, and the patty was not pleasing to the eye.
soor its not festival bread its called fry dumplins, festival is something kinda similar but festival has a bit of sweetness to it festival is made from dry corn an flour whilest fried dumplings like what you had is made from flour only, there are lost of other dishes we have in jamaica i would love to introduce to you all but plese be prepared for a world of you falling in love with the caribbean🤭
🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲 I love the introduction to culture through food 😌 big up yuh self JA
“ackee takes a trained expert to prepare it”
10 year old me on the veranda about to make breakfast: 🧑🏽🍳
Me at 5 doin the same thing wondering what professionals are they on about
ZACKLEEE 🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂😂 can't believe some ppl are press that we got 3 dishs out of the 6. Not to worry we don't claim the patty, so it's actually two. Yes fyi am sure they know there are Caribbean Islands beside Jamaica 🇯🇲
Jamaican 🇯🇲 food is the best!!!. You can try oxtail, jerked pork, mackereal rundown, manish water soup, red peas soup, stew peas, curry goat, jerked fish, steam fish, Christmas cake, coconut drops, toto and many more.
It's funny how she says it takes a trained expert to prepare ackee. While every jamaican just pick it off the tree and cook it.. as long as it open when yah pick is, yuh clean it properly. Yuh good cause ppl even eat it without cooking it. I guess all Jamaicans are trained experts 🤣🤣🤣.
Exactly🤣😂
The ackee is a fruit that needs to open on its own to release the poisonous gasses. If you open the fruit forcibly, the gasses will remain in the fruit and that is when it can cause death. That Jamaican patty doesn't look anything like the ones made in Jamaica. Correction that is fried dumpling and not festival as stated.
Shoulda give dem cowfoot wid butter beans!😂😂😂
trained expert to prepare it...
10 year old me pealing ackee and cooking it for breakfast for my entire family to eat...
Right😭😭
Nice feature! 🇯🇲 Big up all Caribbean people!!!
As a West Indian person, disappointed that this video only stuck to the major countries/islands. The smaller islands like Dominica, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada and so many others have amazing dishes to try
The next video maybe! I'm jamaican, loved the video. You're right though! the second installment should have more islands. The West Indies is diverse and many ppl don't know that!
A MUST need to do Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, Barbados, Dominica, St. Maarten, Antigua so many to choose from. Pepperpot Oil down Pelau doubles
That patty look like a loose front! 😂🤣😂

There's so much more Caribbean islands That I don't understand 3 dishes alone from them, Technically that is 3 Caribbean dishes they could have tried out.
Trinidad and Tobago
Barbados and Guyana
Yes exactlyyy💯
Interesting fact. You can trace the origins of patties back to ancient North East Africa. The Moors brought their version to Spain and Portugal giving you the empanada/empada. Italians got theirs from the Roman occupation of North Africa giving you the panzerotti.
The Britain Cornish pasty is developed from their interactions with the Romans and Spain.
Jamaica patties share more in common with an empanada not a cornish pasty. But the connection is attributed to the English.
Anyway given the connection to Africa, it makes sense people in Jamaica knew what to do with it to make it iconic. 😁THANKS.
That looked like one of those supermarket patties 🤣
😂😂😂😂😂
Naaahhh don't do our Jamaican patties like that, that's *NOT* a jamaican patty
