I have a funny story to share. Before the last game was announced, my brother and I were wondering if there would be a next batman game. We were thinking of possible titles and I kid you not, one of the ones we came up with was "Arkham knight". We laughed at how stupid it sounded, only for it to be revealed a couple of months later. One of the weirdest feelings I've ever had.
Rewatching this now, it made me realize that Arkham city in specific had such a specific eerie vibe to it that can’t be replicated by other games. The minor details like scarecrow’s plans and harley’s pregnancy and what they did with joker’s story line had been done in such a way that it could not be replaced. Replaying the game now, that same eerie vibe is still there with all the details especially when it involved the joker and that’s why I love this game so much
I played this game's story close to a dozen times and never even realized that. "So how do you keep a secret from the World's Greatest Detective? Well, do you know? You stick it right in front of him, right under his long pointy nose, and wait."
Another thing is when the fake Joker says ''You fell for the old *fake Joker gag, Batman!'' Hinting that the person saying that isn't Joker and if you didn't notice it, you're left scratching your head as to why he didn't say ''bats'' instead. Now that's good game design!
Theres also a segment in the first mission in the steel mill before meeting joker for the first time, you can hear Harley say "he does looks just like you" and joker replying "shhh dont spoil it"
Let's go over every hint to scarecrow being in arkham knight. His original mask as a riddle, the boat, the hidden frequencies with the messages and then the most obscure one of all, the scarecrow riddle from arkham asylum was "Jonathon crane plans to elevate fear to new depths". You find the arkham city BOAT which travels the DEPTHS of the ocean next to a CRANE which ELEVATES things. And the boat references his plans in arkham knight. Combine that with the arkham city map in quincy's office in arkham asylum and you can safely say that they had arkham knight planned as the final game from the start. Edit: then there's the arkham city story you unlock from scanning the mask that says that even Batman didn't believe scarecrow was dead. As well as the scarecrow fear gas you can find in the third riddler hostage room. Oh and the dead scarecrow thugs you can find during protocol ten.
During Protocol Ten, I was escaping helicopters when I dive bombed right next to the "Crime Ally" sign right next to Monarch Theater. Since I needed to wait out the helicopters, I listened to Hugo Strange's message. I could hear and feel explosions, and it was the most powerful time to listen to it.
That's exactly what happened to me. I escaped the choppers in a alley, I looked at the sign and said, "Are they here?" Sure enough I walked over, there was the white bouquet of flowers with Strange's tape. Then I said, "Strange and Jack will pay for this."

Dude (I know six years late) in Crime Alley, Hugo says it will all end where it began...Well (SPOILERS) in Arkham Knight, Batman's identity is revealed to the world in Arkham Asylum and the Arkham series started in the Asylum. Rocksteady has been planning this from the very beginning...
hi bai no Arkham origins was not the first game, it was just an extra Arkham game explaining Batman’s origins, so it is before asylum, but it’s not actually tied to the story of asylum, city, and knight
Uh no your wrong what he meant was that battle with joker the Monarch theater was near crime alley and crime alley was where the origin of Batman began and Arkham city ended at the Monarch theater with joker dying Strange predicted the location where Arkham city would end so...MYTH BUSTED
Not really weird, it’s not the first time rocksteady teased the next games plot with well hidden Easter eggs, they did it in Arkham asylum with the hidden room in the wardens office with plans for Arkham city.
Agreed. Soundtrack wise & Score wise... I mean one of the best & main songs. Daughtry - “Drown In You” One of THE best songs, associated with the game. Still till today in my books & opinions. (Dec, 31st, 2018)
On the Harleyquinn's revenge mode there's a cradle with that puppet painted like joker inside along with a new pregnancy test with a negative result. On the box it says that the test can give a false-positive result. I saw it yesterday, while playing. I didn't even saw the first one, that appears on the video.
Now seeing the first Easter egg, it gets more deep, knowing that she was expecting for a baby and after Joker dies, she finds out the test had a cake result. It makes her grief more and more painful. Damn
is dat a fun fact or still an ester egg? ester egg right? dats it maybe spam and said "funfact" u looks like a chad... but u r not anyawy is the only ester egg that everyone knows
I remember lively that back in November 2011, this was THE game, every kid wanted a copy of Arkham City for themselves. I remember that I got it for my birthday in April 2012, it was a used copy, it didn't even had the Catwoman DLC which came with it. I spent countless afternoons playing this game, I played it so much that I memorized some of the dialogue in the game. In the end, Batman Arkham City is one of the best games I ever played in my life, I simply have no words to describe how much I love this game
The soundtrack always gives me the chills. Just listening to the sound score in the video my mind went back and I saw myself as 10 year old playing Arkham City and exploring the DC Universe's mythos and thinking of myself as a giant nerd
I got the Return to Arkham 3 years ago and finished both, and as of last night, I am going back to 100% all the Arkham Games, even Origins. Wish me luck!
@@MISSYamihere All Batman did was threw a baterang at killer croc's electric collar thingy, and it stopped him from actually biting scarecrow. And somehow, his mask ended up on a ceiling thingamajig.
But Arkham origins is the start technically and asylum was were batman started to loose his mind apart from origins batman looses his mind in every game Asylum scarecrow making him ingest all the toxin City joker dying and Batman’s fault he is out of his mind cause he broke his code Knight cloudburst
During the 1800s, in the Batman universe, Jonah Hex (batman before batman/the original crime fighting vigilante) was hired to investigate a series of murders that had transpired all over Gotham alongside Amadeus Arkham. The murderer was deemed the Gotham Butcher. Which ultimately led Hex and Arkham to discover a secret society consisting of all the rich and influential people of gotham. Said people wished and hoped to establish Gotham as the crime capital of the world. The secret society followed the teachings of a book known as the Crime Bible, which so happens to worship a vampire that almost took over all of Europe during the 12th century. That vampire was known as cain...really saddens me to see that Gotham, (1.ultimatley ended up becoming the crime capital of the planet. And (2. Somewhere in the fictitious universe reside the descendants of said people.
I have been playing the game recently, and think I have found a NEW Easter egg. If you look at the shape of the 'Restricted Section' on the map, it looks a lot like the shape of the demon's head seals you find in the game. Could that be a very early indication of Ra's involvement in Arkham City? And it's hidden in plain sight every time you look at the map... Personal speculation aside, it's great that the developers put the time and effort into hiding these things for people to find. Whether it's links between games, alternative dialogue (eg. meeting the villains while playing as Catwoman) or just reading the 'Arkham Stories' and listening to Interview Tapes. Makes it so much more satisfying to explore these things for yourself, or watch videos that show you these things.
The attention to details in this game is truly amazing. I played Arkham Asylum for the first time ever and it was so good that I started Arkham City the next day. And it was even better. I completed the story twice in a row and solved most riddles. And Arkham Knight is waiting for me. What an amazing game series!
I was playing today and it is August, and when I talked to him, he said that something monstrous will happen on the 16th. AND WE GO BACK TO SCHOOL ON THE 16TH. IT IS ALSO MARKED ON THE CALENDER NEXT TO HIM. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON
Nobody ever talks about the broadcast Easter egg but I think it’s one of the best Easter eggs in gaming history. The fact that it turns into 3 eerie messages all with one code is near impossible to do and is so cool.
I used to watch this video as a kid, and when your young these types of eerie yet cool details about the game leave a sad but nostalgic feeling. Something about these Easter-eggs felt “real” when I was 10, as if the world building and story was possible and it could happen in real life at any time (obviously now it’s not). Going to bed thinking about whether the joker was really dead, where’s scarecrow and etc. Although asylum is know as the “scariest” game in the series this game definitely has way more personality, eeriness, and lore/world-building than almost every game released today.
I don’t see what’s so special about it, my brother says it’s the best superhero game of all time and I 100% disagree (Spider-Man PS4 is the best superhero game). Arkham City has a great story but other than that it’s pretty shitty.
@@sweatyrie-rie5241 Just search the google by typing, "Most critically acclaimed superhero game", you'll find answer. Looks like you're an exception, and if an exception told that this game is shitty, then that exception surely has problem... G'Day!
Exactly they could of taken half of the tank battles and made actual good boss battles. Like at the end where scarecrow had Batman in Arkham asylum, they should have made an actual boss battle with scarecrow and Batman like how it was in asylum, but a little better. And put croc in the main story or at least have scarecrow meet up with croc.
Thunder Spartan, well, actually, there was a crowd at Wayne Manor, and that was after Bruce’s identity had been revealed, so Calendar Man just showed up where everyone was.
Those three Cryptographic messages and the hidden room, all foreshadowing of Arkham Knight. Rocksteady is really clever when they make these games, we see hints and hidden connections like this ALL the time in the Arkham games.
The Scarecrow Easter egg was an example of how a detective gameplay could have been created for Arkham Knight. I mean, players got to do everything Batman can in the Arkham series: gadgets, stealth, gliding, driving the Batmobile etc. but players never got to be the World's Greatest Detective. The Scarecrow Easter eggs involved more detective work than all of the Arkham games.
Theres one he missed. At the beginning of the game, before you confront Joker for the first time, you hear Harley say something to the tune of "Oh Mr. J, you look wonderful..... oh, you're not Mr. J". Then Joker promptly tells her to shut up.
You're close. She says "Oh Mr, J, you look wonderf- oh... it's... not really you... is it?" and Clayface (As Joker) says "Shut up... Harley!" But yeah, it's pretty funny how Rocksteady put a spoiler into the game as early as the first mission, though they probably knew that since it was a new game at the time that no-one would pick up on it...
When I first got Batman Arkham City I discovered the first Scarecrow radio transmission by accident and listened. I was so confused so I wrote down all the numbers I heard for the first one and then my buddy came around one day and I told him about it and he came up with an idea. He said the numbers could be of the alphabets so I gave it a try and was surprised as I read the sentence "I will return Batman" it was a huge mind blown to me Edit: Holy shit this comment blew up. Thanks everyone! I just noticed something after watching this video again! I think whoever runs this account is clearly a huge fan of the Scarecrow Easter Eggs cause he added the laugh at the very end.
That happened to me but my teatcher had the game as well and told me about the numbers on the secret radio messages,he knew I knew a lot about batman so I checked it out and figured it out after an hour
Kyle on the beggining of the game? like if u look up when walking there Azrael is there? or when you're on the rooftop some seconds before becoming batman?
All these little details and Easter eggs show how much they love the comics like us fans and makes the game feel like an actual loving and breathing environment! The world building in the arkham games is great and a Batman experience you simply can’t get in movies or tv! It’s one of the hundreds of reasons why this game is so great and replayable!
back here for nostalgia. this game was so fun and was even more fun when finding easter eggs and theorising what would happen in sequels, and coming up with cool ideas. good times this game brought us.
Yea I thought the same. The way I think of it City was Great , but Knight was just good. It was good game but didn't have the same excitement of City plus the ending sucked.
i think that is a really good game though i still thinking this is the worst of all the arkham saga (excluding the portable ones) my favorite is origins
The Scarecrow messages really bring a very creepy atmosphere to the game. You really can't deny the feeling of being watched by the devil, and that he messed your communication to give does encript messages. Incredible to see indeed. Best Arkham game ever.
I think it's so cool that "only you" is the ending credit and is used again in Arkham knight during the ending scene when you play as joker right before killing riddler
11:28 That's not Ra's al Ghul's sword at all, though. It's one of the assassin's, indicating they came to retrieve the body. His sword looks nothing like that.
Uh, no, no he doesn't. Why would he find friendship in the guy that killed someone like a son to him, crippled a ward that was like a daughter to him, and massacre many people along the way? He wouldn't. My theory is once Jason Todd was murdered by Joker he knew there was no saving Joker, and definitely NO chance of befriending him
FAIL Razor8 to know Harley just have daughter of that Joker it just make me feel sad. but in the meantime good because harley will have her legacy without the joker.
i remember when everyone found the scarecrow messages and were like omfg is this a hint to another sequel?? and everyone was so dissapointed because it was going to be a prequel
Me seeing Will Smith’s name- Now this is a story all about how his life got flipped turned upside and I’d like to take a minute to sit right there and tell you how I made the best game of the year. In Gotham City born and raised, in the Batcave is where he spent most of his days. Chillin our maxin’, training and making new tools. When couple of guys who were up to no good, startin robbin’ banks in his neighborhood. He got in one big fight, Alfred got scared and said “You must take them to the asylum”. They begged and pleaded day after day until Robin joined the fray, they gave ‘em a kick and Jason decided”I might as well kick it(x_x)”.
TheMatboe One theory is that Batman caused her to miscarry when she attacked him, and he threw her to the ground. That's why she's so pissed in Harley Quinn's Revenge.
Darren Z In Harley Quinn's Revenge, it is hinted that she may not be pregnant after all, as there are dozens of the same tests scattered around the Manager's Office reading negative. Also, if you read the box inside the crib it states that there is a chance for a false positive, explaining the positive one by her old outfit. In an interview, Sefton Hill, one of the founders of Rocksteady, confirmed that it was in fact a false positive, and Harley is not pregnant
Thing is with those "Scarecrow Henchmen", it can't be a texture glitch as they also appear in the Return to Arkham remaster and you'd like to think that Rocksteady would've fixed it. So in my eyes, they definitely are Scarecrow's Henchmen.
in Return to Arkham they didn't fix shit, literally has the same glitches as the old version, all the ways to access blue hell and to exit Arkham City are still in Return to Arkham.
The Batman Arkham games, specifically Asylum and City, are some of the most terrifyingly immersive games I've ever played. The worlds feel gross, wrong, horrifying. And the secrets make you feel like you're never safe- something is always one step ahead of you- and you can't even begin to predict it.
The radio message made Scarecrow sound like he was gonna come back even more darker and traumatize Batman, but then we got Arkham Knight and he spends the whole story sitting behind a computer controlling RC cars
Joeys Vlogs Bane would grab it because that's what keeps him strong, scarecrow would grab it because...(we'll prob see exactly what in arkham knight but if I had to guess he'd mix it with his fear toxin) as for croc, I honestly have no clue
Ha. No. Arkham City's is great, but Knight's is even better. I made a playlist of all the best in-game music from each Arkham game, and Arkham Knight is by far the largest. Origins is the weakest with only 25 (and I'm being generous) music tracks that aren't utterly generic and mediocre.
Just imagine.. batman comes home after joker just died to the batcave he checks the batcomputer and theres joker singing only you for bats imagine if batman just cried right there..

Is this legit?
So batman became a reincarnation of that guy I'm presuming.
@@ThxIcarus Jonah hex is a character that's been around for quite a while that comic definitely isn't the only thing he's been in
I have been playing the game recently, and think I have found a NEW Easter egg.

You're Pretty Good wow no shit
You're Pretty Good the scarecrow easter egg is kinda scary to me
The Scarecrow Easter egg was an example of how a detective gameplay could have been created for Arkham Knight.
Ooh, never noticed that!! Maybe clayface?? Or... I don't know...

You're close. She says "Oh Mr, J, you look wonderf- oh... it's... not really you... is it?" and Clayface (As Joker) says "Shut up... Harley!"
But yeah, it's pretty funny how Rocksteady put a spoiler into the game as early as the first mission, though they probably knew that since it was a new game at the time that no-one would pick up on it...
