This place has robbed so many people of a decent life, the building is soaked in horror and the tears of children who were abused within its walls, it wasnt a school ,just a torture chamber disguised as a scholl, and i pray that the evil " teachers" go straight to hell.
I've seen a support group advertised for folks who had been sent there and were abused !! I think that the solicitors Thomsons in Dundee are pursuing this and so are the Police and they would love to talk to you if you have not already !! Good luck and take care !!
@@jimking3288 l was there as well and punched and slapped. Seen there is lawyers representing people. Everytime l think I to contact my anxiety goes sky high
i went here in i think it was 1991 ..for a school trip..it was an activities week..we done orienteering ....i remember the robin hood cartoon wall clearly ....it wasent the best school trip but was ok...remember the dorms were freezin with uncomfy beds.....cant remember yhe name of our dorm but im sure the lassies stayed in one called reekie lynn or something.....id forgotton about the place till i saw this vid and googled it...and am absolutly horrified with what i learned about what went on there in the 60s and 70s ...totally horrifying....hope those ladies get some sort of justice and closeure......its shocking what went on there and the council destroyed all the records and proof of it happening ......saw a pic of he headmistress fletcher too.dont think she was there when we were ..she just looks like a wrong un .......creepy as fuck!!
Looks like it could be hazardous to explore that woodland in a windy day. I like the beautiful big ferns & the mural. Would have liked to look at the flowering bush & the mural in more detail. How long do you reckon those cars have been in that collapsed shed? Looks like it must be getting damp & mouldy in the main building now, with some of the downpipes being in poor condition & the render deteriorating in places. Thats quite a big place. I think it has been added to over the years. The newest bit probably provided science labs etc & possibly more modern accommodation. Any idea of the age of the oldest parts? Did you try to get into the small seperate building? Thankyou for sharing.
Hi I went here to Fornethy Residential school in the 80s for 1 week I am now finding out things went on here previously in the 70s not sure if 80s too but it was a school trip a week of activities had a fun week its strange to see the playground like this now it was in good condition and the woods around it are beautiful the building sondifferent and yes spooky now
Mansion house, dated 1915. Two and three-storey large 16th century style castellated house with a harled exterior and a slated roof with crow-stepped gables. An inset stone has a date of 1915. Designed by Fryers and Ponman of Largs. Built for the Coats' family as a summer residence, then later converted to a residential school in the 1950s, opened in 1961 and closed in the 1990's
Huge place. Shame you couldn't get in. Try Again some other time. Hee hee! Wonder Why it closed. I hope next time you will get in. Cheers to you and stay safe.
I went here with the school in the 80’s it was great place we went orientating in the woods am sure there still care taker the looks after the place nice to see it again
We went there a few times late 80s. Went for 2 weeks a time i think. Inner city kids doing orienteering and hillwalking. Getting fresh country air. Its got a nasty history though of child abuse. Never witnessed anything myself but that means nothing! Feel for the victims of any abuse!
I think they changed how they ran the place in the 80s My cousin went then it was by then an all boys school and he loved it however when I went in the 70s it was all girls and run like a workhouse like something out of a Dickens novel and not a good one
Hey guys , shit , what a cool place , shame there was no way in , would have been interesting to see whats left in there m keep up the great work , like it

I went here with my sister in the 70s. It was a horrible place with nasty staff who treated us badly. Mrs Fletcher was the headmistress then.
I was there too in the 70s horrible place. No wonder they couldn't get in we couldn't get out either
Nothing but abuse! I went in 74. Hellhole of a place.

I went her in 82 and loved it can't believe everything that went on there
Unfortunately it did. Protests in Scotland are going on now.
This place looks awful to start with, but the stories behind it are worse.
Isn't this Fornethy? Historic abuse victims are still fighting for recognition. Please see U.K Column News, they feature this today Sept 4th 24.

Doubt it place is bugged with cctv maybe ill go back sometime
Probably closed because of the abusive behavior of the staff against the children they were paid to look after
