What a great effort. Brings back great memories. Been living in Australia for 30 years. Not used to seeing so much green. Rannoch looks the same as over thirty years ago. Wade house ruled !!!
Whilst I have a mixed batch of memories from my time at Rannoch they are mostly all really good. Made some exceptional friends for life and have some of the most amazing and enduring memories from my teenage years there. I loved it, 94 - 2000. Thanks for the video 👍🏻
Best days of my youth, shame not everyone shared my love for rannoch, it was literally the making and saving of me, enabled me to become the fantastic person I am today, although I know of many boys with a different reflection...
also went here, 92 - 96. Sad to see it it looking so dystopian, think the best thing would be to keep the main building and pull down all those awful pre-fab structures that functioned as boarding houses like Potts and Wade. Very mixed feelings about the place in general tho - there was lots of bullying/physical abuse, it was totally orientated on sports instead of academic or cultural pursuits. Best thing about it was the beautiful countryside . I hope all these boarding schools get pulled down one day - they are basically breeding grounds for obnoxious self-entitled sadists, and the other pupils often end up in therapy in later life.
During my time at Rannoch I was bullied terribly. Both physically and mentally both of which have left scars which affect me to this day. To say I was happy to hear that the school had failed is very much an understatement. Society has started to change now for the better and I am glad that no more children will have to endure years of fear at that damned place!
I attended Rannoch in 1983-1985. I was one of the first batch of girls to attend the school when they went co-ed. I found living in Robertson house rewarding and difficult. I still have memories of playing on several competitive school teams-field hockey, netball, tennis, and track as a shot putter. I remember becoming Junior Scottish shot put champion for under 18 girls at the age of 11 in 1983/84. Our school competed against Strathallen, Gordonstoun and other schools.
I'm a botanist from California who is researching the giant redwoods Wellingtonia, whose seeds were first brought to Perth from Scotland in 1853. I'm trying to figure out when the row of redwoods at Dall House was planted and how many are there. I was at the Black Wood two years ago, but couldn't get in to the estate to see the redwoods. Do any of you who went to school there remember how many redwoods are there, and/or do you know when they were planted? Thanks. (nice choice of music ... )
I have visited the place years ago and met the owner MR JAMES, really nice chap and he has a lovely family...he had put in a fantastic planning application and was going to re developed the sight into a full eco members club running off all hydro power only. The old school dorms were due to be demolished. But idiot planners turned him down! He's restored Dall house and it looks stunning inside..wow..wish I could afford to buy it! Not sure what's going on now with it. I wish them all the best with whatever there proposing next!
I was there from '63 - '66. Hated the place and all it stood for HOWEVER, the video is brilliant and it is a shame that the place has gone in such a sad manner. Maybe the ghosts of Bat, Paddy and Jem are having the last laugh!
I went to this school from 89-94 and practically hated every minute. However this really saddens me to see the site looking like this. Although nearly 20 years on I now feel a little better towards Rannoch. thanks for uploading this, when were you there, both filming and at the school.?
We spend a lot of time at Rannoch, love the place, one of the mountain bike trails we go down ends at the back of the old school, it looked like people were living in the building next to the tennis courts. seems a waste if they don't use the buildings
ta for that Claire take it you were at Robertson do you remember cara?? lisa alvis I was at dall stay in Dubai now but im defo goin back to see school again had a wee tear there! robert
unbelievable, looks like there was a nuclear attack or something and the whole school stopped what it was doing and left for good. Who the hell owns it now and how have they left it to rot like this?? As an ex pupil of the school, seeing this video saddens me, and to those who have allowed it to rot like this, SHAME ON YO!!!!

Hi - is there an old-boys' group anywhere? I had a friend who went there and lost touch with him (Peter James Ware, American dad, Scottish Mum).

Best day of my life leaving this place, feels like a moral victory that it shut down ,and is now in ruins!
If walls could talk, the walls of this place could turn your blood cold.
