Cleared Hot Episode 184 - Nelson Grant

- Опубліковано 14 жов 2024
- Nelson Grant is a Sheriff's Deputy and Search and Rescue Team member in the Flathead Valley. In addition to his current duties, he has previous experience on the SWAT Team and Narcotics Task Force.
When not on duty Nelson enjoys partaking in just about every activity that Northwestern Montana has to offer. Bowhunting, rifle hunting, river raft guiding, dual-sport motorcycle guiding, backcountry split boarding and skiing, touring, trekking, downhill mountain bike riding, jiu-jitsu, and probably even more that I am forgetting.
If there was ever a renaissance man of the Montana mountains, Nelson is it.
Ive said this before. In January i was a fat 240 lb, damn near useless alcoholic and in a toxic relationship. This podcast help me call my own bullshit and take ownership for my life. Ive dropped 50 lbs, left my wife, and working on a degree to get a better career. I say all that to say this, If i can do it so can you. One day at a time and one foot in front of the other. Set a goal and start walking in that direction.
Awesome!
Sounds you gained massive control.

The IED design that Andy was talking about is called an EFP designed by Iranian Elite forces headed up by Qasem Soleimani and one of the reasons he was taken out by the U.S. Military Strike...

TIMESTAMPS:
great episode Andy. I listen to two other interesting podcasts I really like- The Lex Fridman Podcast (a good friend of Joe Rogan's) and the portal with Eric Weinstein. I thought it would be interesting to hear you on there, or for you to interview them. Just an idea, they have not had SOF dudes on there yet except for Jocko on the Portal- it is cool when opposite worlds collide like that. You were great on the Growing Gorillas Podcast too! have a great day everyone!

@Dave Oliver, awesome job Sir!! You're doing Nguyen proud!!
My favorite part of seeing a cleared hot episode drop is knowing the new two bears one cave episode will drop within the hour... But i always come back and listen to the rest of your convo andy, keep up the good work mate
This is two bears one cave light
Soccer player here. “Cooper Test” is a fitness qualifier in my HS and in college tested in “preseason” which was 2 miles under 12 min. Fun times 😉🤣
Really enjoying this episode. I'm getting my WFR and glacier travel certs this summer. I did find humor in the Seattle is not known for mountains comment considering the Cascade and Olympic ranges with several massive volcanoes and the deepest annual snowpack. I am still splitboarding weekly. ;)
This. Was. Awesome! Talk about 6 degrees. I'm in IT (It's my day job. 25 yrs, trying to replace it with other sources) Last week I was at a client site - local municipality. We (2 officers and I) got to hear about the "guys that came in town for training and ended up getting their house invaded by a drunk kid. They tik-tok'd the call in!".
Awesome.
Andy, could you have an FBI HRT guy on covering what the job/lifestyle is like. Someone who has been on the team in the last 10years.
Emphasis on that last part. Glover talked with a guy who was a Waco and Ruby Ridge, but all he did was try to emphasise how cool HRT is and how they’re absolutely not LE but instead almost a JSOC unit. Regardless of whether he’s right it ruined the entire podcast for me.
100%. Most of the info and interviews with HRT guys is with people who were in during the 80s and 90s. Similarly, it would be great to get a former DEA FAST guy on. They spent a lot of time in the Afghanistan as well as Iraq and South America.
@@armhelc7501 but some HRT guys actually saw combat with CAG afaik
@@volcomfreak111 absolutely they did. It just felt like he spent more time clarifying how high-speed he was that he did talking about HRT itself or what he did.
@@armhelc7501 in all fairness, HRT guys in leadership positions had double digit deployments to ME/NA as assaulters with JSOC. It’s a huge portion of their job. Whitcomb wasn’t exaggerating.
This is a solid podcast. Super interesting and different content and I loved it
This guy is what all first responders should strive to be.
I like the new logo transitions!
They are definitely cool and remind me of the early 1980s “Defender” and “Starcastle” arcade games!
Enjoyed listening as always. Great content and entertaining.
You the Man Andy !
Hanging out with Roofers,...all we do is stare at Roofs and talk about work.
Great episode Andy. I have a guest request- An Air Force combat controller.
Yes!!! Great Chat Guys!!
The hell is this 1:34:00 long podcast? We need more Lé Andis. Exquisite. I think thats how its spelled. Oh wel
Nelson's take on Milwaukee is spot on. Grew up there, sad to see it the way it's going. Set homicide record last year.
ive been drunk enough to crawl into the WAY wrong tent on a float trip....whoops. not even in our group wrong tent lol
You need to get Adam Calhoun on your pod cast!! He's an all American guy that has a great life story. You will either love him or hate him. That will make a great show!
I tell people all the time that they didn't put the weight on overnight, so it's not coming off overnight.
Here we go again 🔥🔥
It's driving me nuts that the camera is cutting off the top of Andy's head and I can't scroll up any farther. AHHH.
Wow this sounds great!
One very important aspect for police/corrections/security or anyone who does shift work is diet exercise and healthy living is crucial to long term success and quality of life. That lifestyle takes a toll. I have seen so many young people with heart problem diabetes ulcers etc etc go to start early
Guest request- Luke aikin the dude who skydived into a net
Andy knows him, I’m sure he could make it happen.
Whens Andy gonna have a USAF CCT on here?
I’m pretty sure that different SEALs also get that qual.

I know (not personally but I wish I did ) a certain little badass noodler/hunter gose by the name HANNA BARRON might be pretty cool to have her on the show
Awesome, Thanks
Probably why they're so quick to taser or shoot, they know a physical confrontation wouldn't end well.
Awesome guy!

Lululemon makes awesome khaki work pants and polo shirts. Ppl always associate that brand with yoga pants, understandably but they also make the most comfortable pair of fuckin mens dress pants I’ve ever worn. I got a few pairs from them. Wear them everyday to work.

From my own personal experience overcoming addiction, I would define addiction as the inability to stop doing something even though it has a negative impact on your life. Basically a behavior or substance that overrides all rational thought telling you that you shouldn’t be doing this. Side note something kind of interesting is substance addiction hijacks your mid brain which is responsible for life sustaining needs. Your frontal lobe is responsible for rational thought and 99/100 times your mid brain will win against your frontal lobe.
The cropping out of the top of Andy's head bugs me lol
My ocd is through the fucking roof. Lol 😂
Every thing else about this podcast is 1000000000%

You can still join the military without having the will to kill or the will to die and then you can transfer to the HRT program after 4 years in. The chances of even seeing combat nowadays are pretty slim anyways. That other route sounded too convoluted and there’s no guarantee of even becoming a swat EMT let alone making it to your desired occupation in the end. I would join the military and leave all that other shit aside.
I'm a bit tired hearing about Jiu Jitsu, I don't want to do hug & roll with my opponents. Let's do Shaolin instead, it allows you to keep distance while kicking butts and doing dancing moves in the process )))
