Thank you for these very detailed video instructions! I am excitedly waiting for my "apartment-friendly kit" to come in and these videos are teaching me a lot!
Got mine yesterday :))) Instruction booklet is very well written but the videos sure are a bonus. Thank you so much for designing an affordable lap harp (still paying off my large lever so yours is a blessing). Will absolutely spread the word!!
Is there any way you could make a video viewers could use to tune their harp once completed? I'm stringing my harp right now, and that is my next challenge...getting her tuned up! Also wanted to add, these videos are a great supplement to your already fantastic instruction booklet. This was a very satisfying project to do!
We are planing on some more videos...mainly about installing levers...but your's is a good suggestion too! Some quick thoughts as you begin to string... One of the most important steps when tightening your string is making sure that the knot is "set"..in other words "locked" so it won't slip. Often if the knot is not set it allows the string to slowly (and frustrating) slip out of tune...so when you have put the string through the hole give it a good hard pull (You'll often feel the string slip and lock) even before you fit it to the zither pin. The other step is when you have the strings attached lay the harp on it's side on a table with the body hanging off the edge (you should just have the wooden frame on the table). Gently, but firmly, push the strings away from the bridge pins. This helps to stretch the strings (and set any knots that might still slip) and get it settling into tune. It'll still change a bit but if you continue "exercising" them they will settle quicker... Hope that helps! And thanks for the review! Glad you are enjoying the harp.
Thank you so much for replying back! I think my strings are good, but boy is it tricky to find a good tutorial for tuning! I look forward to more videos from Fireside! They are so easy to follow along! Also will be sharing pics of my harp very soon!
Hi! There is a string chart that comes with the Fireside and the strings themselves are marked to tell you the gauge, the string placement and the note that the string is to be. Hope that helps!
@@BackyardMusicSounds Thanks for the reply, yes that makes sense. I didn't realize they were numbered because I saw duplicates. Nice to have extras though!
Still having sooo much fun with my Fireside double. If you recall, my double was the first you made. I may have to get another at some point for that low F, lol. I started learning Just for You by Anne Crosby Gaudet tonight on it. I even recorded it if you want to see how I'm coming along with it. I play it all the time for lots of people both in person and online on zoom & FB. ua-cam.com/video/WWds35OI9R0/v-deo.html
Please contact us directly....would love to help you through stringing your Fireside. The phone number and email address is on the string chart. You can do it!

personally I understood the knot very well from the diagram.
Do you ever intend on showing how to install levers? I'm curious on how its done
Hi Ryan. It's on the agenda to film that step but not completed yet. It does involve precision and patience...but can be done.

How can I tell which strings go in which order? .050 you said is first, but then it looks like 2 more clear strings then red, then 2 more then blue?
