I have morphine and tylenol, but tylenol doesn't really work well for this. Morphine (and other drugs like it) cause side effects for me that make me not want to take it often, so I only use it if I'm in severe pain
@@SamanthaLhave you ever tried tramadol? I’ve been on it for nearly twenty years for chronic pain, and it doesn’t make me loopy or drowsy like other narcotics. It may not relieve all of your pain, but it will take the edge off.

Albert Einstein said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome. I wish I had known about his treatment plan because I have lost so many friends and family to cancer and the harmful chemo and radiation and bone marrow treatments they took that didn't work .The great part of his plan is that it makes the body healthier as it starves the cancer cells . I'm going through a medication treatment and have been remission for more than a year now. I'm taking oral chemo, Kryxnna, and Femara as hormone therapy to control my cancer. I'm still currently taking it now until further notice. I wish both of us the strength and happiness to overcome this together! I'm rooting for both of us!
After my surgery, I kept putting my car keys in the refrigerator! 😂It definitely took me a full year to recover physically & mentally. But, I had an emergency total colectomy on Memorial day so they anesthetized me very quickly & deeply. That was 22 years ago and I did recover fully. Be patient with yourself & rely on those who love you!

Stage 4 breast cancer metastasized to spine and ribs. I'm on Ibrance and Letrozole. Targeted hormone therapy. My worst side effect is breaking ribs (7 so far) and fatigue. Its all so interesting to me how different chemos are and how differently everyone reacts. My son had Acute Myeloid Leukemia. His rounds of chemo were inpatient. He got anywhere from 2 to 4 different chemos 2x a day for anywhere from 5 days to 10 days. He usually slept through the first 2 or 3 days, and then it was as if nothing was going on. His second round, the chemo dodnt seem to affect him at all. The drs were amazed. I pray that Samantha tolerates her treatment well.

Hey, I had Paclitaxel in the summer, I had an allergic reaction at the start of the second one so then had 3 rounds of Nabpaclitaxel. I wore socks and gloves with feeezer packs in through those 4 rounds and I didn’t get any neuropathy. I used to take a plug in freezer box into the chemo suite. Might be worth looking at. I just found your channel last night. I was looking for home care after radiation for breast cancer. My best friend was recently diagnosed and today she turns 63. She had a lumpectomy and it’s likely she’ll get radiation. She doesn’t look up anything about it so I thought I’d look to find something that might make her more comfortable after treatments. Thanks for sharing your story. I wish you the best on this crazy journey. I’m glad you had a baby, because giving life is the best thing about life. Forget about the nay sayers. I totally get your nausea from the pain in your hips, I have osteoarthritis in my l4/5 discs that is not age related and I have it in my right hip that makes it so hard to get motivated to move and when it’s arthritis related staying strong and moving is essential.
Very glad you're on the way in your treatment plan. I've had to stop Arimidex. Night sweats, and weight gain. So, I'm "washing out" for 30 days. All of that is enough, but this weird lump in my throat is that proverbial straw that broke the camel. Depressed. And will soon start a new drug to protect my brain. I don’t have cancer (yet although74 years old) but every thing I’ve read says cancer feed on sugar…in fact just before each Scan they give you a sweet sugary drink which stimulates the cancer cells so they can be detected. So it seems eliminating a lot of sweets and sugary drinks might help slow it’s progression. Best of luck and we’re praying for you
Thank you! All cells feed on sugar. Cancer cells use more sugar than regular cells and so they light up brighter on a scan, but it is a myth that eating less sugar slows down the growth of cancer.

I'm praying for your journey. May God bless with good results. I say that because I was diagnosed in 2021 and was in remission by november 2022. It was hard but with the grace of God I made it through the storm. My faith is stronger now. I will be praying for you and your family.
I’m so glad you now have a treatment plan & that you are getting the taxol & radium. I have stage 4 breast cancer also. Mine metastasized to the pleural sac that surrounds the lungs. I’ve been on Kisqali & Letrazole for six months now. This treatment is not nearly as bad as the IV chemo I took the other two times I had breast cancer. You & your family are in my Prayers!🙏. I’m so happy for you that you won the coin toss on a new combination therapy trial, exciting news! I’m in a lot of pain myself, was shocked when pain happened almost overnight for me at age 64, including plantar fasciitis in one heel that evolved into neuropathy, that feels like a constantly buzzing vibration from my heel all the way up my calf and even further up that right side. When I tried twice weekly B-Complex, to treat the neuropathy, that caused severe migraine that caused me to vomit up gel-coated over-the-counter aspirin/acetaminophen/ caffeine combination pills I needed to take for the migraine, but vomiting was even more painful. About one hour after vomiting I feel much better though, as though some of the analgesic made it into my system.

You have so much going on in your life that in my opinion the last thing you need is negative comments. I watched your video about some of the things that people commented, unbelievable! I'd stop reading them, some people are just plain mean! Hang in there and do what's right for you and F them if they disagree. It's not their journey and they need to hope that they never have to go thru what you are going thru.
Stage 4 Breast Cancer, spread to bones. I just began Year 13. I have progression now after all this time. Still in bones. I’ll start radiation in a week or so.
Hey Samantha, I fully realize that we all react to meds in different ways; however, as someone who has also hated the way some pain meds made me feel, I found that the short-acting opioids (Dilaudid/hydromorphone, 4mg., or oxycodone, 5-10mg) worked extremely well on my pain while not making me drowzy. I took them only when needed and never exceeded the recommended daily dosage. Gabapentin (used for nerve pain, is widely prescribed for a whole slew of various issues) ... was the one that I had the most noticeable issues with (it's not even even a narcotic). It gave me nightmares and, after the first night, it didn't do anything positive, except cause restlessness. Fortunately, I am at this moment NED, so and the only medication I now occasionally take is Tylenol; but I'm going back for tests on Nov.21/23 ... so it doesn't ever seem to be over. Keeping my fingers crossed for you and your family! ❤❤❤
That’s great that you found something that works for you! I found that oxycodone has absolutely no effect on me at all. It doesn’t make me drowsy but it also does nothing for my pain haha. Dilaudid made me drowsy but did not work as well for pain as morphine. That’s how I ended up with that one. So glad you’re NED and hope it stays that way!

Thank you! I mostly just try to take everything one day at a time and enjoy what I have in the moment. There are hard days, but I make sure to not let that happen often
My husband was diagnosed with cancer two months ago. He’s 77 and this Wednesday he will have his second round of chemo. He has shaved his head for decades, so we’re wondering how he wil look without eyebrows! I told him I’ll pencil them in… lol. Two months ago he was painting the house and remodelling the kitchen. Now, just sitting for a shower exhausts him. But he’s getting stronger. Regardless the outcome, God is good.

Its all so interesting to me how different chemos are and how differently everyone reacts. My son had Acute Myeloid Leukemia. His rounds of chemo were inpatient. He got anywhere from 2 to 4 different chemos 2x a day for anywhere from 5 days to 10 days. He usually slept through the first 2 or 3 days, and then it was as if nothing was going on. His second round, the chemo dodnt seem to affect him at all. The drs were amazed. I pray that Samantha tolerates her treatment well.

My dad recently died from Kidney Cancer on November 25, 2023. It went to his lungs. I pray that you'll survive no one really gets out of this. I'm planning to be an egg donor and have anonymous 12 kids.
Keep going hard, all I can say. Caregiver for my Mom, and all I can do at this point is try to encourage. Wish we could do more and you're in my prayers!

She is positive as ever and even through a week of full brain radiation she's still up in spirit. Been a long week, finally Friday and over!

Hey, I had Paclitaxel in the summer, I had an allergic reaction at the start of the second one so then had 3 rounds of Nabpaclitaxel. I wore socks and gloves with feeezer packs in through those 4 rounds and I didn’t get any neuropathy. I used to take a plug in freezer box into the chemo suite. Might be worth looking at. Sending so much love and positive vibes to you 💕💕
Just diagnosed stage 4 er pr + her2-. T11 l1 t3 spots plus 1 rib. Starting femara and kisquali soon. Wish me luck! You are so brave amd upbeat about everything ! Truly an inspiration to us all!

I was watching Jenny Apple this morning and I’ve thought about her all day. Cancer is such a cruel disease, I hate it.
I just found your channel last night. I was looking for home care after radiation for breast cancer. My best friend was recently diagnosed and today she turns 63. She had a lumpectomy and it’s likely she’ll get radiation. She doesn’t look up anything about it so I thought I’d look to find something that might make her more comfortable after treatments. Thanks for sharing your story. I wish you the best on this crazy journey. I’m glad you had a baby, because giving life is the best thing about life. Forget about the nay sayers. Live your life as happily as you can. You have hundreds of supporters wishing you well and praying for you.

It must have been so difficult waiting to see where you landed. I really hope you will be around for many years for your daughter. You’re SO lucky to have such a loving family that is there to support you. I will be out here rooting for you. I sure hope it works. I totally get your nausea from the pain in your hips, I have osteoarthritis in my l4/5 discs that is not age related and I have it in my right hip that makes it so hard to get motivated to move and when it’s arthritis related staying strong and moving is essential.

Very glad you're on the way in your treatment plan. I've had to stop Arimidex. Night sweats, and weight gain. So, I'm "washing out" for 30 days. All of that is enough, but this weird lump in my throat is that proverbial straw that broke the camel. Depressed. And will soon start a new drug to protect my brain. Can't believe people do this for decades. Thank you Samantha, for the good information. ☀

@@thelastofthemachines Since HER2 positive Breast Cancer goes from breast to brain, there is a new drug to protect Estrogen conversion. I'm sorry, I forgot its name, since I've not begun it yet.

I don’t have cancer (yet although74 years old) but every thing I’ve read says cancer feed on sugar…in fact just before each Scan they give you a sweet sugary drink which stimulates the cancer cells so they can be detected. So it seems eliminating a lot of sweets and sugary drinks might help slow it’s progression. Best of luck and we’re praying for you
Thank you! All cells feed on sugar. Cancer cells use more sugar than regular cells and so they light up brighter on a scan, but it is a myth that eating less sugar slows down the growth of cancer.
I am sure you are right, but at the end of the day people will make their own choices, advising is all we can do.

I’m so glad you now have a treatment plan & that you are getting the taxol & radium. I have stage 4 breast cancer also. Mine metastasized to the pleural sac that surrounds the lungs. I’ve been on Kisqali & Letrazole for six months now. This treatment is not nearly as bad as the IV chemo I took the other two times I had breast cancer. You & your family are in my Prayers!🙏. Thank you for the new trial information. You are so articulate and optimistic. I will pass this to my oncology team at my next appointment. I’m so happy for you that you won the coin toss on a new combination therapy trial, exciting news! I’m in a lot of pain myself, was shocked when pain happened almost overnight for me at age 64, including plantar fasciitis in one heel that evolved into neuropathy, that feels like a constantly buzzing vibration from my heel all the way up my calf and even further up that right side. When I tried twice weekly B-Complex, to treat the neuropathy, that caused severe migraine that caused me to vomit up gel-coated over-the-counter aspirin/acetaminophen/ caffeine combination pills I needed to take for the migraine, but vomiting was even more painful. About one hour after vomiting I feel much better though, as though some of the analgesic made it into my system.

You have so much going on in your life that in my opinion the last thing you need is negative comments. I watched your video about some of the things that people commented, unbelievable! I'd stop reading them, some people are just plain mean! Hang in there and do what's right for you and F them if they disagree. It's not their journey and they need to hope that they never have to go thru what you are going thru.
You are truly a role model. Attitude is just stellar! When/if its ever my turn, I will be coming back to your vids for strength. Amazing woman!
Stage 4 Breast Cancer, spread to bones. I just began Year 13. I have progression now after all this time. Still in bones. I’ll start radiation in a week or so.

I fully realize that we all react to meds in different ways; however, as someone who has also hated the way some pain meds made me feel, I found that the short-acting opioids (Dilaudid/hydromorphone, 4mg., or oxycodone, 5-10mg) worked extremely well on my pain while not making me drowzy.
I took them only when needed and never exceeded the recommended daily dosage.
Gabapentin (used for nerve pain, is widely prescribed for a whole slew of various issues) ... was the one that I had the most noticeable issues with (it's not even even a narcotic). It gave me nightmares and, after the first night, it didn't do anything positive, except cause restlessness.
Fortunately, I am at this moment NED, so and the only medication I now occasionally take is Tylenol; but I'm going back for tests on Nov.21/23 ... so it doesn't ever seem to be over.

That’s great that you found something that works for you! I found that oxycodone has absolutely no effect on me at all. It doesn’t make me drowsy but it also does nothing for my pain haha. Dilaudid made me drowsy but did not work as well for pain as morphine. That’s how I ended up with that one. So glad you’re NED and hope it stays that way!

Thank you! I mostly just try to take everything one day at a time and enjoy what I have in the moment. There are hard days, but I make sure to not let that happen often
My husband was diagnosed with cancer two months ago. He’s 77 and this Wednesday he will have his second round of chemo. He has shaved his head for decades, so we’re wondering how he wil look without eyebrows! I told him I’ll pencil them in… lol.
Two months ago he was painting the house and remodelling the kitchen. Now, just sitting for a shower exhausts him. But he’s getting stronger.
Regardless the outcome, God is good.
Chemo is absolutely exhausting, but I hope the treatment works well for him!
