    Wonderful product.
    Could you convince the maker to stamp the riviting profile? It is great the extended the flanges to help orient the frame to the roof. But if that were stamped, it could dip down to fully follow the roof corrigation profile and provide an even better mating of parts.

    Good idea but cutting a hole in the roof is not my idea of a remedy for moisture. Id go on the side corner near the top. Besides those units are over double the price they should be.

      Do you have120v power near your container? We have a low voltage fan in a vent that powers with an extension cord from the outside. It also passes power into your container (2 plugs & 3 USB ports).
      I didn't think people would want to mess with batteries and charge controllers but as they become more popular and people become more educated on them, maybe it's less of a worry.

    What is the top of the vent made of around the solar panel? I'm putting a container in a forested area with high fire danger. It will be in a cleared area with no vegetation. The state's county code doesn't allow plastic lights under the house eaves, or skylights with plastic since an ember could burn through the plastic. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and mistakes. I have learned so much from watching your videos.

    Hi Channing, love your videos and your entrepreneurial spirit. I'm looking at purchasing a couple of 20ft. double door containers (I'm here in the states, N. Illinois to be exact) and partitioning them into two roughly 10x8 spaces. My plan is to rent them out as storage spaces as a fairly cost effective way to get into the business. My concern is leaving them out to the elements . I'm considering a simple open wall clear span structure or possibly a carport type structure to keep them covered. IMHO the roof or top being that it is flat and allows for no runoff to be the most vulnerable part of the container. I'd like to mitigate that as much as possible and keep them dry and clean and in use for a long time. Any suggestions, advice, tips, hints etc. would be most appreciated. Thanks for the great content!

    I live in South Texas and the sun's UV rays kill anything plastic. Any idea how UV resistant the vent hood and Solar panel are?

    • @TheContainerGuyTV
      @TheContainerGuyTV  6 місяців тому +1

      Oooof that's a good question. Sun is pretty bad up here in Canada too actually. Something about being closer to the sun in our summer cause of the tile of the earth (I think). Our main plastic vent company (Duraflo) has the UV resistant stuff figured out. All my plastic vents on my roof were mint after 40 years (1985) when I redid my roof last summer. A little faded is all. These vents aren't made by them but they seem to be of similar quality. Do you have ABS plumbing stacks down there? Or PVC? Which one works?
      We have sold a lot of them to Texas/Arizona with no phone calls suggesting they melt... That's a good sign.

    The problem with solar powered roof vents, as I learned while living aboard my boat, is they are on during the humid part of the day, increasing humidity inside.

    • @TheContainerGuyTV
      @TheContainerGuyTV  Рік тому

      Interesting. We are predominantly dry and find it a perfect match to exhaust the summer heat. Ventilation is climate specific and differs between tropical, desert, temperate, and arctic climates. Each person should analyze their situation and use their judgement.

      @@TheContainerGuyTV I'm in the southeast US. My issues are more with the company. The driver sat the container in the yard instead of on the blocks I had set up. I couldn't be there that day to oversee the delivery, since I was at work. The company refused to come back out and I didn't have the money to pay another company to move it. So it sat uneven which allowed water leakage, which ruined the floor beneath. That whirlybird stopped working not long after that. The other one still works. Years later I met someone who asked if I liked having the whirlybirds and he stated he regretted having them installed because they stopped working on his container. I don't remember if he said they leaked. But he was unhappy also. Btw, I saw a video years ago where you can turn the whirlybirds upside down and use them as a light fixture inside the container. I loved it.
