    I had the pleasure of doing sound for him at a club in NYC around 3 years ago. The show was packed!!!
    We lost a beautiful soul but I'm glad we get to see him here.

    I love how the head of the mallet came off when he was hitting the gongs and he was like “ah, fuck it” and creates an explosion of sound with the severed mallet and the cymbals

    I'm killing myself laughing right now because this is the FIRST video of Milford Graves I've looked up and while I wouldn't be surprised that this is exactly what he was doing, I also can't tell if this is one of those dubbed vids to make them sound like shit and i am DYING. Does it sound like a kid could do it? yeah. Does it sound like anyone other than incredibly skilled musicians could do it twice? no.

    Many Free Jazz musicians were undiagnosed cases of ADHD. Mama don't let your children grow up to play Free Jazz. I'd rather have a colonoscopy. Don't get me wrong. I believe in liberty and the pursuit of noise, just not in my head.

  • @scottbodin912

    overrated

    • @angelgarcie
      @angelgarcie 3 роки тому +3

      Overrated would be John Bonham and Keith Moon,mediocre drummers at best and every boomer thinks they're drumming gods

    • @scottbodin912
      @scottbodin912 3 роки тому +1

      keith might be considered overrated to some, but the way he played is seemingly impossible to copy. bonham on the other hand was doing licks 50 years ago that every drummer still references today.
