  • I have done my fair share of Epoxy Projects, this one has been in my head for years. In this video I build a CRAZY Epoxy Waterfall Table with a single pour! I also add some bubbles with a cool artsy technique, I carve the puddle, it breaks 4 times, and I make a rock from wood! This one was a lot of fun!

    When using that much epoxy/resin, you need to do it in stages. Let the first pour mostly harden. While it is still chemically active, pour the next stage. That way the heat is minimized and you can avoid the problem at the beginning. It clearly takes longer, but it comes out looking clean.

    • @p0seurwhacker
      @p0seurwhacker 3 роки тому +19

      This. The heat of the chemical reaction of the epoxy bowed your plexi outwards and caused those leaks between the clamps/screws you had used to hold the front panel together.

    I admit, part way through, I was thinking, John Malecki don't know what he's doing. LOL. It turned out really good though. Sometimes that's how these things go. Just gotta' go for it and learn along the way. Of course, having fun doing it. I would be the same, not knowing what I was doing, but I might just give this one a try. I have a real waterfall in my back yard. Used a bunch of old foundation stones, a garden hose and a small pump. @JohnMalecki you were asking about why the white rose to the top instead of staying in the bottom...every liquid has a different "weight"...for future projects of similar issues...make up your small amounts of each colour and weigh on a digital scale. Chances are they weigh different...lightest will rise. Talk to a mixologist in your local bar...while you drink your whisky have them build cocktails in front of you..I always learn from other mediums...epoxy reminds me of baking...there's a cake I used to make. You put the dry ingredients on the bottom, gently pour liquid on top and don't stir...during the baking process the mixture inserts itself so the sauce i on the bottom and cake on top...very cool to watch btw

    The water foaming effect is obviously difficult to achieve, but I have seen artists render it with fabulous results. Pratice makes perfect I guess. I think with the curved features of the river on the table top, the table legs look clunky. Why not carve the sides of the water fall? I don't think it would compromise the integrity of the table to do this. The attempt at creating the effect of rock on the other side? I don't know. To create a more integrated design, I would coat the rock leg with a grey epoxy mix, and use some grey epoxy on the edgs of the river on the table top as well. Crazy difficult job for sure. A+ for your willingness to persevere and make us laugh to boot! I can see on the side there you have another river table project. I'm definitely going to check it out.

    Am I the only one who is kinda frustrated at how he doesn’t really plan the process out. So much time and/or work could have been saved... that being said it still looks cool

      @@John_Malecki I'd rather see the mistakes so that I don't make them myself, I appreciate the fact that you don't edit out the blunders and show viewers that even though something doesn't go perfectly you can still have an amazing end result. Keep up the good work my man. Appreciate you sharing the adventure with us :D

    Another idea that would have looked cool on this project is if the waterfall looked like it went into the floor (instead of the 'puddle'). You could make a lip of a well in timber and then fill it with epoxy and then have the water pouring into that.

    I would have left the waterfall edge exactly like it was: not cutting it off. t looked awsome! In my humble opinion.

    Easy for me to say, having never done this myself, but I think I'd put some kind of a ..... trough? or a reservoir underneath to catch drips and such. Should they occur. (Slap something together out of plywood an like it with plastic maybe?, I dunno ) I just discovered you guys last night and it took every bit of manliness I possess to turn the laptop off and go to bed. I shall be binge watching all this Saturday You guys are AWESOME !!!!!!!!

    I really wish you put like a 6” rock sticking through the bottom of the waterfall. I think that could have looked so good and given it even more depth

    John. the advantages to PVC sheets is better heat transfer than MDF or Melamine. Think about using an aluminium table for an even better transfer of heat. Also if you want to add colors think of letting it setup a little then introducing your colrs with large syringes. What the top looks like after your done doesn't matter. You have a CNC to use like a planar or wide belt sander.

    • @cravinvapesgoshen5492
      @cravinvapesgoshen5492 3 роки тому

      Just to clarify, don't pour directly on to aluminium table, use the PVC mold. It's just a better way to transfer heat out of the pour and into the room.
