- Опубліковано 11 лют 2025
- I have done my fair share of Epoxy Projects, this one has been in my head for years. In this video I build a CRAZY Epoxy Waterfall Table with a single pour! I also add some bubbles with a cool artsy technique, I carve the puddle, it breaks 4 times, and I make a rock from wood! This one was a lot of fun!

Appreciate people actually showing the mistakes they made rather than acting like they’re perfect
Cant agree more
It’s one of the best thing about this channel.
I messed up exactly like this, its nice to see the experts making mistakes too. Makes feel like less of an asshat
@@bixwor completely agree! Does feel good to know that we are not the only one who make mistakes when making things with wood.
Learned so much from this channel, and showing the mistakes/problems. Everyone makes mistakes it's figuring out how to recover that's usually the problem
Im not crazy about the finished table but I’m SO impressed that you had so many failures and just kept at it... I’ve quit projects for way less... you have really made me reflect on projects I’ve given up on, I feel inspired to not give up the next time! Great video, probably my favorite on your channel!
As a total newbie at working with epoxy, it’s sooooo freakin awesome to see you show your mess-ups so I can feel a tad better about myself!! 😂 I have a long way to go, but at least the process and practice is fun! Thanks for keeping it real!
Agreed levee breaks is one of the best drum intros ever ❤️ 💙 ♥️ 💖
That turned out gorgeous John. I love the realism in your videos. Your not afraid to show mistakes. How to get hit and get back up again. Keep it up man!!!
Realism, lol .. you really bought that?
He earned my subscription with that integrity. Reaction reenactments and all.
When using that much epoxy/resin, you need to do it in stages. Let the first pour mostly harden. While it is still chemically active, pour the next stage. That way the heat is minimized and you can avoid the problem at the beginning. It clearly takes longer, but it comes out looking clean.
This. The heat of the chemical reaction of the epoxy bowed your plexi outwards and caused those leaks between the clamps/screws you had used to hold the front panel together.
One thing I’ve learned, never rush a project. Especially anything to do with liquids.
It's just like glass fiber resin
Yeah this is like Epoxy 101, says it on every brand of it. Even the high end stuff you really should only do 1-2 inches at a time max and or thinner if you're going crazy waterfalls.
It's like they have no idea how to use it - it's nuts for a channel of a pro shop
Definitely one of the best songs of all history. Great taste
100%!!!
I agree
@@John_Malecki that song is somehow relaxing and chill at the same time as it rocks so hard. A little mind blowing.
Love it! Thanks for showing the ups and downs. I really enjoyed the host he's quite comical.
Dude, seeing how that all went down after hearing it through texts and pics makes me laugh even more 😂😅 Y'all made some sweet sweet lemonade out of those lemons 💪
Lllllllllllllllloolololllllllllollllollllolollolllollllllllloolololoolololllolllllollollllllllloolloollololllllollollloollllllllllllloolllllolllooolooloolollolllllloollooloololllololllollolollollllolollllollollllololllllllollllllllolllolllollooollllloolloolloolololllllollolllololllollllllollolollllllolllololloololoollllolololoollooloollllllolollllllllolllllollllllllloolllllolloolollolllllolllllllolollolllloolllllolllllolllollollloolllololloollllollllllololllollolllollololollollllolooooolollllololllloollololllooloolollllllllllolollolllloollllolllolllollllolllllloollllllolollollolllllllllllooollllolloloollllllolooollllololololllolllollolloolollloolooloololollloooollllolololllllooollllllp
😂Please don't encourage more scripted skits LOL😂
Improvise... adapt... overcome... thats the definition of this video
I cant believe how well you handled that! I'm sure it was a bit worse off camera
I would have flipped out for sure.
@@danssmokintreasures yeah that laugh was to avoid crying or raging
i mean the dude came into the room mic'd up lmfao you really think thats a genuine reaction?
@@Stoop_Kidd ya he got mic'd up before seeing it
@@Msteiner_51 if you think the reaction is genuine, you must be crazy
YOU NEED A TV SHOW!!!!!! I enjoy watching you and Sam. Bless you guys.
“i didn’t calk it like bigger tables cuz we’re in a rush to pour it before the weekend” seems lesson learned for sure LOL
" CRYING WON'T HELP YA , PRAYING WON'T DO YA NO GOOD !!" Awesome table man! I like you left in the mistake and did'nt edit it out. I don't know if it's the best drum intro but for sure in the top 4 😎
Today on Shop Time, we're going to do a Dip It episode featuring John Malecki's shop floor and a towel.
yes sir !
@@John_Malecki do eet!
Lol that’d be great XD
😆😆😆
Great video. Including mistakes is so helpful. Truly. Many thanks from Nova Scotia
I can not explain how much I love your videos. Can’t tell you how many times in my own shop I try to convince myself that “everything is going perfectly to plan”
It's pleasure to watch any of your videos!!
So much to learn from you, guys!!
And you are ultra funny!!!
Bless you!!!
when the levee breaks... I wont argue... defenetely one of the best songs ever by the best group ever!
Total agreed on when the levee breaks ! That whole album is awesome!!!!
I vote for more weird. Your weird has a habit of producing pimptacular projects.
Turned out great. In the end it all works out. People get to squirrelly. Let it happen. Thanks for sharing. *Chris*
When the Levee Breaks is THE BEST DRUM INTRO EVER! And John Bonham IS THE BEST DRUMMER EVER!!!
STUNNING!!!
Gotta love those Happy Little Mistakes!!!
Love how ya saw this project through to the end even when it looked like it was going belly up at the start. That's how it is in the world of craftmanship, sometimes you shapes the projects, sometimes the projects shape you.
That's the beauty in art!
from Doug i give you a 1000 thumbs up for the determination to complete the project great job
John, you need to look on the bright side, the wood didn’t float away
🤣
ROFL
good recovery, thought it was a goner at one part but you managed to give your waterfall 'the kiss of life' mate. Kudos
epic build!
Easy for me to say, having never done this myself, but I think I'd put some kind of a ..... trough? or a reservoir underneath to catch drips and such. Should they occur. (Slap something together out of plywood an like it with plastic maybe?, I dunno ) I just discovered you guys last night and it took every bit of manliness I possess to turn the laptop off and go to bed. I shall be binge watching all this Saturday You guys are AWESOME !!!!!!!!
This is pretty cool, did you consider like a “foam” on the bottom of the waterfall where the two pieces of epoxy meet?
I admit, part way through, I was thinking, John Malecki don't know what he's doing. LOL. It turned out really good though. Sometimes that's how these things go. Just gotta' go for it and learn along the way. Of course, having fun doing it. I would be the same, not knowing what I was doing, but I might just give this one a try. I have a real waterfall in my back yard. Used a bunch of old foundation stones, a garden hose and a small pump. Relaxing sitting out there in the warmer weather having my morning cup of coffee, or my evening cold brew. Enjoyed your video. Good work.
Love how this turned out, and the journey was interesting! Project suggestion if you are ever doing something non-commissioned: live edge river wardrobe doors. I think it would make an amazing piece in a room, built in or free standing (and people rarely build wardrobes on UA-cam, it feels lacking)
I totally agree! I would love to have an old fashioned wardrobe...my grandmother had one when I was a kid so they make me smile...besides...he doesn't want their own entrance to Narnia? Bahaha
Blue and white lemonade! I love it.
This is the real-life example of leaving all the studying for your exams the night before you have them.
Great build!
I came here to say this. These guys are just making it up as they go and it's embarrassing to watch.
@@RoyRosales It's not embarrassing, it shows the creative minds they possess and learn through mistakes. And I'm pretty sure they think it through even when there are mistakes, nobody is perfect and shit happens.
Wow best table yet. Beautiful....10/10
“I’ve never done this before but I watched a couple UA-cam videos” iconic
Очередной шедевр. Огромное спасибо за познавательное видео. Всегда смотрю с удовольствием.
You should make an epoxy kayak. And take it out on the lake before summer ends.
I still have epoxy on the shop floor from an epic spill when I was making pub tables. This video gave me some nightmare flashbacks!
I know this table must have been hell for you, but I THOROUGHLY enjoyed watching this video. So entertaining haha. Awesome finish after what you went through.
That piece was a work of art brother. That’s why art is so unique because you look at mistakes as opportunities for new ideas.
Awesome vid, I am a beginner who has done small things like ashtrays, trinket boxes etc but I have always had my sights on doing something bigger like tables and this vid inspired me even more with the imagination of doing something like that is rare and awesome....yes do keep those videos coming, I need to try and start doing bigger things myself. Thank you for that inspiration, mistakes are always made but you have managed to carry on and make something wonderful.
Oh My Wow!!! What a workout.... and ya truly didn't give up. First video of yours I've seen.... impressed!
Lourin - Florida
I really liked this video but I wish you had a rock parting the waterfall.i have seen that in nature and think it would have been a fantastic addition to that table
Thanks for showing that because before you had the plexiglas on it i was thinking “it would be cool to put plexi on and pour it as one peice . So im so happy you saved me that issue when i start doing this. I like your tips and humor
Thank you You Tube algorithm for bringing me here. Instant sub. Well done my man.
I just started watching your videos last week and noticed your Westminster table build. I’m from new castle with many friends and fam still living their.
Keep em coming and awesome personality.
Ok, Malecki. I saw this in my feed and was all "just what we need, another damn waterfall eepoksee table." But I watched anyway and then I was all, "wait a hot second...this is gonna be good..." And then I was like, "I hope there's no fire 'cause that extinguisher ain't going nowheres." And then I was all, "Zeppelin...eff yea!" And then I was like, "crack kills. Lol." And then I go, "nice save!" And then I have to admit, "Epic, Malecki."
I can't tell you how much this video inspired me!!! I'm about to go to my She Shed and get Squirrley! Little Squirrel was what my brother called me when l was little. Who knew I'd grow up and be Squirrely. Hope it's spelled right🤗
John doesn't deserve 300k subs, he deserves 1.4 mil subs :-)
You are correct, tell all your friends! We're building an army!
@@John_Malecki The fact that u responded made my day.... wow
Do more of these. Plus it was fun watching you and listening to your funny banter.
I was coughing right before he said stop coughing. Kinda caught me off guard.
Super rad table! Glad you stuck with it.
another outstanding video. Just shows even when a project is totally kicking you butt. Keep going and it will work out! Nice work bud!
Omg this is my new fave channel: fantastic creative craftmanship with so much entertaining personality. Subbed for lyf.
My fix would have been to make it look like ice!
Your great & funny as hell 🤣 the water fall for a desk is a bit expensive but the customer is always right .
👍
Yo what up love the vids
Thanks Jakob!
Love it. Also the lady in the water fall on the right side.
I'm glad someone else saw that too! It almost looks like a mermaid. Really cool!
"i'm going to wait until this side dries then I will sand it off and do it again" (hey sam sand down my mistake!!) hahaha
You are HILARIOUS..& very educational. It's great to get instruction in how to resolve common problems.
14:25 summoned a squirrel demon in my livingroom... now what?
Embrace it...... then eat it
Great save! Amazing final product.
Am I the only one who is kinda frustrated at how he doesn’t really plan the process out. So much time and/or work could have been saved... that being said it still looks cool
yeah. he needs to watch I like to make stuff and learn from Bob
My channel is about the journey. Not the end product: bob is great but I don’t work that way
@@John_Malecki fair enough
@@John_Malecki I'd rather see the mistakes so that I don't make them myself, I appreciate the fact that you don't edit out the blunders and show viewers that even though something doesn't go perfectly you can still have an amazing end result. Keep up the good work my man. Appreciate you sharing the adventure with us :D
I Love the idea! What I think needs a change is the way the " rock leg" and table top meet. I think I may have tried to add a bit more movement, and depth by adding more hues in the water. Possibly a bit of black and glowing in dark silver glitter. Maybe like ...black in the very center followed by white then a dark blue, a tad of glow silver glitter more white too in areas where the movent hits a rock underneath or land and "bumps into moves on by" feel the flow? Lol... then the light blue green you have.... So many ideas awaken!! Thanks!!
That mold release spray is a waste of time, I use any kind of automotive wax paste and wipe the whole form down 👍🏽 never had melamine stick.
Fantastic work! Author, be healthy and happy!
"We don't actually know what happened!??" I'm picking up a pattern here.
Amazing confidence resulted in brilliant finish.
Ya know the saying “learning from your mistakes”... I swear he’s going to be a fricken genius by the time he’s 80. . Cuz there in every SINGLE video... and why? Cuz he “wings” it 🤦🏻♂️🤷♂️
That's how unique things are made and it's great content!
Best project I have seen in youtube till today
Well, you handled that well. I'm glad you can cuss like a truck driver. Next skill is to cuss like a Marine.
I'm so glad u didn't give up, the table is BEAUUUITIFUL 👍🏾
I was just wondering if you’ve ever had a blowout…and then! I love all of your creative work; it’s inspiring.
That is outstanding craftsmanship buddy 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I like your style of videos ; good humour, background music and entertaining.
Am frm Pakistan ....
It's looks a unique waterfall u did a great job....
That was fun and refreshing to see somebody else fixing all their screw ups. The table came out amazing after all
You sure were dedicated to making it work hats off to you. I guess I might have added a bit of darker blue to give it some depth.
I've completed several epoxy resin projects in my dreams, but dude, your real project surpassed all. Kudos John.
Ended up pretty cool, can't complain.
Even though your work shop floor was messed up as veiwed at the initial videos eventually you manage ed it to complete........ cheers man great work😘
Without doubt this has been the most interesting video of its type I seen for some time. Let's face it most of the workers who are showing their projects are basically working with artisan skills and viewpoint. Results reflect that - beautiful craftsmanship and a result which looks like what it was meant to be - a piece of furniture, a cutting jig - whatever. This one is in a different category since it's a genuine effort to make something which strongly resembles water flowing over a feature and falling with attendant visual effects. It is venturing into the domain of art and also the science of water flow. Not to put too fine a point on it - its a very ambitious project.
As with anything this difficult there are dangers. If you take thought for moment the way water behaves as it flows over say a three foot high weir or over Niagara Falls will look different in each case. The differences and the reason for them are explainable by reference to the science of hydrodynamics - another notoriously difficult subject. [ Considerations like vena contract, hydraulic jump, or boundary or shore to flow centre differences in water velocity, dissolved and entrained gasses and debris come to mind, and as was mentioned in the piece spray and spray clouds. ]
Then there is the question of how you want the finished object to appear at the end. You may end up with something that looks like part of a model railroad set up rather than a piece of classy furniture, which is the aim here [ the furniture that is ! ]
One of the classic errors made was to forget that a liquid exerts hydraulic pressure, which is proportional to depth and density of the fluid. Liquid epoxy is no exception, and that is probably why the first trial burst the mould, although heat may also have been a factor. Heat and expansion and contraction issues were the cause of the cracks too.
The choice to work in poured acrylic is understandable, but it is fraught with problems including high cost and the eventual risk of lung cancer. I would have thought that working with carved wood which is painted to simulate water [ and perhaps later covered with a surface layer of acrylic ] would be easier and give a better simulation of real water.
But hey - when all's said and done nothing venture nothing gain. This was a serious and important development in modern furniture making and rates as a great achievement.
I like the way that you didn't give up, and look what you ending with....a master piece 👏
Oh man, Big thumbs up for the outcome of the table and your overcome of the mess that you went through
You are correct…one of the all time best!!!!!
That’s really creative and actually looks like a waterfall. Good job.
Charlie! I made it all the way. Not that it was hard. I love this stuff. Your work is beautiful
Great looking water falls table.
I could not begin to create a table like that, but, I have learned to call the expert, in this case an artist/expert, before I start the project. Your table turned out great and I truly enjoy your builds.
It took Michelangelo 4yrs to paint the frescoed ceiling in the Sistine Chapel. Your waterfall project timing is fine, John...and I love the final result. I am a wildlife artist and some of my work has been quick&easy, but the best ones simply take time to perfect. I truly do love your waterfall table....what an awesome end result! Don't quit. I'd love to see more tables like this one.
Well, that turned out way better than it should have. Usually when sometimes tries more off the wall shit to cover up a "cock-up", as the British say, it only gets more cocked up. Love "mistake" vids!
Awesome build with hilarious commentary
Really cool table! Definitely do more! And the setbacks are good learning experience, in life you always lose some to gain some, and the sycke always repeats. Don't worry yourself too much just keep moving forward
Excellent. Love that you didn’t edit out the mistakes. Came out pretty cool
THATS AWESOME BRO!!!! LOVE IT!!!!!
👍👍👍👍ya know the month and half watching this coming together.....I really didn't think I was gonna like it. Well done!
Hey guy. I’m new to this but I’ve used Tyvek tape on forms and on table to eliminate sticking. Also, try bondo instead on mortar you can paint it and make your own textures plus its cheaper and not as heavy. Gotta say the project came out sweet.
I was searching for water fall resin table and you have already done it !!!! awesome
