Oh my goodness her post of this. Thank you so much. What an enjoyable little suspenseful movie no cussing no sex no tourist violence just the upload shots of a man acting. They don’t make drama movies like they did in the 50s anymore. This was a very believable little war movie thank you so much.
@@robtw88 I like these movies too Rob, but I also miss the good old "sexploitation" movies. I always loved seeing scantily clad women with bared breasts bouncing across the big screen... any chance of reviving those ?
WOW - wotta GREAT war movie, and all because of pretty fantastic acting by the main cohort, and while NOT a new plot, they PUSHED IT to another level, and it really came together. KInda cerebral, YET action packed ! A rare gem. All on a low budget. Wow...
Maybe no "John Wayne's, Clint Eastwood's or Jimmy Stewart's" but several of the actors, such as cooking and others had great careers. One, the actor that played Pumphrey, had a pretty good career as a young man in the late 30's into the 40's and 50's. If you still Google the car if Sniper Ridge you can see them and click their pic for the Wikipedia link for them. The guy that played Tonto was the same guy that played Manolito oh The High Chaparral. Just saying.
What became of the American corporal who had saved the American captain? I am a South Korean who always thanks American soldiers for having helped us in Korean War . I would live as a slave under the dictatorship of North Korea if they had not helped South Korea at that time .
Thanks for the video. At age 72 I am catching up on all the movies I've missed due to life's other priorities. Nice to see Stanley Clements, one of the old Bowery Boys stars.
their are many movies about the Korean police action you just haven't seen them , 1' the bridges of toki ri , 2' the steel helmet , 3' fixed bayonets ,4' porkchop hill , 5' sgt striker , 6' the patrol 7' the manchurian candidate , 8' sadly i forget the name of it but it's about the limeys in Korea , 9' victor mature leading the greeks brigade , 10' the hunters , 11' mash , 12' a good 1' with paul Newman , 13' snipers ridge ,14' which is basically a remake of of heaven knows mr allison , 15' the bamboo cage , and a few other b- grade low budget action flicks
I had that exact break out that Shurak had in the begining of this movie, exactly the same scenario with mine, only I didn't go to the doctors, I went straight to my officer and threw my mobile phone, right to an officer's head. Thank God I missed him by 2 inches and I only got 1 moth jail , that I didn't even serve because they never gave to me, any days off, of the one moth that I was entitled as a soldier. I had 2 really rough years in my whole service, that I 'll never forget.
God made all people from one man, Adam. All people are brothers. Unfortunately, the lying and corrupt clergy is silent about this. They even bless Racism and Nazism in the name of God. The problem is that the Devil rules the world. He is a liar and a murderer. This is why deception and violence are everywhere. This is the reason why people cry over stray cats and hate their brothers. This is the reason why Hitler got the power, but Christ was executed as "blasphemer" and "rioter" by denunciation of clergy. This is the reason why the whole world is Sodom. That's why we have the Gospel about the Kingdom of God. Jehovah will put everything in order. He has anointed the king, Jesus Christ. The dead will rise and we will meet our loved ones again! :-)
I served as a Company Commander in the 10th MTN. We deployed to Mogadishu with the Marines in early '93. I have seen fear in people's eyes in training and combat ( or what they thought was combat). I could never live up to the stories my grandfather told from WW I. Or my uncle in Korea. But, I have seen men and women crack, in other units and I mean, cocoa for cocoa puffs crazy. It is weird. I ended up confronting the other company commander at the freaking airport walking around in his underwear and his 9mm saying he was going to kill the old man (BN CDR).And he didn't see half of what some of my soldier's saw. I loved my soldier they were the best I could ever ask for.
I have met several of these men, at the V.A. They faced some of the toughest conditions ever. Remember cold little food, and a lack of weapon support was shamefully common.
Jack Lee Ging (November 30, 1931 - September 9, 2022) was an American actor. He was best known as General Harlan "Bull" Fulbright on NBC's television adventure series The A-Team,
His wife (#3) is from my hometown and he was a regular customer at a department store owned by my cousin. He met her when he was in the area filming the original version of the classic children's book 'Where the Red Fern Grows' (also starring Beverly Garland and James Whitmore)
Soldier who fired rifle to wake em up was character ACTOR JACK GOING who had his own TV series along side WENDEL COREY called """ELEVENTH HOUR""" in mid 1960s**** and STANLEY CLEMENTS took over for LEO GORCY on the EAST SIDE KIDS 1950s films****
I was late 70s army and wore similar flak jackets in the field. Never knew the significance of the tags sewn on the front side. They were always blank.
A pretty accurate depiction of what really occurred in many instances. When men were drafted they didn't automatically buy into the military "rah rah". In fact, there were many instances of rather dumb officers being shot by their own men. War was not the disciplined arena but a general free for all when things started to go sideways. This movie successfully captures the essence of that experience.
I did recognize the faces of the actors who played Cpl Sharack, Cpl Pumphrey, and MSGT Sweatish. They and the two actors playing the Captain and Lieutenant gave excellent performances.
@@aerialcat1 I agree it was not bad. I just wish in some war film they would stop bunching up on a foot patrol. A hand grenade has a 5 meter kill radius. That is why we were trained to keep 5 meter intervals.
It was unusual to see flak jackets (as correctly worn) when the movie started. The end showed why they were actually incorporated; not for period costume accuracy, but for story line development...
This war is NOT "forgotten . My fellow Americans did most of the fighting .We have Some realization of the hell you went through . We're NOT all ignoramuses .
A common misconception prevailed that the S-mine would not detonate until its victim stepped off the trigger. This fallacy was propagated by incorrect United States propaganda during World War II. The mine would detonate whether the trigger was released or not. Standing still or attempting to run from the S-mine would be equally dangerous. The most effective way to survive the mine's detonation would not be to flee but to fall to the ground lying face down as quickly as possible.
They never considered that there might be more than one mine besides the one the Captain was standing on? They all just go strolling out there like that's all there is. Just the one mine.
The interesting thing is that the Americans were the first to pull out of Korea, leaving their Allies to continue without them - before any ceasefire. Of course it was a political decision and not the troops; all because the US authorities felt that things were getting too hot. The British (Glorious Glocesters) became famous for their stand. The Allies pulled out afterwards. The US pull-out from Afghanistan was a sort of deja vous for the forces there, only then it was done without informing the Allies! When you add the US failure in Mogadishu where they were beaten by untrained drug barons, and Vietnam where they were literally kicked out of the country, it's hardly sutprising that the Allies feel that the US can't be trusted.
I don't know how low the budget was for this comedy, or farce, but it made me chuckle a few times. I wonder if Korea was just a convenient backdrop for this soap opera that was written to give the impression that our military is filled with incompetents? Typical of Hollywood though.
Boy, this one lost me in the first couple of minutes. Everybody goofing off and sleeping and the NK just walk up and start shooting people??? Really???

It's good, 'Sniper's Ridge' (1961). About shell shock so these type of war movies can get very dreery but the acting and story is just right.

In the next scene, during the shootout, Shurack had his helmet on then off, then on. I'm surprised he didn't stop to shave. 😂
In the third scene, the doctor didn't even bother to check him out, just grabbed him and demanded he walk back to the front line .😂

guess Pier didnt learn anything from WW2. never wear your rank in the field because of snipers hitting officers 1st.

The Sgt was a coward.
The soldiers would have much better luck hitting the enemy (both sides) if they had tried AIMING their weapons, instead of just spraying from the hip.
